spamanda77.livejournal.comOkay, so I've had my IUD for almost 18 months and I love it. BUT, we are discussing trying to get pregnant and talking about removing my Mirena.
A little background:
I was on ortho tricyclen for about 8 hours, took a year to get pregnant when I went off HBC. I didn't ovulate regularly (and didn't want to take pills for it, since the point of going off HBC was trying to get back into a "normal" cycle for my body).
I've had totally irregular cycles with my Mirena. Bleeding, spotting, you name it, i've had it. It's gotten less bad since I hit the one year mark.
Questions:
I have heard you have to wait 3 months to try to get pregnant after IUD removal. Anyone else hear this? Of course now I can't remember where I read it, and everything seems to say "you can get preggers right away" as if it's a bonus.
Do I want to find a doc who is experienced in removal? I've been seeing a resident lately (fav doc left, long story...) but I've also been considering going to a woman's clinic that just opened in our town. (Not like Planned Parenthood, this is a place that's more like a woman's health/pregnancy place... seems pretty cool)
Those of you who have had an IUD and successfully gotten pregnant after, how long did it take? If you've been on other HBC, was it approx. the same?
Thanks for all your help, you ladies rock!
