Okay, first off, I've only had ONE yeast infection since childhood, so I don't have much to go on. That one wasn't the standard "bad smell, cottage cheese" type, it was just MAJOR itching to the point where the toilet paper was speckled with blood from me rubbing and scratching constantly. A few treatments with some plain activa yogurt cleared it right up...
Now, I have been slightly itchy for a few days, but I was on my period until last night so I just figured it had something to do with my cup (yay! I have a diva cup now!). Today, I checked my cervix and fluids and my finger came out...kinda funky. Like, it didn't look like cottage cheese or anything, but more like lotion with some of those nasty toilet-paper grains in it (like you get when you wipe something that's damp, and the paper rolls into little teensy balls of grossness). It doesn't smell, but I do have one spot on my inner labia that is sore and raw feeling, and somewhat itchy. Should I go ahead and treat it as a YI?
Second of all, I have heard that all you have to do to make more yogurt if you have the active culture stuff is let it sit around and occasionally add some milk. So, does that mean it just doesn't go bad? I bought this stuff in like may of last year, and it has been in my fridge since then. Obviously the stuff hasn't been multiplying, between the lack of additional food and the cold temperature in there, but is it still viable for YI treatment? I don't want to open it till I'm fairly sure it's not going to be, like, growling at me when I open it. I hate when my leftovers sit so long they come to life...
