I've posted here before about not being able to have sex because it's too painful. I got some great answers and information, and am thinking about seeing my gyno for it. However, I'm still under my parent's insurance (I'm 19) and they're strict about sex and I don't feel comfortable bringing it up to them, so I'm trying to save that for last.

I'm wondering if there are any good tips/suggestions on how to relax before sex. I'm hoping that the pain is just from me being nervous/tense and that doing some sort of relaxing can help. Plenty of foreplay and lube have been used in past attempts, but it didn't work. I've been told to have a glass or two of wine, but since I'm 19, I can't get alcohol and I would rather have my first actual sexual experience completely sober, anyway.

I have muscle relaxers but I don't really want to have to resort to that. Maybe a warm bath would help?

If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to reply.

Thank you :)

Dear VPers,

I've had yellow discharge pretty much ever since I can ever remember. Sometimes it's whitish, but there is ALWAYS a yellow tinge. Today it was pretty much just a nice golden. I have been examined and didn't have BV, didn't have chlamydia or gonorrhea, or a yeast infection. It doesn't smell VERY strong (slightly musty sometimes, but I suppose that's to be expected) and I'm generally pretty active and health. Does anyone else have yellow discharge on a normal basis?? Or could it be something else?

Spotting

I have a quick question about missing pills resulting in spotting.
I went to my parents house for the holidays and absentmindedly forgot to take my pills with me for the first time in five years. I missed three days of pills and started bleeding. I read the packet that came with my pills that said I should take one pill every day until Sunday and throw the rest out and start a new pack. I took my new pills for five days and still didn't stop bleeding so I went to planned parenthood on Friday to see why I haven't stopped bleeding for a week now. I told the Dr. exactly what I did assured her I did not have unprotected sex (well any sex at all really because I don't like to when I'm on my period) and she said I should just throw that pack away I was on let my body have a period and start up a new pack the following Sunday.
I know everyone is different but I was curious when the heck the bleeding stops. I've been having a period for almost two weeks now and it's super annoying.

boric acid!

Awhile back, after the last YI I suffered from, I decided to purchase boric acid to use "next time." I ended up buying this---> http://www.americarx.com/Products/12749.html

Said product is listed under "feminine hygiene, yeast infection medication" and so on, but I am oh-so-slightly wary of the giant poison label and warning "Not for Internal Use."

Advice from anyone who has used boric acid to treat this lovely things would be most helpful. Also, I have veggie capsules, how much should I stick up in there if everyone agrees this is safe for me to use in my vag?

Thanks.

Hey all,

I'm really confused about the whole bleeding-while-pregnant thing. One of my friends recently learned that she was pregnant, despite experiencing bleeding/spotting during her normal period time. Her patient info says that 50% of all women experience some bleeding or spotting during pregnancy. Honestly, this terrifies me. I'm on HBC (Kariva), and my period is normally extremely light and short (2-3 days, barely requires a panty liner). I'm paranoid now that I would not be able to tell the difference between a normal period and pregnancy spotting.

1. What is the deal with pregnancy bleeding? Why does it happen, and how can you tell it apart from a normal period?

2. After reading peeonastick.com extensively, I invested in some pregnancy test strips (the kind you dip in a cup). Can I test for pregnancy using these test strips even if I'm bleeding during my expected period time? Like I said, I'm paranoid now, and I want to test even if I get my period when I expect to. I couldn't find any info about using pregnancy tests *while* bleeding.

3. I'm afraid I'm going to wind up so paranoid that I'll test repeatedly every month, whether I see bleeding or not. I used to trust my birth control completely... but now pregnancy seems suddenly much more possible. How do I assuage this fear?

Thanks for any and all help...

I posted a few days ago about maybe having a yeast infection, but there was no odor, no discharge, only itching.
Well, I used a 3-day treatment pack and it still itches.
Some of you suggested using plain yogurt.
Can you please tell me how to use it? When and how often?
Thanks!

My question is could i be pregnant from pre-ejacualtion?

