I am getting my first implanon on the 2nd and I was wondering if anyone has been on it, or has good/bad experiences with it? I am EXTREMELY nervous about getting this done. I am really concerned about it causing depression and low sex drive. I am also nervous about the process of getting it put in. I am also worried about it causing scarring.

I used to be on the Mirena IUD and that caused me alot of severe abdominal pain, so I got off of it (in the summer of 07), and now I'm taking YAZ, (but my fiance doesn't feel confident or comfortable with me taking the pill). I also used to be on the depo shot, and that didn't work out for me either, so the Implanon was pretty much my last option (because I didn't want to get my tubes tied).

pregnancy/abortion/pregnancy test questions

Hey, I have a couple questions hopefully you can answer... I'm really in the dark here. And always scared.

I am on the NuvaRing and I have had sex twice this past week. He did not wear a condom and pulled out and his ejaculate was no where near my vagina.  I use my ring correctly and have never been late putting it in and it hasn't fallen out. I'm just wondering what my chances are of getting pregnant if he did not wear a condom? I know that if taken properly BC is a method of protection that doesn't need back up...but there are always "ifs" right? I'm just not sure how big that if is...I cannot get pregnant.

Which leads me to...when should you take a pregancy test? We had sex on Sunday Dec. 21 and once on Dec. 24/25 (it was late at night not sure what time) before this I hadn't had sex since July (with the same partner)

If I am pregnant...My parents would FLIP. I wouldn't be able to attend college. So I would want an abortion. I'm 18. Do you need insurance? I have it (very good insurance actually) but my parents would see it...how much are they without insurance? I live in South Carolina if that helps...also do PP do them or is it just like abortion clinics?

Lastly, how early do symptoms of pregnancy arise?

I think I just had my first ever orgasm! Naturally I was bored and being the insomniac I am I decided to see if I could feel anything if I used one of those vibrators we have lying around. menstrual question

Ok, so I've had pretty regular periods all my life. I'm not all that sexually active and I'm not on birth control. I just started my period last night and usually my period's a deep reddish color. However today, it's dark brown - almost black - and somewhat dry like what you would find at the end of a period. I mean, I'm in the stages of when my period's first coming in so it's possible that it's just getting ready for a flow, but this isn't normal for me, usually I get this at the end rather than the beginning. Should I be worried? I know dark coloring is normal but it's REALLY dry and whatnot.

I overheard my younger sister masturbating with a vibrator. She and I are both home for the holidays for a few weeks, and share a thin wall between our childhood bedrooms. So I was watching the episode of Sex and the City where Miranda tries to remember her number of sexual partners.

It got me thinking... my number is...ehh..kinda high. So that brings me to the following questions:

1.) If you'd like to share [and obviously only if you want to] what is your number?
2.) Do you think a woman's number of sexual partners reflects the kind of person she is?
3.) In a relationship, if two people know whether or not someone has an STD, and the necessary parts of their sexual health...is it important to share your number with your partner?

I'm 21 and since about March, I've had very irregular/non existent periods.

March/April I was under a huge amount of stress, so I contributed it to that. I also took multiple pregnancy tests, and my gyno did a blood test to confirm. All came back negative.

I've gotten it maybe 2-4 times since then. One time however, it was VERY light, and only lasted a day or so. I had one on October 8th. The most recent one was on November 12th, and I haven't had one since. I did however have a bacterial infection, followed by a yeast infection right after. Both were treated by my gyno. I was actually being treated for the yeast infection, when my period decided to show up (on my birthday :\).

I've mentioned my periods being either missing, or very late to my gyno and he didn't seem at all concerned about it.

This is kind of bothering me. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclin Lo (sp?) from the time I was about 17-20, during that time my periods were VERY regular. I knew the exact day I would be getting it. I stopped taking the pill all together, was going to go with the Depo shot, but decided against it. I have a prescription for Yaz, but have not taken that either.

Basically, what I'm asking is what can be causing my missed periods? I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant, since I have NO other symptoms at all, other then my period not showing it's ugly little head. Also, is this something that I should be concerned about?

