Hey everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful evening/night/day, whatever time it is where you are. ;] I posted a while ago about my period changing after years of regularity, and everyone who commented basically said that sometimes periods change throughout our lives, and that I shouldn't be concerned, so I haven't been. To recap, since I started my period at age 11, I've been extremely regular and consistent. Every month on the same day (give or take a one or two) with spotting, light a few days, heavy one or two days and then it was over. So it always lasted roughly 4 or 5 days. Now, the last few cycles have lasted 6-8 days with heavier bleeding that tapers off on the last few days. I'm guessing that this is what my period will be like now, which sucks because 8 days seems long for me. I'm not on BC, never have been, and I'm 26, 27 in April. Soo.. Sorry for the novel, onto my question. I know that ovulation occurs about 2 weeks before your period starts. Since my period is now lasting days longer than before will this change my ovulation dates, or is it just the start date of your period that matters? Even though my period is lasting longer now, I'm still very regular with my start dates, every 27-29 days or so. So will ovulation still occur as it always has? And any experiences with your cycle suddenly changing after 26 years of the same thing would be awesome, too. I'm not experiencing any pain other than cramping like normal, and although my flow is pretty heavy these past few months, it's still in the range of healthy and normal. Thanks in advance!

i'm having some issues obtaining my birth control, nuvaring, (specifically i have no insurance/am broke with no financial safety net), so i'm planning on going to planned parenthood in nashville to get some more rings. since i can't call until monday, i don't think they're open on sundays, i was wondering if any of you ladies/gents/non-binary inclusives (lol) might happen to be familiar with this specific one. so here are my questions:
first off, and probably most importantly, does this pp only cater to tennessee residents? (do any pps do that?) i live in kentucky at the moment, but the nashville pp is the closest.
second, does this pp operate on a sliding scale/how do they operate? i have a full-time job, but no insurance. will i have to pay for an exam before i get my rings even though i'm not due for one yet? about how much would that be? any idea how much i'll end up paying for each ring?
sorry, i know i should just call them but i have serious anxiety issues and i really don't think i can wait until monday to find this all out, considering my protection expired today (eep). and yes, i know i should've thought of this sooner, but i was even more broke/avoidant than i am now, if you can believe it.
and my very last (set of) question(s): condoms. until i do get back on bc, my live-in boyfriend and i will be using condoms. the problem is, we've been together so long that i don't even know where to start when it comes to purchasing them. he finds it very difficult to come or even feel anything when condoms are involved, and personally condoms revolt me (it's a smell/texture thing). i haven't used a condom in something like a year, a year and a half. (we've both been tested and are sti/std-free as well as monogamous, nonissue there.) what's the thinnest brand? he's rather well-endowed in the girth region but of average length, so can anyone give me any recommendations?
personally, i'd prefer FAM, but he's extremely uncomfortable with this method and, for use over such a short period of time, especially when i've never done it before, so am i.
so...please help! thanks!

I've learned a lot over the past few months about how a bra is supposed to fit which led to the purchase of some 36H bras to replace the 36F's I'd been squeezing into. The new bras are an ASTRONOMICAL improvement, but still not perfect and I'm not 100% sure what to try next.

The underwire of my cups is not flush with the bottom of my breasts. The fitting guide over at figleaves.com claims that this sort of extra space means that I'm wearing too small of a band size, but my 36 feels perfectly comfy, doesn't cause any bumps or bulges, and my ribcage actually measures as a 34. I've even considered moving down to a 34 band since I've experienced some occasional creeping up in the back. So I guess that makes this a cup size issue?

Also, I could really use some suggestions on brands/styles for a strapless bra. My current strapless is a Panache Porcelain bra and it's just not working out so hot. My chest/shoulders lean toward the more narrow range of things (which has caused much bra strap slippage) and my breasts naturally sit closer together. (They actually almost touch each other where the breast tissue merges with my chest.) This bra has a wider central bit that separates my boobs more that I've ever seen before in a bra. At first, it was kind of refreshing since I would wear some of my low/deep cut tops without my cleavage looking obscene, but this is causing a secondary problem of the underwires being way up under my armpits and making bending over rather uncomfortable. Seeing how wide the straps sit on me, I'm assuming this is a design-flaw and not a sizing issue.

What I'd really like is an underwire (strapless or otherwise) that maybe doesn't come up as high on the sides? I'm 5'6" and short-waisted and the whole underwire-ending-just-short-of-my-armpit thing causes issues more often than I'd like. Is there some way that maybe I could pad the ends of the wires of my current bra to prevent the digging in? I'm still holding out some hope for making this bra at leas serviceable.