Because i missed my first period. I believe because i switched onto a new birthcontrol right after my sugar pills from my former birth control where gone. So i started that new pill as if i was taking my old pill. I start the next months pill the same as i would any other time after the sugar pills are gone. And then the inactive week came and i didnt get my period. That was the first missed period. Then i started my second package of these pills and now im on the inactive week and today is my second to last day of them left and i still havent gotten it. So what could this mean? I took a at home pregnancy test and it came back negative. we've had condomless sex a few times. He's pulled out each time, and i saw the ejaculate come out. It wasnt on me nore anywhere close by me. So what could this be? I take my pills everyday. I only take them a few hours apart. But i do take the once a day everyday.

so I went to a NP at a local womens center, got my yearly outta the way, and also asked about this pea size "ball" in my vagina. The NP poked around a bit, noted that there was no oozing/discomfort and couldnt really offer any other insight than an antibiotic perscription and "go see a MD if the swelling doesnt go down."

Not much of a pill popper and dont want to take a mystery antibiotic to see if this mystery growth goes down, google searches have been fruitless so I wanted to see if neone on LJ had had or seen nething similar.

Bottom line: Its peasized, firm and fleshy, a bit moveable, I feel it at the top of the opening to my vagina and just below the bottom of the pelvic bone. I not the location as behind urethral opening because of something the NP said, but with her lack of intervention/knowledge about the bump i dont know how much i trust that. She kind of looked at me all starry eyed when I asked her if she knew what it might be.

Thanks guys!

So about a week ago I decided to try to drink the recommended 64oz of water daily. Usually my water intake is around a third of that, or less. But for a week now I've been drinking 64oz.

Yesterday I started my period. Usually I get cramps for the first 24 hours or so, abdominal cramps and back aches. But this time... no cramps. Nothing. That never happens to me. Granted it could just be a coincidence. But I have a feeling they're related. Women's intuition. ;)

Just thought I'd share! :)

So not only is the love of my life coming all the way from London to see me in a couple weeks so is that monthly gift from god. I want to skip my period, just started on hbc, and am thinking about skipping the sugar pill thing and starting on a new pack immediately. Haven't been on hbc in years, havent skipped a period on purpose since highschool probably...

Will it work?

thanks!

For those of you out there who get periods but don't want to use disposable menstrual products, here are a couple tutorials for DIY reusable cloth pads!

The second one is really cute, IMO.

Does anyone else's skin get really sensitive during their period?  I'm talking about the skin on the upper inner thighs and pelvic area.  Mine get really, really sensitive to the point where I develop painful rashes and I was just wondering if anyone else suffered from this or knew what it was called?

I've been on the nuva ring since tuesday. I've been having HORRIBLE cramps, well in my eyes. I never ever got cramps. my period has always been I would just get a headache the first day and that's about it, but now I have horrible cramps from probablly my body getting use to the nuva ring (I hope)... I also got into a car accident a little back so my whole body is sore. For my car accident my doctor gave me 800 mgs motrins took one this morning, didn't really work. It hurts really really bad. Number one please tell me this is normal and number 2. what can I do for the cramps, what medicines do you recommend.

sooooo... hi. this is going to be a stupid sounding question, but here goes anyway-

i have quite the large and oozy cold sore on my lip. i was in the bathroom changing my tampon, when i put the unwrapped tampon in my mouth to hold onto it before i put it in. finish peeing, wiping, and all that jazz, and tampon goes in my vag. then i realize that i had the tampon in my mouth, and my oozy cold sore was touching it. well.. the applicator. SAME DIFFERENCE. IT WENT IN.

my question is, will cold sore herpes spread to nether region herpes? and what should i do about this? other than go to a doctor, obviously.

i wouldn't enjoy having herpes down there because of a dumb, unthinking mistake. i am slightly terrified.

thanks guys.

Sooo I have 2 questions...

1. If I go have my yearly check up with my doctor, will she still be able to tell if I have a yeast infection or not even if I clean myself up really well right before I go? I've heard some people talk about "external" YIs and I'm wondering if she will still be able to test for it if I'm "clean." I'm just wondering because I think I might have one, but I'm not completely sure and I just want to make sure she can find out for me.

2. Also, for almost a year now, my clitoris has become much more sensitive to touch and often hurts if pressure is placed onto it. Whereas before almost any sensation would feel good in that area, I have to avoid it completely or rub it to the side over folds of skin for it to feel "tolerably okay." It also seems bigger but I hadn't really overly analyzed what my clit looked like until I started having issues with it. I originally though the cause was a YI I had awhile ago, but the YI has gone away but I'm still having clit issues. I saw a doc about it when I had the YI and she thought it was because of the YI too. I also have heard of smegma build up, or whatever, but I try to keep this area clean and can't really see anything obstructing it. It makes me not even want to have sex anymore because most of the time I don't think I'll work :( I plan to ask my new doc about it again when I go next week but I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas of what it could be so I could go over it with her..? Thanks!

