HI! I've been on NuvaRing for 2+ years now and am a huge fan. I've been sexually active for just over a year. Also a fan :) My question is does anyone feel like they occasionally have a "real" period even if they have been consistent on HBC for a while? Every once in a while I feel like I'm about to have a hardcore period. I went onto bc because I was irregular and it was driving me crazy, I'd go months feeling like I was just about to get my period but not getting it. Now I don't feel this way 99.9% of the time. But very occasionally it's like my body remembers or something.

Some background: I have had an incredibly stressful 2 months. On April 1st I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer. This is the easiest to treat and is essentially cureable but it's still the scary word. I got my period as normal that week. On April 28th I had my thyroid removed and was placed on replacement hormones. I had my period the first full week of May, again normal. I started a new job checking at Safeway the 14th, like 3 days after my new ring was in. I've had issues getting my thyroid meds balanced (I was having hot flashes) and am still not stable. I also am on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds for 1+ year now. (wow I sound like a mess lol)

So I missed 2 days on my hormone replacement and 3 days on my anti-depressant. Same days... I really need to get better about the dragging pills around thing.  A week before my period I was extra horny, things were upsetting me over the top, I felt out of control, had lower back pain, feeling panicky all those fun things. Which would happen occasionally pre-HBC.

My question becomes does this happen sometimes with HBC? Feeling like you got a real period instead of merely bleeding? I don't normally go through too many emotional rollarcoasters with the ring. Or do you think this could be due to the hormones? I've missed my antidepressant before so some of the symptoms I expected, but not to this degree. Or is this all just lousy timing?

I'm trying to figure out if I should call my doctor or if this is just me being panicky. I feel like this has happened before pre my hormones being screwy but I'm not sure. And I'm not sure which doctor to call... GP, Women's, Endocrinologist or Psychiatrist.

Other info: I haven't messed up my Ring in months (I tried stacking which was a miserable failure) and haven't had sex in 2 weeks, I'm not concerned about pregnancy or STI's. My period feels old... dark heavy smelly blood that is already really dry, not uncommon but typically that goes away after a day and it isn't. I feel like i'm waiting for my period and all i'm getting is this old discharge and I want the fresh blood to come clean me out. And feeling really pre-menstrual even though i'm menstruating and on the Ring.

Thank you thank you thank you

Does anyone know the window of time in which one has to change her Nuva-Ring? I put my first one in around three, so I'm assuming I should put the next one in around three when it's time, but I was wondering how much later?

Also, common knowledge is HBC kicks in after seven days. Is it an exact time, or just generally speaking?

I don't know how many nursing moms we have in this community, but I just wanted to post this in case someone is using this product. I received this alert through Skyscape's MedAlert system.

The FDA has handed down a warning about Mommy's Bliss Nipple Cream (marketed by MOM Enterprises, Inc.) because it contains an ingredient that can potentially cause upper respiratory distress, nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea in infants. The culprit ingredients are chlorphenesin and phenoxyethanol. Chlorphenesin relaxes skeletal muscle and can also depress the central nervous system leading to impaired breathing. Phenoxyethanol (a preservative) can also depress the CNS and thus affect breathing, but also causes the vomiting and diarrhea which can lead to dehydration.

The alert goes on to urge mothers and caregivers to seek medical attention if their child shows signs of decrease in appetite, difficulty awakening, limpness, decrease in strength of grip, or changes in skin color. But that's good advice regardless of whether or not the child has been exposed to those ingredients.

Hello Ladies (and gents?)!! Im going to be a RA for next semester, and since I've always been a huge advocate of safe sex and the like, I will be sure to have plenty of condoms on hand. However, I would also like to have pregnancy tests since I'll have about 25 girls, and honestly, I cant expect every single one of them to practice perfect birth control and such, so I want to have them around just in case. So, any advice as to where I can purchase multiples of tests, that wont be as expensive as the clear blue, 3 tests, $25. Thanks!

Ok I'm married and have a pretty healthy sex life but still enjoy masturbating (who doesn't?) but I guess you can say my masturbation material isn't what all girls use. Recently my husband found out that sometimes I like to jill off to pictures of girls and is worried I would leave him for a woman or something. I have no desire to be with a woman it's just something that can get me off sometimes. Am I out of the norm for this? What can I tell him about it?

EDIT: I started talking with my husband about this and I think he's more relaxed about it. He's not ready to whip out the websites together yet, but I did bookmark some for him to use if he wanted to later. ;)
Showing him this page help a little too.

I have been on birth control for 2 months now. I took BC (ortho tri cyclen for 5 years consistantly and Yaz on and off for a year, not really using it correctly). My husband and I are not actively looking to get pregnant (today), he still puts on condoms just when he is about to come.

