I was wondering, if the weight associated with the cysts goes away after the cysts do or soon after? or if metabolism is permanently altered and a change in diet will be needed? (although I' already very healthy about what I eat)

Hi everyone,
Back again with another question!

I remember reading somewhere that as you get older, sometimes your HBC can become less 'tailored' to you. I've had 4 very good years with the Nuva ring, but I'm noticing as time goes on, it is becoming less effective at controlling the pain associated with my endometriosis.

The pill doesn't agree with me, so feeling curious, I looked up IUDs. To say I am freaked out would be an understatement. It was probably just unlucky site selection on my part, but the disadvantages, the risk of expulsion, infection, getting pregnant regardless, always having to feel around for your strings and how long they are etc etc just seemed really frightening.

Not to mention that they actually put it in your uterus. I shouldn't be such a baby about implant-type stuff, because I've recently had a lap band put in, but the idea of having to lie there while they shove a piece of plastic (or copper) through your cervix makes me want to scream and run away.

Now, I am fully aware I am being irrational. So please, IUD users, share your experiences? What was insertion like? Do they sedate you? What are your periods like? Heavy or painful? Have you found it to be an effective means of contraception? Are the strings as much of a pain in the ass as they sound? Have you had any bad experiences, i.e., expulsion, infection, pregnancy?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts. :)

Hi, all. Just letting you know there's a brainstorming post over in [livejournal.com profile] contact_vp asking for your input on an idea. If you have a minute, we'd appreciate you heading there and sharing your suggestions.

So I got my D&C today, as well as getting my Mirena put in.
After months of very weird, sporadic bleeding (even when on continuous birth control) we found some odd shapes on my ultrasound. I have also had severe cramps. Today, I hoped to have gotten the answers.
I went in for 8:45 AM, didn't go in for the surgery until 12 (couldn't pee in the cup to save my life, got bloodwork to prove I wasn't pregnant), and went under.
My doctor was gone by the time I had woken up. She talked with my mother, saying they found a small polyp-y type thing and removed it and sent it to get biopsied.
She also found a very odd black lining, thinking it may be very old blood, but is confused as all hell by it. She scraped it off and sent it to get biopsied as well. She seemed baffled by it.
My Mirena is in, and I'm rather confused as to what to do next. Check the strings? No idea! My follow up is on July 20th.
What should I do next?

Hi! I'm new to the community, hope I don't screw up posting. :)
I'm interested in hearing what you would do if you were on a date with someone you've just started seeing, and you were about to have sex for the first time, but you have several red spots from shaving earlier. Would you say anything before you got started? If the person you were on a date with didn't know what the red spots were and thought it was some STD it could get awkward. I would probably say something beforehand just to be safe.

Hi there. This is my first post here, and I have a question. Or two.

I've been experiencing nagging pelvic pain for a while now and my doctor switched me from a generic pill to Loestrin 24Fe and recommended that I take it continuously to see if it helps with the cramps.

When I skipped the iron pills for the first time this month, I found that my cramps were pretty bad--like I was about to get my period, and worse than they were at the beginning of the month. My question is: is this strong cramping a common side effect of stacking birth control? Should I be worried about pregnancy at all? I think the cramps are getting slightly better now after about 5 days, but man, it's disconcerting.

Thanks.
