Okay, I understand that not getting your period has a lot of benefits...like not having to bleed horribly for a week every month.  I get that.  Especially since I have these horrible periods that it often affects my everyday life because I bleed so heavily.

But I am thinking of getting a Mirena IUD, which claims to either lessen periods significantly (which would not be bad, in my opinion) or to eliminate them all together.

Eliminating them all together freaks me out a little bit.  I am not sure why, it just does not seem natural to me...although the whole situation is a bit unnatural, having that thing in your uterus and all!

I was just curious if anyone else felt this way and how they rationalized it in their mind when they went on any type of birth control that eliminates their period.  I am really into getting this IUD, but I don't know if I can say goodbye to my period...if that makes any sense.  But my periods are far too ridiculous to get a Paragard.  It's pretty much the only thing holding me back from getting one.  This lovely mental block of mine!

Thanks!

I posted earlier about going off depo and getting on a progesterone only pill. Now I'm a little confused.
One reason I want to get off depo is because everybody keeps telling me that it isn't good to not have a period.
But then I heard that you don't have sugar pills with progesterone only pills so is that still bad? Is it possible that you will never have a period? Or does it happen?
Is that kind of pill as bad as depo?

EDIT---
I really liked Depo....but I guess that makes since about the bone density. I guess that is why you can't be on it that long. Another reason I really wanted to get off the shot is because I would like to have kids soon.....in maybe a year or so. But I'm not ready yet so I would hate to not be on some form of pill just in case.
But after reading about being on Depo and have kids they say that it could take a year or less... maybe longer to get the Depo out of you system. So it could take longer for you to concieve. But then I was worried about becoming pregnant with the shot still in my system. I don't know if that would do any harm to the baby??? But if I get on the POP then after I stop taking it I could be fertile within a month or so right??? And that proabably wouldn't be as harmful as the depo if some of it is still in my system.

I have an issue, that has been going on off and on for a month or so, and I don't really know what's going on.

I've been getting these bumps on my outer labia, or occasionally in the fold between inner and outer labia.

They are very sore. They look like pimples, but are almost impossible to pop. Partly because it is kind of hard to get a good grip on anything in the region, lol; and partly because they just wont. On the rare occasion when they do pop I get a *tiny* amount of white, semi-solid out of them, but the bump is still present. Usually I just have to wait it out until they go back down.

What on earth are these things? And, is there anything I can do about them?

Hey everyone!

I saw this article on my local news website, and thought it might be helpful to some of you folks in here. If you're in Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois or Ohio, and have an Rx for prenatal vitamins, Meijer is giving them for free.

Might help some of you all out!

Have a good one!

So I just started Yasmin; first BC so I have never taken anything before this. It was my 4th day yesterday (you're supposed to take it for seven days before having unprotected sex) and I was 4 hours late in taking it-- will this make a difference, or do I have to use some other contraception for seven more days?

I've heard folks brag about this, but is this true or are they exaggerating? I can't even masterbate for hours so I cannot imagine a couple going at it for that long

My boyfriend and I had sex on the 28th day of my cycle for the first time in two months. I have not yet gotten my period and today is my 30th day. I am never usually late but the only day I've had sex in the last two months was the 28th day of my cycle. (two days ago)

My boyfriend and I did have a lot of sex in April and I took a pregnancy test before my period even arrived. It said "not pregnant" I got a regular period in April soon after I took the test (though it was a day or two late but I was stressed with finals then so I thought it was that) then in may I got a period on time but it was a little bit lighter than it usually is. It was by no means spotting but it was lighter.

I've had unexplained weight gain in the past month. My jeans are not fitting comfortable at all and for me this is very unusal because I have been eating quite healthy since the begining of 2008. I have also just had this weird.. off feeling that something is just weird with me.

Is there any possible way I could be pregnant? I took a pregnancy test on the 28th day of my cycle because I had told my boyfriend of the weight gain &the off feeling. It was negitive and that night is when we had sex. Though, that test could have been faulty because it was in his car for a week or so & it has been hot. Even still I don't see how I could be pregnant. I'm more curious as to what you think.

