I've been on Yasmin for probably 18 months now, and my withdrawal bleed seems to be getting lighter and lighter, and also possibly later and later.

I sometimes stack my packs of pills, or even take four weeks of active pills rather than three weeks, just 'cause it's inconvenient to get my bleed at certain points. If I stack two packs together I can get quite long bleeds that are not as heavy as my natural periods but are certainly noticeable and mean I have to use sanitary protection of some form, or I'd stain my clothes/sheets/chairs/everything.

Cut for possible TMI )

Now... should I worry about pregnancy? Alternatively, should I worry that something kooky is going on with my hormones, given that I have PCOS (Yasmin is supposed to help reduce those symptoms for me)? I know Yasmin is meant to make one's bleeds lighter, but this seems kind of ridiculous...

Saw the gyno yesterday FINALLY. He told me I have a yeast infection, probably caused by the the cipro I was taking for my UTI. He prescribed me Fluconazole for the yeastie. 2) Told me there is also bacteria in my urine, which he prescribed me Macrobid? for. He also said he was sending my urine off to *grow* (ew, I know) and see how the bacteria acts. If the bacteria doesn't grow alot, we will treat my symptoms that I've been having previously as vagina related instead of soley a UTI.

It's a bit complicated, but he said the problems I've been having (smelly urethra and a drippy feeling) could either be bladder induced or vagina related. I'm not sure how the vagina would have anything to do with my urethra, but I'm just trusting him. *sigh*

Let's just hope he has some answers for me next week when he calls!:)

Hi all-
I have a question about the "periods" you get while on HBC. I know they aren't real, because your body does not ovulate and thinks you're pregnant in a sense, so I'm wondering what exactly they are when you do bleed.

Also, I get the symptoms that come along with periods, like bigger breast size right before. How does that work if it is not a real period? and if you stack pills (or in my case, rings) do these symptoms just stay instead of going away?

Thanks!

Hey all,

Recently I've had a UTI (am still having it, but I'm on antibiotics now) and sometime along the course of my UTI, my inner labia started hurting... It protrudes out from the outer labia, and I think I might've maybe dried it too much over the course of my UTI-induced, frequent loo trips... it hurts pretty much more often than the UTI itself. -_-; (Only my protruding labia is hurting... the non-protruding one isn't.)

I've made sure that it's constantly lubricated for a few days now, but going without panties isn't really going to help 'cause I'm having yellowish discharge (uncommon for me, I'm assuming this is related to the UTI and will go away when the UTI goes).

So, anyone had this before, and is there anything I can do to ease the pain other than taking painkillers?

Thank you!

If my withdrawl bleed starts on the third day of the placebos, is there any harm in starting a new pack the next day [what would be the fourth placebo] as opposed to waiting the extra day?

...in diagnosing PCOS.

After 5.5 months straight of bleeding after my Paragard insertion, I finally went to see my school nurse, who ordered an ultrasound for me. Now I should mention that I have a history of menstrual irregularity (amenorrhea for 3 years, oligomenorrhea for several years before that) and have developed some increased acne/hair growth since discontinuing HBC. Some people on here and on IUD Divas had suggested PCOS as a diagnosis, even though I am HWP.

Fast forward to last Thursday. I had a transvaginal ultrasound, during which the ultrasonographer said that I have a number of small follicles (10+ on my right ovary, at least 8 on my left), which are sometimes described as cysts. It's taken several days for the radiologist to look over the ultrasound images and write up a report. The report simply says (and I only saw it briefly, while I was at my nurse's office) that I have "Multiple small follicles bilaterally." and that the IUD placement, endometrium, etc looked normal.

So my question is - am I now effectively ruled out for having PCOS because the radiologist didn't use the exact language of "polycystic ovaries"? Looking around on the internet it seems like multiple small follicles ARE the "cysts" of polycystic ovary syndrome. If so, will an OBGYN be able to diagnose me based on that report? They didn't even mention the number of follicles, which I have seen referenced as a diagnostic criteria (ie: Greater than 5 follicles/ovary = PCOS)....

While I don't want to be a hypochondriac, I also don't want to have PCOS and not get treatment for it - seems like hyperinsulinemia and other complications can increase risk for cancer and cardiovascular problems if left untreated.