I am wondering though, how long it will take for me to become 100% fertile again, after using BC for so many years?

Even though he does put on a condom (I know about pre cum) are there any chances that I can become pregnant?

These are just a few thoughts going through my head. We may be ready to try really soon.

In the past, my vagina and I have been pretty lucky health-wise: I've never had BV, a yeast infection, or any STIs. For the past week (or possibly a little less), though, my discharge has been weird, and I'm not sure what would be causing it.

Cut for Icky Details )

Any thoughts on what it is and/or what might be causing it? It's not a huge deal, but it'd be nice to know if there's something I can do to clear it up in time for quality time with the boyfriend on Saturday.

I got to thinking about something lately. I'm pretty sure I have PCOS, though I haven't been professionally diagnosed. I'm considerably overweight (height is 5'8" and I weigh around 248). I also have excess hair growth where it shouldn't be (sideburns, chin, chest). I can't recall the last time, or year, that I had a real period. My doctor thought putting me on OBC would help, but it hasn't. I didn't ovulate before the OBC and I haven't after. I've been on it for over a year now. What I was wondering was...is having a severe hormone imbalance considered another form of birth control since I don't ovulate? It made me curious since the OBC did nothing for me and I don't know why I continue using it. I'm worried because I've met this great guy and there's a big potential for a family one day. But I fear that my hormone imbalance will cause fertility issues. But is losing weight a guarentee of increased fertility anyway? I'm a bit confused about it really. Could use some input. Thanks.

two posts back to back!

According to my last post I am off HBC. I am wondering if there is something I can do in preparation to conceive. Is there anything that will make me conceive more effectively or quicker?

I've googled this and what I mainly get is "take prenatal vitamins". That isnt exactly what im looking for. I want to prepare my body to be able to get pregnant quicker (as soon as hubby stops the condom wearing). I'm very into naturals and organic so is there maybe herbs or teas that will help?

I'm new to Livejournal, so I hope this works like I want it to...I'm 22 and started having sex when I was 18. My first partner was really self-centred and pretty much used me for sex. Now I have different partner and he treats me much better. The thing is though I am really confused about love and sex. I've always believed that they should go together and I know my boyfriend loves me. He likes rough sex though, which is okay, but I can't wrap my head around the differences between love and sex. It feels like if he loved me then he wouldn't ask me to fuck him or want me to act like a stripper sometimes but then afterwards he cuddles me and I feel loved again. I don't know whether this is my issue (not being able to combine them) or his (not being able to view me lovingly during sex). I don't even really know what my question is, but it's beginning to drive me crazy. All I can think about during sex is that he doesn't actually love me during it and that he just wants to get himself off. I would just love to figure out how to combine or separate the two properly without being consistently somewhere in the middle. If you could help it would be great :)

OK so they say in the leaflet it isn't suitable for people with a history of depression. Well I have had circumstantial depression, but felt that I was over it. I mentioned it to the doctors before I asked for implanon and they said I should be fine. I got it put in 3 weeks ago, and I am feeling less than stellar, I am feeling down, and my self esteem is down, my poor boyfriend is really feeling it.I am paniky and fretful all the time, I stress over everything and I get pissed at the drop of a hat, this is not to mention Having had a crappy few days on top.

Does it get better with time?
Is it something I should get rid of?
Is it just me.

And for those who saw my last post (yesterday) about the YI it was, and the anti-fungal worked thank god!!!

well my boyfriend basically gave me a brazilian bikini wax. well, not quite but it was pretty in depth. he's awesome! it didn't even hurt that bad (even though it was the day before my period) and he got the vast majority of the hairs i wanted him to despite it being his first try. he got this wicked grin on his face and said "this is fun!!!"

i suggest trying to do an at home wax with a trustworthy partner if you want to save money. my "appointment" the other night was basically free, as i made the wax (actually sugar, boiled with water and lemon juice) and used leftover strips of fabric. and free labor ;)

just wanted to share. :)

i am not an avid masturbator. the reason being because i have never experienced pleasure from attempted self-stimulation. that being said, i've never had an orgasm. though, i am not a virgin and have had multiple (male and female) sexual partners, i don't feel that i've ever come close to orgasm. i am aware that few women can achieve orgasm from intercourse alone. i want to know, ladies, how you get yourselves off via clit stimulation.
[identity profile] startstopreset.livejournal.com
I started taking the pill 3 weeks ago, and around the end of the second week, started to have unprotected sex with my boyfriend, which resulted in him cumming inside of me almost every time we're intimate.
I'm now on the week of the pill where I should be on my period, and after 3 days, I still have no signs of a period whatsoever.
I've taken just one pregnancy test and it came back negative, but my breasts increased in size and I'm overly tired, just how I was when I was pregnant before.
What are the possibilities that I'm just overreacting? That I'll start my period later and its just my body trying to figure out the birth control; versus the fact that I might actually be pregnant?
Thanks for all your help!

