Hello ladies!

I tried looking in the tags, but didn't find anything. I apolgoize ahead of time if this has been asked recently!

In the last several months (probably closer to 6 or so), I've been having a fair amount of pain during intercourse. We've tried lube, extensive amounts of foreplay... nothing really works. It hurts the worst in the very beginning and then at the end/after. The pain is not there during.
I figured it was just a lubrication issue and didn't pay much attention to it. I did mention it during my pap smear though, which was just a few days ago. I get them done through my PCM, so it was not an OBGYN. She looked at it and wanted to test for herpes immediately, because it looked "a little red". She didn't want to discuss any other possibilities such as recurring YIs or maybe BV? Now, I do have HSV-1 and have since I was little kid. So I'm fairly familiar with the virus.
I looked down there with a mirror and it looks nothing like a herpes sore, nor does it feel like one. It looks like a fairly thick paper cut... I'm still waiting on the tests to come back, however I'm really doubting it's herpes and it sounds like a tear to me.
Any ideas? Have any of dealt with tears before? We've tried giving it a few weeks to heal and nothing... It comes right back.
I get YIs quite often and take hormonal BC, I read online that both can contribute to the tears and their delayed healing.

Also, to add: I am married and had gotten STD tested prior to starting my relationship with him - negative for everything.

Thank you so much for your help! :)

Random question...

I have a cold and have been sneezing and coughing all week and I noticed yesterday that whenever I sneeze/cough my left side hurts. Near my ovary. I can't figure out if its my ovary or my bladder, but its a dull ache that won't seem to go away.

Just some side info:

I'm not pregnant and I use the Nuvaring for my BC. I also have not had intercourse in nearly 2 months.

Thanks for any ideas you may have!

Hey superstars,

I have a quick question.

I'm on Yaz, and I have been for years. (At least 4, probably closer to 5 at this point). My periods are pretty standard since I've been on this pill for so long. I usually have 3 days of bleeding. The first is really light, the 2nd is heavy and made up of bright red blood, and the third day is light, but the blood is the dark brown, sticky "old" blood.

This time is different. I started my period on time, but it's been light old blood the whole time. (I'm currently on day 2). I've also notcied that i'm passing a LOT more clots than usual. I also feel AWFUL. I was up all night with a migraine. I had a migraine pretty bad two cycles ago, but this is the worst one I've ever had. I am so tired, and I can barely function. I'm in grad school, and I've barely been able to work on anything the past few days.

In case it may be relevant: My boyfriend broke up with me the end of February. I had a normal period before we broke up, and we only had sex maybe twice while I was on this pill pack.

Thoughts?

I went for my annual exam today (which, because I see my GP, includes general health as well as gynecologic stuff). After the medical assistant took my temp, pulse, and blood pressure, she asked if I was okay to give a urine sample. I had to pee anyway, so I said, "Yes, but can I ask what I'm giving a specimen for?"

She said that for well-woman exams, they like to give everyone a quick dipstick test (everyone's urine, I mean), to check for a UTI. I've been getting paps and pelvics for... 15 years?... and this was definitely the first time anyone's dipsticked my pee.

I didn't mind, really, since it's noninvasive for me and seemed like a well-intentioned sort of thing. I mean, I'm not really sure how many folks are walking around with asymptomatic UTIs; I would guess they turn up mostly negative results. On the other hand, a UTI is an urgent sort of thing (and a UTI-turned-kidney-infection is an emergency sort of thing), so even a few positives might end up being a pretty big deal.

So I'm mostly curious: Does anyone else's provider do a routine UTI dipstick during an annual exam? Also, what do you think about this as a routine thing? (I want to note -- because I think it's important -- that based on the way the MA asked and my past relationship with this provider, I think I could have easily declined this test with no pressure or fuss.)

Hi Vagina Pagina,

I've been taking Ortho-Tri-Cyclen Lo for over a year. I understand that 1 missed pill is okay and that I do not need to take Plan B. I understand that I can take the missed pill when I remember to, and then continue to take my next pill at my normal time. My protection is not compromised, but...

My dilemma is that I finished taking the placebo pills on Sunday. I started my new pack on Monday, but missed Tuesday entirely. I woke up on Wednesday (today) at 11:00AM and took the missed pill immediately. My normal time to take them is at ~11:30PM.

Today, my partner and I had sex without back-up protection (no condom). Again, I know that missing 1 pill is alright, but I'm wondering if my protection was compromised because my body didn't have enough time to re-adjust with the new pack.

To sum it up in chronological order:

7 days with placebo, took 1 hormonal pill, missed a pill, took the missed pill today, had sex, and then took today's pill at my regular time.

I'm really sorry for over-thinking this. My question is very specific and I wasn't able to find an answer. Thank you to anyone who can help me with my concern!
