So I had been on birth control for 3 years. At first it was great. My migraines had dissipated, no babies, regulated periods, etc etc.

Then about a year ago I had what seemed to be a yeast infection. Extreme pain, sensitivity, the skin was raw and bright red. It stayed that way for a couple months before I bit the bullet and confessed to my mom that, mumbling, "I need to see the doctor..."

So we did yeast infection treatment. The problems seemed to go away. What I didn't realize at first though was that it slowly came back. My migraines also were nearly a daily problem. Yay for ibuprofen! Almost daily!

Another yeast infection came around. More medicine. Supposedly the first one didn't go away completely. It went away but during sex my vag would scream out in agony. No sex for me, headaches, and pain.

I did some research. Maybe a reaction to my boy's semen, maybe it's tampons, maybe its birth control?

Guess what. I stopped taking birth control and within a week I was a crazed headache-less sex demon. The "yeast infection" hasn't reared it's ugly head in the least. The pain during sex has gone away completely and my natural lubrication also came back. What's the best part? All of it. I don't know what it was about birth control... The hormones, confused body, etc etc. But if you're suffering from strange never ending yeast infections... Try it. The worst that will happen is necessity for condoms and having to restart the pill. Not a bad price to pay.

Hi!

So here I am, having some unusual goings-on in that uterus contraption 'o' mine.  I've been off hormonal birth control for about a year now (although I was only on it for six months in the first place), and my cycle immediately returned to its normal, regular self.  Then, in the last couple months, my period began shortening from six days to four (no complaining here), and last month I ovulated a week earlier than usual for no apparent reason.  Since I'm getting married in exactly nine months and I had unprotected sex in my unexpectedly fertile phase, stress ensued.

However, my period arrived when expected after 10 DPO, and I was so relieved to be bleeding that I was giddy.  My Aunt Flo chilled in my panties for four short days once again.  I'm now on day nine of my cycle, though, and I've continued to spot off and on ever since my period stopped.  It's light pink and watery, not enough to stain my unders, but I notice it when I wipe after going to the bathroom.  This is very strange for me, because my cycle is normally regular and predictable (without spotting), and I'm somewhat shaken by this Odd Turn of Events.

Could it be due to the fact I took Plan B last month?  I'd taken it once before a couple months ago, and I didn't have any spotting or other weird side-effects.  If not, what else could be causing my little spot-stravaganza?  I'm currently in the midst of an insurance change, so I can't see my usual doc for a couple weeks.  Any advice in the meantime is lusted after and appreciated.  :)  Thanks!

I posted a while back about spotting on the ring. It lasted about a week, was dark brown... like every other time it's ever happened, and went away, or at least it had slowed down that I hardly noticed. Just in time to see the boy, thankfully!

However, two days after it disappeared, I started a set of antibiotics for a sinus infection I've been battling for a month now, and I started to spot again. But it was much more this time, and bright red. I'm in the middle of my Nuvaring cycle (the original started near the end of the previous month's ring, and I'm stacking every three weeks), and I'm wondering if the antibiotics have anything to do with it because I'm nowhere near the time I usually have my scheduled period if I didn't stack.

I know that antibiotics compromise protection against getting "da preggs", but would that mean it would completely void out the hormones (or whatever the antibiotics do), and cause my period to come early? Assuming this is my period?

I'm not freaking out. I'm just kinda annoyed, and curious.

every time i post to this community i want to give like a life update in terms of my reproductive system. lmao. like "hi, since my last post I've started stacking my pills, bleeblah."

I made a post a while back about all my insecurities/issues and about how I was planning on getting a professional wax.
my boyfriend leaves for a week asap, and I'm just holding off on the sex right now because I'm not comfortable with it, and he can just suck it up. or be awesome and understanding or something, I don't know, it hasn't come up in conversation yet haha. but while he's gone I want to get SOMETHING figured out.