Brazilian Wax Question

I got my first brazilian wax today and I have some questions.
There are still hairs. What I mean is you can feel the hairs (mainly in the front, bikini area) and they are extremely thin, and they aren't visible at all. While this wouldn't exactly seem like a problem, I was expecting to feel TOTALLY smooth. So questions are..
-Is this normal for a bikini wax?
-If not is it because of a bad wax? Or is it because it is my first one?
-I'm tempted to shave the rest, but am kinda afraid that I will 'ruin' it. I know it's a myth that hair grows back faster when it's shaven, but will this irritate my skin at all and just make nasty red, blotchy skin?

ovulation tests

Do ovuation tests, the ones that measure the luteinizing hormone, display the levels of the LH? She would like to know what her's is measuring at and doesn't need it for ovulation prediction as such, so the ones we've seen that are just sticks and smiley faces are no use. Thanks.

Levothyroxine and missed periods

I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism.  I started taking levothyroxine in October.  I had a normal period in October.  Since then I have missed two periods.  I have never missed a period in my life and I have an IUD so the chance of pregnancy is slim.  The only thing I can think of is the medication causing this.  Has anyone else had a similar experience?  Ive cross posted to a thyroid community as well.  Thanks!

Plan B, yeast infection, bleeding and discomfort.

I'm freaking out right now.
I've been getting consistant unkillable yeast infections for the last 3 months straight. I've never had one in my entire life till I started sleeping with my boyfriend. I took a perscription and I still have it, though it seems not to be so bad.
Question 1.
Why do I get yeast infections when I sleep with him?
It doesn't matter if we both just showered, are using a condom or not or lube or not. Since they've been getting more persistant I've made sure he doesn't put his fingers or mouth near my vagina. He got tested just to make sure we weren't experiencing an STD, but he didn't have anything new.

Question 2.
Can Plan B cause vaginal discomfort?
I know it can cause bleeding, which I JUST started experiencing, I took the Plan B 5 days ago. I'm worried the bleeding isn't being caused by the Plan B. It's a very lightly colored red. I'm not experiencing any abdomen pain and it's 2 weeks from my normal period, which would be a different color. This is the color of blood, the kind you'd find if you cut your finger and wiped it on a piece of paper.
I don't know if I'm having a combination of problems, like a yeast infection with the side affects of plan B. or if I have something else to worry about.

Question 3.
Anybody know how to get rid of a yeast infection?
I've put garlic dipped in yogurt inside of me and let it stay there overnight. It didn't work. I put teatree oil on a tampon and tried that as well. I've been taking cranberry concetrate and changed my diet to where I eat no yeast sugar or dairy(and it sucks.) Still, they persist. This is damaging my love life tremendously. My libido is practically dead. I have a pretty healthy sexual desire and this is really getting on my nerves. As well as stunting my life.
I want to kill all the yeast in the world.

10 day YI incubation?

I have noticed a very odd trend.

I first posted back at halloween that I had some odd symptoms. It turned out to be a YI, and after the OTC 3 day treatment, things were back to normal.

today, I've noticed the same increase in discharge as before. It is not clumpy yet, but the clumps didn't come for me until a few days after the initial discharge increase before, so I'm going to assume and go buy myself an OTC treatment in a moment.

However I noticed something.

The first YI I got came exactly 10 days after a 5 day romp with a man that I am sleeping with. We rarely get to see one another, so when we do the sex is plentiful and frequent. We also do not use condoms, and he usually ejaculates inside of me.

Guess where I was 10 days ago? Visiting this boy for another extended weekend.

So now I'm wondering: A) is it possible that I'm getting these YIs from him? I know men can have them, but it seems like 10 days is a long incubation period (and remember, this is 10 days from our last round of sex, both times I'd been with him about 4 days before so we are looking at 2 weeks from infection to symptoms) And could it be from his semen?

B)could he possibly have the SAME YI from when I saw him in October? I would think it would clear itself up by 2 months.

C) If it seems likely, how does one call up a guy and say, hey, you might have a YI, since every time I sleep with you I get one. Let me rephrase that, since I know how to call him. *Should* I call? or at least mention the possibility? I don't want to freak him out if it is an extremely weird coincidence.
