Hello VP. So I'm about to finish my first month of hormonal birth control -- specifically Trivora-28. I took my last active pill on Friday, October 8 and I still have not had any withdrawal bleeding (it's now Wednesday, October 13). Is that normal for the first month on birth control?

As far as I know, I've taken my birth control pretty close to perfectly. I have not missed a pill, and I took my pill around 20 minutes late 2-3 times.

Thanks for all your help.

So I had sex with my boyfriend 2 Sundays back (Oct 2nd), and noticed a bit of spotting afterwards. The blood was fresh (i.e. bright red), so I figured it was probably a result of rough sex (we hadn't done it in a while due to our LDR).

The next day, the spotting continued, except it was a darker brown, and I was cool with that because I figured there might still be some residual bleeding. Cut till today (Oct 14th) - I'm still experiencing that brown discharge, and it's starting to piss me off.

More details: it's far from a constant flow. In fact, it seems to release itself tangibly twice a day, in quantities that are large enough to stain but nothing at all like a period - a lot of the time, when I wipe there's nothing. It feels, um, cold and mucousy like regular discharge, isn't malodorous and I'm not experiencing any other symptoms at all. In fact, it looks exactly like what I get on the last day of my period. Speaking of which; I'm roughly in the middle of my cycle at the moment, but we had sex about a week after my period had ended (my cycles are longer than most - approximately 35 days, or even more than that sometimes). I'm not on any BC.

I know I'll be told to see a doctor, but I'm not too worried because I went for my annual gynae appointment only about a month ago (with everything perfectly OK), and this has happened to me at least twice/thrice before, even when I was very young, around 12 (I'm 22 now), except there is now sex in the equation. I can't decide if there's a connection or not. I'd like to know if anyone's experienced something similar, though? Or whether anyone can hazard a guess as to why this is happening, whether it it's commonplace or might be a sign of something more serious?

Thanks very much for reading, I truly appreciate it. x

For those of you who prefer to trim your pubes (as opposed to shaving) what do you use to do so? I've always used plain old scissors, but I'm starting to get annoyed by it and thinking there must be an easier way. Is there any particular razor (or some other method) you use that happens to be easy AND efficient?

So last night I had sex with my boyfriend. It wasn't anything especially rough or anything but I guess it lasted longer than normal. I was wet the whole time and didn't feel any discomfort.

Today I'm pretty sure my vagina is swollen or something. This morning when I peed there was no burning but it fucking hurt when I wiped myself. Same thing when I went home. I looked a little closer with a mirror and when I opened my labia it's like there was a little blister or something inside, right before my vaginal opening.  I just peed again and it burned this time. Like almost unbearable! I've had a UTI once before and it was the same burning sensation but I'm wondering if it's only burning because of this blister type thing or if it's really a UTI.  Any info would help. The stores are closed so I can't go out and get cranberry juice/pills until tomorrow anyway :(

thanks everyone.
sincerely
My Vagina

EDIT: I'm sitting on a chair and just sitting hurts, it's like my vagina is throbbing, I don' t know if that information is useful

My partner and I just opened up our relationship (yay!). I've only been in long-term monogamous relationships where I haven't been thinking maybe as much as I really should have been about STIs. Now that we're in an open relationship, our most important rule is doing our best to stay STI-free so we can continue to enjoy barrier-free sex with each other without worrying.
So I have a few questions.

First things first, I'm pretty sure I don't have any STIs but I'm not sure and so I want to get tested. Plus I'm super-overdue for a pap test. I have no clue where to go for this sort of thing, but someone here must be from Montreal, QC, Canada and know where I need to go.

Second, I know the drill with safe sex with male-bodied people and in any case I'm more interested in women, but I don't really know much about safe sex with female-bodied people. Gloves for fingering= necessary? How do you use dental dams? Where do you get them? I know some people use seran wrap- is this effective? Stuff like that. Answers to any of these questions or links to good resources would be appreciated!

OK..... so I've been working on getting an IUD and my doctor has told me prior to my first visit that one of the disqualifications for an IUD is having had a previous ectopic pregnancy....

Which I may have had but I'm not sure The story goes:

I had an "ooopsy" pregnancy a few years ago. I was ultrasounded at 6 weeks as prep for a termination and as nothing was seen, I was told to come back in three weeks. Two weeks later - week 8, I had a miscarriage and ended up in the ER since my GP was on vacation but strongly urged me to go over the phone just in case there were complications as I had simply called and reported heavy bleeding. In the ER, I was given three ultra sounds and there was, again, nothing to see in my uterus. I was finally sent home and told that "my baby" was fine.... they weren't terribly interested in me, understandably because there were some seriously pressing cases that I could SEE there.

I received a call the next morning at about 5am as the OB-GYN came on duty. She had reviewed my ultra-sounds and the reports of huge blood loss (confirmed by the nurses) and I came in again and was examined. She told me that my tests were abnormal and that I had a possible ectopic pregnancy, that I had probably miscarried the day before, as I had assumed and the ER doctors had missed. I went for blood tests for a few days to confirm that I had miscarried and was not carrying an invisible and dangerous ectopic pregnancy, which I wasn't.

Since this was not through my GP and at the time I just really wanted to stick my head in the sand and NOT be pregnant any more, I never got a full picture of what happened here. I don't know if I had a ectopic pregnancy which terminated happily early enough along to not cause problems or if it was just a side worry and it's never mattered until now!

Could anyone with more experience here shed some light on this? Is this worth mentioning to my new GYN? Does it matter for an IUD?