Any suggestions of websites that cater to bustier gals are also welcome. I'm already a huge fan of Figleaves and I'm familiar with Bravissimo, although they're generally out of my price range.

ETA: I really should have thought of this when I first posted, but I guess I don't "measure appropriately." I've used the bra measurement/fitting service at just about every physical store I've come across and the size they tell me to put on never works. And it's not just an issue of them telling me to try on a 36DD and I have to go for a 38D or a 34DDD, I mean they tell me to try on a 36/38DD and it gives me the quadro-boob effect, but when I venture out on my own and find a G or H, the fit improves dramatically.

Hi fellow vp-ers!

Last night I took a picture of Ms. Meowingthon (I really like the nickname I give my vagina) and I guess I freaked myself out because I noticed all these bumps of my labia minora and they are on both of them. So I searched and I searched and I even woke up my husband to ask if it were normal and he said that the bumps pretty much look like glands and he noticed them before. Anyways, I was unhappy with the with the google image search and I wanted to ask all of you what does your labia minora look like? Any images would be great. I don't know if it is Frodyce's spots or something worse. I'm kinda freaking myself out right now. But I pretty much decided to go to the doctor because I need to get a pap done and all that jazz.

sorry if I sound like I'm ranting I'm just a little nervous and jittery.

and thanks for you help ahead of time.

Okay, I guess I just really need some reassurance on this. I know that the chances that I'm pregnant are like one in a million, but I still need reassurance, and if I'm not pregnant, then what's causing this?

I'm spotting. Fairly light, but spotting. This is day two. It's accompanied by mild cramping. I have NEVER spotted before in my life. I've been on the same HBC for more than 5 years now (Yasmin, now Ocella, which is the generic Yasmin) with great results. I have missed pills before and taken two the next day (for example, missed Thursday, took Thursday and Friday together) and never had any issues.

Here's the rundown of what's happened in the past few days:

Two weeks ago, right before my period, was my last sexual encounter. We used a condom; it didn't break. There was little to no foreplay prior where the penis was in contact with the exterior of my vagina without a condom. The period came as usual either a day or two after the sex (I can't remember which day the sex was, just that it was one of two days.).

Last Thursday morning, I came down with gastroenteritis. Basically, the stomach flu. I couldn't take my pill because it wouldn't have stayed down. Friday, between 9am-3pm, I don't remember exactly when, I took Thursday and Friday's pills because my stomach had calmed down.

I haven't eaten much since Wednesday because of being sick. I lost at least 2 pounds (normal weight: 105lbs.) between Thursday and now. The spotting started on Saturday.

So, VP, what could be causing my spotting? I know I probably sound crazy for thinking I possibly could be pregnant, but I always kind of have that hope in the back of my mind, even though I know that it is just not an option for me right now. I just really need to know what's causing it.

Thanks in advance, you guys are the best.

P.S. While I'm posting, I have one more probably crazy question. The missed pill won't decrease the effectiveness of it a week from now, right? My boyfriend's coming next Friday, and we're going to have a very sex-filled week.

So, about a month ago, my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex while I was on my period. I know it's usually unlikely for a girl to become pregnant when she's on her period, but I was a bit nervous anyways. But that lovely blood stained my jammies this morning!
To the point: should I get a pregnancy test anyways, just to be extra extra careful? Or would that be positively silly?

Thanks so much.

I recently had my first sexual encounter and while plenty of stuff about it felt great I noticed that I barely felt anything GOOD when my nipples were being touched/sucked/etc. Is this normal or does it indicate something else?

Hello all!
Due to a good change in insurance coverage this year, my insurance now covers Gardasil, and I'm planning on getting it.
Personal background, I'm 23, have a 7 year old, and will be celebrating my 5th anniversary with my hubby in July. I've had more than one partner in my life, but have been monogamous since I've been with the hubby. Both of us were tested prior to becoming sexually active with each other, and neither of us has had any other partner since then. We have no intent of having other partners in the future, but both hubby and I agree that Gardasil is a good thing, and since its covered definately want me to get it. I may have no intent to have other partners, but you do never know what may happen, as well as the fact being that there are not so nice people out there, and neither me or hubby would want me to have to deal with HPV on top of it if something bad were to happen. I'm totally a believer in the fact that the vaccine is all about prevention. Personally, I don't think of it any differently than any other vaccine just because its for something most commonly transmitted sexually.

So, anyone out there already had Gardasil? Any side effects you've had/noticed? Anyone else out there agree that Gardasil should be treated exactly as any other vaccine is, used for prevention of a preventable disease regardless of how the disease is commonly contracted?

