Hey everyone,

I've come for some advice. I've had the same UTI for over a month now and it won't seem to go away. I've taken Cipro, Macrobid, and now I'm on Bactrim. I've been to three different doctors, including a urologist, and none of them can figure out what's up.

Has anyone else been through this? Is it really possible to treat naturally? Should I be concerned? It's so stressful and frustrating.

Thanks <3

I've been on the ring for just over a year now and love it, for the most part. But since being on it I've gone through cyclic breakouts that take a looong time to heal. Before the ring I never really had any skin issues so I'm attributing it to the Nuvaring. Right now I'm experiencing a particularly bad episode and it just makes me feel like crap! I've made an appt. with the doctor to discuss acne medications, etc. today so I'm hoping they'll be able to suggest something other than to stop using the ring (I've tried many pills and all make me nauseated, I love the ring...). I'm wondering if anyone out there has had a similar experience while using the ring and how you dealt with it or what medications/remedies/treatments worked for you.

Thank you!

So, I have posted here before about having problems with painful sex (previous posts here and here). I wanted to post again to provide what is hopefully the conclusion of my story, in case it's useful for anyone else.

After the gyno said I had to go to psychosexual counselling, I returned to my GP. She didn't feel that full-scale counselling was necessary in my case, but she did decide to send me for cognitive behavioural therapy. I had my first session in early January and am expecting to have my last session next month.

It has been very helpful. I am feeling better in myself and more relaxed. After a couple of sessions I no longer felt so ashamed or upset about the vaginismus, and I didn't feel like I was defective. For this alone, I think it was worth going to CBT -- I still had the problem, but I didn't feel so bad about it. But the aim of the therapy was to actually cure the condition, and I'm pleased to report that this week my partner and I successfully had sex for the first time in over a year. There was some pain at first, but we took it very slowly, with him backing out every time it was uncomfortable, and finally it didn't hurt at all, and... it was a lot of fun :)

I know that the problem might not be completely gone yet, and I know that this approach won't work for everyone. And I certainly don't want to criticise dilators or physical therapy or any of the other treatments people use; I didn't try them, and they might well have worked too. But I think it's important to know that CBT does work for some people, and can be an option worth considering.

So, I'm sure everyone has seen or heard about those commercials and whatnot, advertising attorneys if you've had problems due to Yaz. Problems including heart arrhythmia, gallbladder issues, blood clots, etc. Well, I'm really wondering if Yaz is problematic enough that this a serious thing?

I've been on Yaz for about 4 years now and haven't had really any problems, but lately, I've been getting rapid heartbeats suddenly and at random. It could be something else, but the fact that heart arrhythmia is a problem with Yaz makes me a little nervous.

Has anyone had problems on Yaz/Yasmin/Ocella? Care to share any info?

I've been taking Yaz HBC for 12 days now. This is my first month to ever take HBC... ever. Well I'm the worrying type and even though I know that the first month of HBC can lead to spotting, I didn't think it would be this much! I know everyone's body is different but I have never heard of something like this. I have been "spotting" for approximately 5 days now. It was very light and more red at first, but for the past two days it has been a lot heavier (almost like a light period for me) and very thick and brown. I have also been cramping, feeling moody and experiencing more frequent bowel movements (just like I usually do before my usual period without HBC). Should I be worried about this? Is it normal?

Thanks everyone.

I'm 24 & have PCOS. I have had periods maybe once a year or so since I was 18 but for the past few months I have started to get them regularly after starting metformin last summer. It feels so odd to be standing in front of the tampons and pads for the first time really reading boxes and trying to sort out what I should get. I know I'll get sick of it soon enough, but for now I'm sort of enjoying experiencing stuff I never thought I would. I even had a little secret glee when I got cramps for the first time. :D

Anyhow, a couple weeks ago I was feeling some pressure on my bladder/perhaps in my urethra. It didn't burn while urinating nor did I feel like going frequently. Just odd pressure that lasted about a day. I'm feeling the same thing today. My husband and I had sex yesterday and I'm on my period, so I was wondering if the blood/etc. can cause UTIs or UTI-like symptoms?

If two women both have high-risk HPV, and assuming for safety's sake that they have different strands of the virus and are thus still a danger to one another, what can they do to prevent transmitting HPV to one another? Obviously skin-to-skin contact like scissoring is out, but what about oral and manual contact, as long as it isn't a case of touching one vulva and then immediately touching the other? How can hands be sanitized in between to prevent transmission - is hand washing ok, or hand sanitizer, or would latex gloves (changing in between women) be necessary?

Similarly, if a third person is performing oral on both women, what can this third do to prevent transmitting HPV back and forth - is a dental dam necessary, or can the third just wash their face in between?

I'm considering a threesome situation where both I and the other woman have been diagnosed with high-risk HPV in the past, and we have not yet been proven to have cleared the virus from our bodies. It's something I really want to pursue, but obviously I'm also concerned about my health. If necessary, we can restrict the threesome to rolling around together/making out/playing with boobs, but I'm really not clear on exactly how HPV can be transmitted other than direct genital-to-genital contact, and it would be nice to incorporate oral and fingering if possible. (I am not going to have penetrative sex with the man involved, because I know HPV can be transferred that way even while using a condom.)

Thanks for any info you can give, especially medical citations!

I was on HBC for the past 1.5 years and i stopped taking early last month and have been using condoms since. My last period ended Feb 8, so i should have gotten it roughly two weeks ago, but I haven't. For the past 3 weeks i've been absolutely exhausted for no reason and i've been really bloated and queasy. Is it possible that i could be pregnant, or is it more likely that my body is screwing with me and giving me early PMS symptoms? I hear that coming off the pill can make your period schedule kindof wonky but at what point should I be more concerned?

Bad Smell

In the past 3 months, I've noticed a HORRIBLE smell after I pee. It's not an always thing, but its the same smell every once in a while. I've had a new sexual partner since Jan 1 this year. I had a normal pap smear a month ago, and I've had an IUD inserted January 28th. Before the IUD insertion, I got the STD tests. But I noticed the smell before the IUD insertion, so its not that for sure...What could it be? Oh and also when I run...the smell after my runs is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO terrible, but its a different kind of smell. ugh I feel so gross. But ive told my doctor about this smell before..and she just brushes it off. I don't smell like BO after my runs, the smell is specifically from down there... :(

I should also add that I've never had an yeast infection, and that my partner is in the air force and gets checked ALL the time.