Hello all,

I'm new to this community. I've joined because I was shamed from a different community for posting this:

"Dear Women who have ever had a pregnancy scare,

I will post this again, because my other post was deleted. This is a site to inform you of how to get your period back when you've "missed" it. If you're offended easily (maybe pro-life or something like that) then please do not visit this site. I ask that you don't delete this post out of respect of others who do not share your view.

Anyway, here is the site. Click if you'd like, if not, then simply ignore me. My friend forwarded me to if after successfully doing this herself. Then, I did the same thing. Lesson learned. I hope somebody else will find this helpful.

Love always,
Friend who also has had a pregnancy scare
"

I hope that perhaps this is the right place to post that. Also, this community seems ultra interesting. I hope you're all more open minded than the last. Whew, did I get shit for that other post!

Alright, so I keep seeing things about rimming and how going from rimming to cunnilingus is very bad, or anal to mouth is bad infections wise, but my boyfriend and I have done rimming and then a few hours later, he performed oral sex on me and I didn't get any sort of infection. So is it basically a warning of sorts as if to say, "If you do this, you might get an infection"? Because that's what it sounds like to me internetwise. I mean, I'll definitely ask my doctor about this when I go, but since I didn't get an infection, I'm not going to worry about it. I was freshly showered prior to the rimming anyway. We're both STD free as well, if that matters.

So, I use the Nuva Ring, and use it for 4 weeks instead of 3 to suppress my periods. Before I was on Depo Provera. I have not had a period in over 6 years.
Well, this month when I took out my ring to have sex, I forgot to put in a new one, and was without for a few days. Now I am on my period and am having excruciating cramps! I have tried ibuprofen, but it's not working very well.
Is Midol somehow better or more effective? Or is there another method I could try?
These cramps are awful.

So, I have been battling CONSTANT BV. I keep going to the clinic and getting metronidazole in both pill and gel form, and nothing works. I tried boric acid douching... nothing. Most of the symptoms go away for a few days, but always come right back again. The clinician said that it is likely due to using lube, and even after I explained to her that I'm very careful about choosing the lube we use, and making sure there is no glycerin or anything in it, she proceeds to tell me that ALL lube is "nothing but junk" and I shouldn't use any. Which I know is bullshit, but I was desperate enough to try it anyway.

So, we've been trying without lube, and I've come to a conclusion. I CAN'T have sex without lube. I produce almost no natural lubrication, and my boyfriend is bigger than any man should ever be and I'm a very small woman! LOL. So now, I hurt like hell from having sex without lube, and guess what?! Yep, the BV is back. AGAIN.

So now I'm thinking that perhaps the BV is there because whenever we have sex, he's so big that he's causing little tears in my vaginal tissue. It even happens when we're using lube, but to a lesser degree. (He's very gentle, but even so, there is always pain and sometimes a small amount of blood after we've had sex.) And maybe that it's the little cuts that are letting the bacteria in?

I've read about hydrogen peroxide douching... it seems like it would work well to perhaps clean out the abrasions and get rid of any remaining bacteria up there. And then waiting until I'm all healed and trying this all over again. I've purchased some Astroglide, which I've never used before, but it claims to be "the perfect choice for those who may be sensitive, or allergic, to glycerin or parabens."

So I guess my questions are: does it sound feasible that I'm getting these recurring infections because I'm getting small abrasions from having sex? Has anyone here had luck with beating BV with hydrogen peroxide douching? And Astroglide: pros and cons?

I am in a lube quandary. We have used Probe for a long time with no problems at all, but since getting my Mirena IUD, the hormones have changed my vaginal flora in some way, and the glycerin in the Probe lube gives me a yeast infection (or BV in all its glory) every damned time.

We use silicone lube sometimes, which gives me no problems and is delightful, but you can't use it with silicone toys (it will adhere to and change the surface of silicone), which can be quite limiting.

We also use extra virgin coconut oil on occasion, which is also delightful, but also no good for toys, as it can break down the toys' surface. So, great for massage or vanilla sex, but not so good if we want to break out the toy basket.

Does anyone have any glycerin-free lube suggestions? I want to something that will work for all occasions!
