Diet's Affect on Vaginal Health? Antibiotics for BV: Yay or Nay?

What affect does one's diet have on the likelihood of getting a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis?

Also, I have read that women should be hesitant to take antibiotics for bacterial vaginosis; often, the condition returns and then it is harder to treat, etc. Is this true?

First Gynecology Appointment

Hey folks,

So earlier this week, my doctor told me I need to come in for a gynecological exam next month. I am 22, and have been sexually active for 2 years, so I know I'm due. The thing is, I am absolutely terrified. Not scared or anxious, downright terrified. I feel sick to my stomach, shaky, and panicky when I even think about it.

My doctor (and the one who will be doing the exam) is a female, so at least that's a bit less awkward. What else can I do to get myself to calm the heck down about this? And what can I do to prepare? I am pretty natural "down there" right now -- should I trim up a bit? I googled all this stuff, but it's all really kind of clinical examples of what will happen and what not.. can anyone share with me their actual experience the first time they went to an obgyn?

Bloody UTI

Hello ladies!

I woke up this morning with my very first urinary tract infection. Yay (not)! Anyway, I went to Urgent Care and was prescribed three days of prescription antibiotics. As the day has gone on (graduation day, of course), I've started bleeding more and more when I urinate.
My stomach is tender and I'm in some pretty constant pain.
My urine is bright yellow, like someone took a Crayola yellow marker and made it liquid. The blood is not at the beginning of the urination, but rather is sustained throughout. Also, it hurts like hell to pee.
I'm just wondering what to expect and if this much blood is normal.