ANYWAYS I saw nair (or something) for down there at the drugstore! that exists?! wtf!
anyways I'm wondering how well it works.. because the thing about waxing is it's pretty sweet if it'll last a while.. but I don't want to be all stubbly and stuff for 2-3 weeks waiting for it to grow back again! i want something where i can be more smoothysmooth, more of the time. maybe. i dunno. maybe i just want to figure out an effective way to dehair in private haha.

so do any of you ladies use a depilatory cream down there? does it work properly? is it unsafe? (I googled a bit, apparently if it's made for down there and you do a spot test it should be okay.. but still i don't want to end up with a 35277 degree chemical burn somehow) or should i just splurge on waxing and deal with the wait between.

(my issue is that I can't get at all smooth with shaving, it just becomes ultra irritated insta stubble. never smoothysmooth like i want.)

thanks, sorry for being a nuisance with my pubic hair insecurity extravaganza, this is at least the third post on the subject.

Hello lovelies;

So, next week I have my 'annual exam,' and will be getting a birth control prescription.  I've been on Yasmin for about 2 years, and while it hasn't been as bad as when I was on Ortho-Trycyclin Lo... I still have reoccuring YI's and moodiness and general discomfort.

Also, I'm taking Zoloft and since I started it, I've been bleeding for a week in advance to my actual period.  As you can imagine, it's a bit of a pain.

Thirdly, I have a super duper sensitive system... so I'm hoping to find something that will treat it nicely.

And finally- I'm dirt poor, so birth control that costs more than the $30 I spend on Yasmin probably isn't going to cut it. (That's my co-pay with insurance.)

My question for you lovely ladies is... What are your reccomendations for birth control options I might want to ask about?  What do you take, has it worked well for you, etc. I can remember to take a pill every day, but I'm open to other options.

Thank you so much!

I'm on Levora and recently was put on Lamictal (anti-convulsant/mood-stabilizer). While most reports state that lamictal isn't going to reduce the efficacy of the HBC some actually do. Furthermore HBC halves the ability of lamictal to do its job to the point that you should never up your dosage on your inactive pill week because the levels will go up, effectively, four-fold and could lead to SJS and the burn ward is not a good vacation spot.

While I talked to a NP at Planned Parenthood about other methods I'm not 100% on their familiarity with the interactions. She actually said "well that one isn't on the list hun". I'm in a nasty double-bind here. I need both at full strength to get the desired and very necessary results, odds are good that this med is with me for life now and going off either is a no go >_< I would love some advice on the topic or to hear if others have had similar experiences.

Relevant notes: CF but too young for a tubal, allergic to metals (no para-guard for me), never been pregnant (10% expulsion rate on IUDs) and DH hates condoms with a deep and unending passion.

Hey everyone, I have a question and I am a little embarassed to ask because I don't want to look like a sicko haha.. I hope this post is appropriate for the community. Basically, some of the porn that turns me on involves things that I think would be completely unacceptable in real life, some of the things are immoral (to me) or even illegal..basically, without getting into to much detail, sex that is not entirely consensual (not really violent either though). I can't really reason with why I like it because nothing like this has happened to me (not that a person would necessarily enjoy it even then, I just mean there is no trama to consider), and it is actually one of my worst fears. The thought of people ACTUALLY doing these things in real life makes me sick and saddens me, and I feel terrible for the victims. All of these films are staged, if they were real it would freak me out.

I also like "normal" porn (whatever that is)..I don't know, I just don't really know how to feel about this..can anyone relate at all or offer some insight?

Every time my fiance ejaculates into my vagina, I get serious burning. Like, so bad that it hurts to sit down for like an hour if I don't wash immediately, and even then it still stings for quite some time.
There is never swelling, and when he comes on my belly instead I never get a rash or anything.
Why does this happen?
Is there a way to prevent it without using condoms or withdrawl?

So, after I'd gotten a Brazilian wax last month, I'd tried shaving anything that was growing back in, then realized it wasn't so easy. I got NAIR and just used it, and I noticed as I was wiping it away that, towards the rear of my vagina were a couple of red bumps. They're a little bit red, not that big, and don't hurt or itch. They pretty much resemble the bumps I'd get on my bikini area when I would shave that.

