To make a long story short, I had a pelvic exam a few days ago and the speculum's spring broke or popped out or something, and the doc didn't realize that, and she started to pull the speculum out...while it was clamped around my cervix. I am, needless to say, rather bruised/sore up in there, and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how long it might last, or what might help it get better soon? I had sex last night because I just COULDN'T STAND waiting any longer, but it hurts just as bad again today :(

Thanks!

So I feel really silly about this but I have to ask. I usually pride myself on being fairly strong emotionally, not crying at sad movies, not having mood swings, etc, but over the past several months maybe, I've noticed that things that didn't bother me before make me feel very much like crying - but without actually being upset.

Like right now I'm watching The Sixth Sense and yeah, a lot of scenes are sad, but I've seen it several times without wanting to cry at those scenes like this time. Right now, as is typical lately, I don't really feel sad, but I'm fighting back tears. What the hell, man?

I'm asking here because I wanna know if it could be hormones. There was no significant change that I know of when this nonsense started; I'd been on the same bc (ring) for ages, no other change in meds, I'm definitely not pregnant and never have been, and I'm only 24. Can bc start affecting you differently, out of nowhere?

I just switched to the Mirena this week so maybe if the ring was spontaneously causing such changes, this it'll work itself outta my system eventually. I did notice also that a few extra stubborn lbs of water weight have mysteriously been hanging around for most of a year, so maybe that's another clue?

Any ideas?

So, I started noticing last night that my vagina felt strange and a little painful. At further examination when I woke up, I noticed a change in the way my vagina felt with my fingers (particularly in the opening, but also there seems to be a pea sized lump directly above it). My first thought was that my cervix is shifting a bit, or sitting low, but I've never really noticed discomfort from it in the past. I was also peeing quite a bit last night. I'm a bit worried I may have an STD since I found out my ex was cheating on me throughout our relationship last night. Also, I have an IUD (Mirena). Any suggestions on what this could be? Do you think it's urgent, or should I get checked out at the hospital? (I'd rather wait until the week when I can see my own doctor).

So... I'm getting married in two weeks, and I seem to be ovulating right about now (EWCM for the last three days), which means I'm quite possibly due to start my period on my wedding day. This would be sort of a disaster, as I get pretty bad cramps on Days 1-2 -- I don't think I could make it through the ceremony, much less the rest of the day.

I know I could run to the doctor and ask for a month's supply of the pill, but I'd rather avoid this if I can, for a few reasons. Is there any other way to delay my period? Or should I just drink a lot of parsley tea the week before the wedding in hopes of getting it out of the way early?

YI & sex

So I had what I thought was a yeast infection...quite thick white discharge, soreness during/after sex and a slight itch, so I used a canestan pessary and cream, abstained from sex for a week and that seemed to clear it up! Then I had sex again, and it was sore straight after sex again and the slight itching is back. My partner shows no signs of a yeast infection but do you reckon he's passing it back to me each time we have sex? (we don't use condoms, I'm on implanon). If so, will the oral capsule be sufficient for him to use and me to use a pessary again? If anyone is in england could they also answer this question. We don't have much money between us, he gets free prescriptions, do you reckon the doctor will prescribe him the oral canestan even though he, himself, shows no symptoms? Otherwise thats a tenner on one tablet that I've got to buy!!

How much ovulation bleeding is considered safe, unconcerning, or normal? (I care more about the "safe" and "unconcerning" than I do the "normal.") I've experienced it with a lot of previous cycles, yes. But in the past, it was always something I'd call "spotting" -- while I might want to wear a pantyliner to prevent staining fabric, the bleeding would be minimal enough that I wouldn't have to worry about bleeding through the fabric.

Today, though, I bled enough to fill my small Lady Cup to the holes -- so 11mL in the course of several hours. I'm operating under the assumption that the bleeding may still be in progress, and I'll check on that next time I remove my cup. (Edit: Still some blood, though it seems to have slowed considerably in the overnight hours.)

I'm not in any unusual levels of pain, so I'm not terribly worried. This is just a little... odd.

I hope you knowledgeable folks might be able to help me. I had an ultrasound scan a few months ago, as I had suspected PID. At the time I was beyond stressed out, as I had no STI's and hadn't had sex in quite a few months(boyfriend was working overseas) so being told I might have PID came as a huge shock. Well, the ultrasound showed no evidence of PID, but I did have polycystic ovaries. Now, from what I understand, you can have this without having polycystic ovary SYNDROME. I went to my GP and asked for hormone tests, and was told no, they don't do them. I asked why not and she basically said there's no need, because PCOS is so common. Well, from what I'd read, PCOS is associated with lots of risks like diabetes and infertility, and I wanted to know if I had it or not. I was basically told I probably had it.

SO.....I insisted on the tests. I had my fasting insulin checked. It was fine. My testosterone. Fine. My luteal thingamajiggy (I'm sure someone else will know what I mean by this). Fine. Everything fine. My weight is average, I'm not overly hairy (quite hairy but I'm half Italian) and my periods are as regular as clockwork. So......I don't have PCOS? Or do the cysts on my ovaries mean that I do? My doctors are so unclear and all contradict each other. I read that 25% of women have polycystic ovaries on ultrasound, so.....aren't I NORMAL? Have I been stressed and worried about nothing for the last 4 months?
