hello everyone!
this is my first post on here and for some reason I'm kind of excited!
anywho... hopefully you guys can help me out here.
so I had sex with my boyfriend today and my inner labia swelled up huge! this isn't the first time. i would say naturally my vagina is pretty tight and i think he is kind of big but nothing too crazy. but it swelled up so big that it looked like my vagina was falling out or something! and it was sore as hell! i have ah iud and we dont use condoms so i don't think its something i'm allergic to and i get pretty wet. it took about an hour for the swelling to go down and everything was back to normal. we have been together for 2 and a half years and this has happened the last two times we've had sex.

what do you guys think?

Hello!

This has been a bit of a problem for two months now and it's really beginning to bother me. My issue is pretty simple - the pattern is that in the week after ovulation for the last two months, my vaginal discharge goes from clear and stringy (like raw egg white) to whitish, and there's almost no discharge at all. Then my vagina becomes very dry and very itchy. Like, maddeningly itchy.

I'm prone to YIs, so I usually have the treatment on-hand to deal with it. But this issue seems different to the typical YI, there is no discharge at all. I haven't been swabbed for a YI recently, but last month I treated the itchy/dryness with a 3-day canesten-treatment and it seemed to go away (that may also be in-part because the cream adds moisture and has a soothing effect). Then my period came and it seemed to right itself entirely. The itchy/dryness has returned again this month under the exact same circumstances as last month - the week after ovulation.

It doesn't seem normal... does anyone have an idea about what might be causing it? I've wondered if it has something to do with the change/drop of estrogen after ovulation has finished, but I haven't been able to find much reliable information around.

Please help. I would love to know how to prevent this, or at least treat it properly.

A friend of mine has a friend staying in a homeless shelter in CT. She is 7 months pregnant and has been told that if she continues the pregnancy she won't be able to stay in the shelter even though this shelter has a section for women and children. Does anyone know what rules/rights might apply here? Or does anyone know of any places in CT that take in homeless mothers with newborns? The fact that she has to choose between her pregnancy and a place to live really upsets me.
Any ideas?

Hi, all! I'm a trans man (18 years old, nonsmoker, not on any kind of supplemental hormone regimen or medication), and my doctor is recommending I start taking oral contraceptives to help with bad cramps/irregular periods. (Also to possibly alleviate the intensified depression before I actually begin menstruating -- I have major depression distinct from my menstrual cycle, and while I do get gender dysphoria during my period, it's not just floating around in the week leading up to it unless I encounter specifically triggery stuff when depressed. )

I presume she's recommending low-dose birth control; reading on this site that seems logical, and less likely to cause irritable moods or depression. But is low-dose birth control at a high risk of exacerbating pre-existing depression? I've also been told it might make my depression in general better, so I'm a little confused. (Planning on charting my mood/regular visits with a psychologist during the first three months anyway, but I just want to know what to expect.) I'd just Google this, but I'm really worried about misinformation/speculation from people who haven't actually experienced this scenario.

Sorry if this is a foolish question of if it's been asked before! I checked over the HBC tag and read the VulvaPedia page on the topic, but I'm new to VaginaPagina.

Hi, I have some very basic questions about HBC.

The only method of birth control I've ever used is condoms, because I'm uncomfortable with using HBC, but I want to give it a try.

I'm in a long distance relationship now, so I barely ever see my boyfriend. He'll be visiting me on October 7th, so about week from now.

In order to get a prescription, I'd have to go into the campus Dr. for an exam. I have a few questions.

QUESTIONS:

1. How long does it take for HBC to start working? and do I have to wait for a certain day to start? Is it too late for me to go in now?

2. Can you take HBC for like 1 month only, and then just quit taking it..?

3. Is there a specific type of HBC which will have limited symptoms? I know everyone reacts differently, but basically I don't want my boobs to grow at all, if that can be avoided.

4. How much do generic BC pills typically cost without insurance?

thank you!

Hello there!

I have been a runner for about 15 years, usually running about 4-6 miles a day, 4-5 days a week. A few months ago I was feeling bored with this same old routine, so decided to see if I could run longer. And I could. So for about the past two months, I've increased my mileage to about 7-10 miles a day, though I only do this about 3-4 days a week; the other days I lift weights or something different.

Anyway, I've noticed that my cycle has gotten weird. It used to be around 30-32 days, but last month it was 32 days, and this month I think it's going to be MUCH shorter, like around 25 or 26 days (I have those "your period is going to come at any minute" cramps currently). I'm wondering if the increase in my running mileage could have something to do with this. Does anyone out there exercise a lot and had a weird change in the length of your menstrual cycle as a result?

And, for the record, though I don't think this should make much of a difference: I have a paragard (i.e. copper, non-hormonal) IUD, which is about 2.5 years old now. It hasn't interfered with the length of my cycles before, though I guess anything is possible...

Thanks in advance for your help!