TIA!

I did a search in the history for this but i didnt find anything.

So, had a baby is august, breastfed until November, has Mirena from October-February and have had 3 normal periods since being off the Mirena.

Here's the thing: The last two months I hadn't had much in the way off PMS, just crankiness that normal. Then i get my period and i have the usual crampings, but as the period goes on THEN my breasts get a little sore and as my period nears the 6-7 day(usually the end of my period anyway) i have more moodiness, cramping of my legs(which has been normal for me) and my lower back aches. I use to get these symptoms BEFORE my period and now I get them AFTER. Does this happen to anyone else? These symptoms usually last a week after my period and then go away, as if it was PMS symptoms but in reverse.

I'm getting annoyed with it, but i know there is nothing i can do about it.

So again, question is, does this happen to anyone else?

Discharge.

I've looked through memories and questions and whatnot, but I wanted to ask this question in here since they didnt help me much.

When my boyfriend and I have sex, after we finish and he pulls out, there is obviously discharge on the condom. I'm worried that it shouldnt look the way it does - white, and kind of in small chunks? I had never noticed it a year ago when we first started having sex, but I notice it now. I understand discharge and all of that is white and creamy, but is it suppose to look like that? It's kind of difficult to explain but I just want to know if it's normal. I dont have any itching, or pains or anything like that so i dont think it's a infection.

Any ideas?

i've had my mirena IUD for just over a year now. about a month ago i gained 7 pounds, which is strange because i've been the same weight since i was 14. while i've been this heavy before (mainly after bouts with depression) the weight usually slipped off after a few weeks and it's never stayed on for this long before.

then about 3 weeks ago i started my period. since getting my IUD my periods have been very light and only last a few days. this period was the same, went away after about 4 days, but then a few days later it came back. i've been bleeding ever since and it's by far the heaviest period i've had since getting my IUD i've also been cramping on and off, which rarely happens.

the weight gain plus the irregular period have gotten me worried. while my periods have never exactly been like clockwork, they're generally fairly predictable and this is definitely the first time anything like this has happened.

is this something to be worried about? any ideas on what could be going on? i haven't been to my gyno since october so i figure i'll make an appointment tomorrow just to make sure everything's alright, but in the meantime i'd love some input as to what's going on.

thanks in advance!

so lately... well... for a couple consecutive days this past week.... things my boyfriend did (or didnt do) completely upset me more than i would usually be upset. to the point where i actually cried which can be pretty unlike me because i know that usually i can talk and not take things so personally immeadiately.
i was so upset that i got headphones, plugged them into my laptop and listened to music with my back towards him because he wouldnt take off this stupid headband before we went out.

i feel pretty confident its the HBC making me this "stupid"  form  of moody and i dont know what to do about it.

its my second month on the pills and i still have the nausea feeling occasionally.... hopefully that goes away.

Hi, I've looked a bit through this community but I haven't found my case exactly so I decied to post. Hope that's okay.

I got my last period around May 1st... now I've been getting this brown discharge for about a week or so. When I first got it, I thought it'd go away the next day but I didn't. Sometimes it was pretty bad so I wore a tampon... and I think it smelt a bit. Other times it wasn't that heavy. Two times, though, when I was going to the washroom, blood came out. So I thought I was starting my period but the red went away and turned brown again. The discharge stopped for about a day but started again.

Could it be my period or...? I'm expecting it soon and this brown stuff hasn't gone away yet!

Thanks!

It seems like everytime I have sex, I always get a case of BV afterwards. I'm thinking this keeps happening b/c, usually, after my b/f "goes down" on me, we have sexual intercourse afterwards. And I usually don't wipe right before, so maybe I should start. Anyway, going to the doctor every month is really starting to get old. I've never had any issues with B.V. until he came along, but I dunno if he really plays a huge part in this, or if it's just my vagina. I wanna try that boric acid treatment, but I'm kinda iffy about it. I just wanna know if anyone has ever tried it, and its success rate(s). Thanks in advance!!!!