I'm just getting nervous... and need reassurance. Are these ingrown hairs or should I be worried? Thanks!

My last period ended only 11 days ago, but I feel like I'm already having PMS symptoms again! I'm having cramps, headaches, bloating, and crazy hunger.

But is it really possible to have PMS so soon after finishing a period?

So OK, I've got a lump. I'm not thinking cancer, because I'm only 24 and I had a benign lump biopsied in exactly the same place when I was 18, and this one is pretty much identical. It moves under the skin and all the other stuff that usually means don't panic. Also my sister has just had one pretty much the same, so it's not a huge OMG I R SICK drama, I just don't like the thing. I'm also quite annoyed with the general lumpiness and soreness, it's not agonising or anything, just annoying. Thing is I know that's usually realted to your menstrual cycle, but I have an Implanon and have only had one period since 2004, and this boob trouble has only resurged recently.

So the basic moral is, I want rid of the things, but I don't think it's worth troubling a doctor, especially since I think in the UK (I may well be wrong) ALL breast lumps have to be referred to a specialist, and I don't wanna clog up their turnover time with my blocked ducts. Is there any sort of self-care for the lumpy boobs?

As I'm sure many of you do, I use my cell phone alarm to remember to take my birth control. I take my pill at 11pm. Last night, at about 11:50, I realized the alarm had not gone off. I checked, and the phone was on, in my purse. The alarm was still set. I think my phone wants me to get pregnant.

what do doctors know about how chances go for breast cancer if it runs in your family? both my mom's sister and mother had breast cancer, one died from it. the other very well could have beat it but decided to try chinese medicine and many alternatives instead of having the malignant lump removed. my mom, female cousins etc are all fine- but i know my rate indeed is higher than that of an average female. anyone know more about this? i am too young for a mammogram (almost 21) and not considering gene testing at this time.

thank you for any words of help :)

So, tomorrow I have to see the ob/gyn for the first time AND for a visit because I'm pregnant. I was wondering if the doctor will do the same things as she would during a normal visit. Can someone please let me know what will be done tomorrow that has been pregnant and knows what it will be like? I'm kind of nervous about it. What kinds of questions will I get asked?

Hi ladies, I am bad at the finding what I need around here, so I apologize if this has been posted before.

I took Plan B about two months ago after a drunken sexual encounter. I had my withdrawal bleed a few days - nearly a week later. It wasn't really much of a period, because I had been very near the beginning of my cycle when I took it, heavy for one day and then virtually gone, I figured my uterine lining hadn't had much of a chance to build.

So now, here I am two months since I took that pill, and just under two months since I last bled. No period. I am quite sensitive to synthetic hormones and had an absolute nightmare with hormone withdrawals and my body's re-balancing act when I decided to stop taking HBC after 7 years. What I have been experiencing over the past two months or so reminds me very much of what I went through during that time. Since Plan B is essentially a high dose of HBC, it makes sense that my body could be going through the same thing again, trying to re-balance after these synthetic hormones crashed the party. OH! And of course, yes, I have taken pregnancy tests, which have been negative. So far only urine tests. If I do not get my period this week, I will be seeing my doctor. Since Plan B is supposed to delay ovulation, is it possible it really delayed it? I think I may have ovulated about two weeks ago - which would be a huge delay, so I am hoping my period is going to arrive any day now, but this roller coaster is unpredictable. I do feel like I may be beginning to get back to normal, but slowly, which is another reason I am hoping that my period is on the way. There has been LOTS of other stress in my life these days, but when I have missed periods due to stress, I have never experienced the other side effects.

So that all brings me to the question: Has anyone else ever experienced this? I feel like I am going nuts here! I am bloated, irritable, gaining weight, breaking out and feeling like an outsider in my own body. I never get PMS like this, the only time I recall feeling this way was when I was coming off the HBC.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, you superstars you :)