I was masturbating this afternoon and I inserted a couple of fingers into my vagina and it felt well, different, to the way it normally does. The walls are super-smooth and my vaginal canal feels 'half-moon' shaped (like if you squash a toilet roll tube in the middle), plus I could feel a lump on the top wall which felt like it had a dimple in the middle.

What the heck is the lump and is this normal? Forgive my ignorance as I very rarely insert my fingers inside me (previously was to heavy to insert fingers that far). I'm going to ask my bf if it's normal feeling but in the meantime is it something that I would need to worry about and get checked out, seeing as how I'm leaving to go to the US for three months next Wednesday?

1) I just started HBC a week ago, on the first day of my period. I think today was the last day of my period. The thing is, my periods are rarely ever longer than 3-4 days w/o HBC. What's going on? I thought it was supposed to make your period shorter? It's been a mighty heavy 7 days :/

2) Now that I am on HBC (Yaz), and since I started taking pink/active pills on my period, will that mean that my period will come when I take the white pills? or will it just slowly change over the next months to match the no-period on the 24 active pink pills & period on the 4 white pills?

3) One thing I was just curious about, before I started HBC, my period had a pattern of: the night before getting it there would be some brown discharge, then I would have a day of my period, then 24 hours later it would stop, and resume 24 hours later for about two days. Is that normal? It never seemed to cause any problems, I just thought it was weird, lol.

Thanks! :)

So just a bit of background info:

- I'm on HBC
- I stacked last months and this month's pills
- First month I had perfect use, second month I had typical use but I never took my pill more than an hour late
- I am now on the 2nd day of my placebo week

I just went to the bathroom and discovered I have what seems like ovulation discharge as it is clear and stringy. But it can't be can it? Has anyone else had this whilst on HBC?
Sorry for all these questions, my anxiety goes sky high when I have pms!

Okay...can someone explain something to me? :\ I feel like a dumbarse since I've been using the nuva ring for years and don't know this.

I have read that if you have your ring in for 4 weeks and then take it out, you are protected during your ring-out week.

But I have also read that if you take your ring out for whatever reason (like to have sex or something) and leave it out for more than 3 hours, you need to use a backup method of protection for 7 days.

What makes the second situation require protection? Is it that the hormones have not had a chance to build up because it hasn't been in for the entire 3 or 4 weeks that you normally keep it in?

I've recently started a relationship with my long term friend and its been going great. Till we get to the sex. Its a same sex relationship (newly bi, all go awww and 'pets' :p)
I've tried masturbation but I get...partially there then give up because I get nothing. I can get her to orgasm fine (repeatedly if I do say so myself) but I'm like a dead fish. I get no stimulation from the breasts, nothing on my clit and even rapid movements on the opening of my vagina (wow im using words that make me giggle in real life) does nothing.

I've given up the few times we've tried and I've gotten very upset and cried on her because...well I'm 18 and I do tend to get jealous that she can have this glorious feeling and I seem to have difficulty. All you experienced people out there please, please help me. This wont endanger my relationship if I dont fix this quick but I would like to feel something...its...a goal of mine TBH.

Help a newbie to this thing called sex. (yes this is my first sexual relationship, yes im scared).

Well I went to the gynecologist today, and while I was there I asked her about these bumps I had on my pubic area and on my leg (close to my pubic area, they get irritated by my the band of my panties rubbing against them). She said they were a type of virus, but that they weren't an STD. She said they would go away (even though the ones on my leg have been there for like 6 months) and that I should sleep without panties to let myself "air out".

I should have asked her more about it or at least remembered what it was, but at the time I was like, nervous and anxious (just over the whole having someone down around there and poking around and all) and just didn't think about it, and I have now forgotten what it was called.

Basically they are pretty small, kind of look like a blister type thing (my mom thought they were skin tags), not an STD, and are a virus. I have no idea how I would go about searching for this (all I can find is STD info), does anyone know what it could be? It isn't the end of the world because she just said not to shave them because it could spread and they will go away, I would just really like to know what it is called.

Yeah I feel like I don't have much info to offer but I thought maybe someone would know, or would at least know a few things it might be and I could try to figure it out.

And now this is kind of an odd question I guess:

On the ceiling, directly above the exam table, obviously there for me to look at while getting the exam, were posters of Brad Pitt and George Clooney. I found this quite strange. Has anyone else gone to a clinic or doctors office where there were pictures of men on the ceiling above the table? I'm just trying to think of exactly why they did that... if they were going to put anything up there I would think it would be some sort of health information. But I don't see why you would put anything at all on the ceiling anyways. Somehow I just can't picture this being the norm... It amused me at least.
