Macrobid, with no sign of a UTI

I have come here seeking guidance. Wisdom, or a general push in the right direction.

Two or so months ago I made an appointment and had my urine tested, as I was feeling the tell tale signs of a UTI (note: I've had several over the course of my life already, and greatly fear getting another one as i hate them now.) My doctor wasn't there, so I saw another doctor who wrote me a prescription for macrobid. She told me to wait for the results to come in before taking the macrobid, unless things got drastically worse. I waited of out. Things didn't get worse or better for that matter. My results came back with no sign of a UTI present.

So here I am, the feeling is now worse, and last night I leaked a bit of urine in my bed. No blood, and the urine isn't cloudy. I just have a constant need to pee ALL day. I want to try the pills and see if they offer some relief, even though the test showed nothing. Would this be a bad idea?

If I do, do I need to use backup during the macrobid if I am on the pill?

Hello lovely VPers!  I come bearing many questions that I can't seem to find answers for in the memories, and whilst I appreciate it may be better placed in sextips, I'd rather the advice came from this group.

What is annoying me the most is that I'm a fairly rational person and this totally has my knickers in a twist.  It's sex, not rocket science!

 I've been a member of this community under a different name for a while.  Ye are awesome at answering all sorts of questions, so I figured I'd give it a go, though I sometimes have a difficult time saying words like 'urine' or even 'fart', so I made up a new journal to ask this.  This isn't something I'm concerned about, just curious to know, that's all. 

Lately, my urine smells more like...urine.  Well, it smells stronger, but not overwhelmingly ammonia-y or anything.  Just stronger.  Normally, I don't really smell it when I'm going to the bathroom, but now it's pretty strong.

I drink lots of water and that hasn't changed.  And even before, when I've haven't had enough to drink, it'll be darker, but normally doesn't smell stronger.  I've recently started taking a B-complex vitamin.  I've heard (and seen!) that that turns urine bright yellow, but does it make it smell stronger?  I've also just switched to a Tesco brand multivitamin instead of centrum (cause I am broke).  Would that do it?

I don't particularly like that my piss smells more like piss.  But I would like to keep taking both vitamin tablets.  Could it be something else?  Nothing else has changed, except that I've developed a new love of polish pickles, but I can't imagine it's the pickles.  I would like to keep eating those, too.

Irritability - helped by birth control?

So, for the last year-ish I have felt incredibly irritable. I went to my doctor to see if something is wrong with me, and she prescribed me birth control. She wants me to try the patch. I thought birth control made people have mood swings? Has anyone had experience feeling less irritated on birth control?

I'm totally freaking out because my period is 3/4 days late.

I'm 23, and I do have a boyfriend and we sleep together, but we've been honestly good this past month since my last period and there haven't been any nights that would raise my eyebrow, being that we rely A LOT on oral sex. Anyway, on the actual day I was supposed to get my period, my insane mother came storming into the bathroom asking if my period was late. It WASN'T YET. But she immediately freaked me out. We have an awful relationship, and even seeing her makes my blood pressure rise sometimes. Literally. I have been phenomonally stressed out lately because I suspect I will have an extra semester of college to pay for, and I may have to drop a class this semester. Also, my mother (though she has never met my boyfriend) is extremely rude and cynical, and I literally (YES AT 23) have to sneak around to see him. My period symptoms felt entirely normal. Sore boobs, reeeeaaalllly heighened clitoral feeling (it gets super sensitive before my period) until I started worrying about my period being late. My boobs are still sore, but not as much, but I'm not bleeding.

Help, help. Is this unfortunate coincidence and I could be pregnant d'you suppose? I'm going to take a test tomorrow. But I don't want to unnecessarily do that and stress myself further if maybe I don't have to.

EDIT: we do use condoms. :) and i took a test tonight and it was negative! it helped me to calm down quite a lot.

21 vs. 28 Day Pills

Is there a difference between the 21 and 28 day birth control pills?

My doctor prescribes me the 28 day packages of Yasmin. My friend worked at a doctor's clinic for a long time and was able to give me several free packages of the 21 day packages of Yasmin. I just finished the 21 day packages and have to start again on the 28 day ones. I figure they are the same pills and the only difference is that one doesn't come with placebos, but I want to make sure it's alright.

Basically I'm looking for first time menstrual cup experiences. Did you try it for the first time at a time/place where you shouldn't have? What do you think is the best situation for the first attempts?

ALSO: which ones have you found to last the longest? and in that annoying dribbley phase at the tail-end of my period, will I have to use liners or is the cup ok to use for that as well?

Abnormal smell/discharge

Long story short, my LDR boyfriend and I are finally, after many months apart, near each other again. I've moved up to be closer to him while he goes to school and well, as Im sure you can imagine... we've been making with the sex pretty hardcore.

Anyways, lately, I've noticed, especially the day after sex, heavy discharge and an odd, metallic smell. It smells, to be blunt, like semen. The discharge is clear, sometimes a little cloudy, and other than being gross-feeling, not at all bothersome. There's no itch or discomfort, just a whole lotta girly juices. I shower after sex (or a yeast infection will eat me) and it doesnt usually start until almost 24 hours after the sex. My boyfriend and I do have unprotected sex from time to time, is it possible Im just leaking his semen?

The scent is so strong I feel like Im stinking up the room. My boyfriend insists he loves my scent and cant tell the difference but I just know me, you know? What would cause a sudden shift in vaginal odors like that?

Hallo Alles,

I'm making this post in a response to a question someone asked me about how to achieve multiple orgasms, and how to make an LDR a little more interesting in said 'gasm department. I didn't feel comfortable discussing it outside of the much beloved VP "Safe Space", so here we go.

So for me, I've always been able to achieve multiple orgasms from clitoral stimulation alone. I wait a bit, maybe 30 seconds to a minute to catch my breath after one, and then go for another. I don't know how to explain how it happens, though.

Does anyone have pointers to share on how to make masturbation more fruitful?

Abnormal paps

Hey,

I've been dealing with abnormal paps for 2 years now. I was just wondering if it's normal for the paps to be abnormal for so long? I've been getting them every 6 months for over 2 years now, and every one has been abnormal except the one 6 months ago, but I feel like that was wrong or something.

I'm getting another one soon so if that's normal too then I'll feel better. But is it normal for them to be abnormal for so long? Does that mean my body isn't taking care of whatever's going on? Is it the longer something abnormal is going on, the worse it is? Or is it normal to have abnormal paps for years?

breakthrough bleeding when attempting to skip period with hormonal bc

I'm on the Nuvaring, and I'm trying to skip my period by inserting a new ring instead of having a break week. I'm starting to spot a lot, after a week and a half of the new ring. This happened last time I tried this, but back then I just took it out and let my period happen because I figured that was what my body wanted to do. I don't think I'm quite so willing to do that this time, because these things are just too expensive to throw out when I know it's still good for a few weeks!

Will the spotting go away soon? Should I just not even try to skip my period anymore? I had this same problem when trying to skip my period on the pill years ago. Anyone else have similar issues, and did it resolve itself? I just want to skip my period every once in a while!


On a side note, does anyone else have trouble using the ring and a menstrual cup at the same time? I just can't get the ring high enough, or maybe my vagina is just too short. It sort of works, but I still need a pantyliner :/