Hi all, so, I'm on the mini pill Jolivette. I take it at the same time everyday and have been getting regular periods on it - my next one should be coming around March 11. OK- since I'm neurotic, I have a question. I had a bit of a stomach issue Friday night around 11PM ( I take my pill at 11AM). I had two bouts of loose stool. Had protected sex that night and last night. Today, my bf and I were fooling around. He was naked but I was wearing underwear. I rubbed against him for probably under a minute, then he fingered me and I gave him a handjob to finish. Is there any risk here or am I OK? I think I'm fine, but just want to see what others have to say - I need to ease my mind! Thanks so much!!

First off, I did just create this account because I do not want people I know to see this post.

Now on to the problem, and if this post is not welcome here feel free to just delete or let me know.

I have been with my finace for 3 yrs. now, at first we had a great sex life, then we had a baby and of course sex got put on hold because of new baby. Our son is a year old now, and has been in a good night routin for a while now, but my fiance still doesnt want to have sex with me.

At first, he just stopped giving oral, because he said that he saw a lot of stuff come out of there when I had our son and he just needed some time to forget about it.

then, I thought is was just because our different schedules, hes a night owl person, and although I used to be like that, I now go to bed around 10, 12 at the latest. I like sex at night, he likes sex in the morning, but obviously his "morning" is my afternoon and I have the baby and such, then my night is his "afternoon" and hes busy with his things. So I would try for sex before I went to bed, and he either say he wasnt in the mood, or that he would wake me up with sex when he came too bed, which never happend.

Now hes saying that my vagina doesnt have the "best smell to it" even though I have no STD's or infections and thats the reason why our sex life has gone down. He said that he has thought that the whole time, and since we were eachothers firsts he didnt know what to expect anyways.

Does it sound like hes making up excuses? We only had sex once last month, and thats because it was vday.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find it so I apologize if I have skipped over it.

My boyfriend's coming home on leave from Iraq at the end of the month and he's scheduled to be here at the same time as my period. What a joy, right? So I decided to come here for help on answering my question. I'm currently on Yaz, if I skipped the white pills would that cause me to skip my period and still be protected?  Thanks for you help!

Have you ever used Terazol 3 (Terconazole) to treat a yeast infection? Have you used oral Diflucan (Fluconazole) to treat one?

I'm curious to hear your experiences with either of the above meds. Thank you!

Hey everyone!

So I'm seventeen years old and have had my period regularly for almost five years and everything's been pretty normal with it until recently. Starting about six months ago, I started only getting it every other month. I haven't lost a significant amount of weight recently, and I'm definitely not pregnant. It hasn't spotted and is a normal bright red color, although sometimes it's a little brown, but I read that that can just be from dried blood. Is this mild period irregularity normal or should I bring it up to my doctor?

Hi,

So this weekend I made a poor choice and had sex a few times while on BC and Antibiotics (Yasmin/Monodox). The BF did not cum any of the times we had sex (i made him pull out) but I am nervous with pre-cum and what not.

The last day of my pill was yesterday (Saturday) and I should be getting my period on Tues/Wed. This is the first time I've had sex while on this packet of pills... but I have been on the antibiotics for 2.5 months now.

I'm guessing because I was at the end of my pack and it has been the normal 4 weeks since my last period that I am in a highly unlikely fertile time period anyway. Is there any need for concern? Should I go get Plan B?

edit - forgot to add i also took fluconazole for a yeast infection during this pack of pills as well

thoughts?

Anyone else insecure about their vagina? Perhaps I am too picky about myself, and think I have a large clitoris, when I know it is normal size, not abnormally large. I have been told many times it's nice, etc. But for some reason I am just so insecure about it, ever since I started having sex up until now. I don't understand why, but, I want to know if anyone else in here feels the same as I do. haha. And how I can over come this insecurity?

I was having sex with my boyfriend last night and after we were done, we realized the condom had come off inside of me (quite deep inside). I am on birth control (Orthotricyclen lo) but I'm not GREAT about taking it at the same time every day... I usually get within an hour or two, but not always. I just finished my period about two days ago. Should I take the morning after pill or will I be okay?
[identity profile] notknowhow.livejournal.com
Hi,

I had sex last night, and it was a bit rougher then I'm used to. I also haven't had sex in a while, so my vagina might be out of practice.

He definitely hit my cervix a lot, giving me that 'ouch, you just punched me in the cervix' feeling. Could the cervix punching make my period start two days early? I'm on birth control and I usually get my period on tuesday night or wednesday morning. But it's sunday night now and I've started bleeding really lightly (definitely from my cervix, not from my vaginal canal).

Thanks!
