possible YI, never dealt with this before

So basically, my vulva feels like a bug bite. It's entirely external. No weird discharge that I've noticed (but I did JUST finish my period).
I had lots and lots of sex in the weekend prior to my last period. Going into my period after that, my vulva was very sore and it also occasionally hurt to pee. No itching though. My period lasted the same length it always does, though it had a noticably different smell throughout if that makes a difference. The first day off my period (yesterday) was fine, no itching, a little burning when I peed but over all the soreness was gone.
Today I woke up, nothing is sore, but this itches like all hell.
This has happened to me before (totally external itchiness), but years ago. When that happened I'd just tough it out for a few days and it'd go away, or I'd put some kind of anti-itch cream on it if it got unbearable. Probably not the best idea, but hey, I was 12. I'd like to actually figure out what the hell this is and treat it correctly this time.
Is it a YI? If so, will my "leave it alone until it goes away" method work, or is that a really really bad thing to do? Again, no weird discharge.
I thought it might have been a UTI because of the peeing thing, i don't know if that's associated with itching, but again never treated that either.
Thanks everyone!

i am experiencing what i believe is a rather nasty YI...i've been taking hefty amounts of acidophilis and using garlic suppositories at night...the symptoms aren't really going away (very dry, itchy, red, etc.)
i wanna just bite the bullet and get an OTC remedy, but everyone seems to think poorly on them
any thoughts/suggestions?
hymen possibly covering vagina enterance

Ever since then, its happened almost every time I use a tampon now. I'm too scared to use one again and its too difficult to keep using my fingers to pull it out. I think it might be part of my hymen?
Can anyone help me? I'm terrified to think that I might have to have some kind of surgery or something to remove it.
Another question reguarding HBC pills.
Dec. 11th, 2006 03:34 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
So I took my pill at the regular time, 2PM, & I had a little stomach ache a couple of minutes later. Maybe it was the pill or the food I was eating, but I really don't know. However, around 3:20PM to 3:30PM, I had to go to the restroom really badly & it ended up being really soft stools (diarrhea-like). So I was wondering if the pill (that I took today) would be considered as a "miss" pill?
From VP's vulvapedia, it says if diarrhea occurs within 2 hours of taking the oral contraceptive, it would be considered a "miss" pill. But from this website, it talks about SEVERE diarrhea within 3-4 hours of taking the pill. I only had this one time today of diarrhea, so I'm a bit confused
I'm also new to HBC, so I am still on the 7 day waiting period for protection. & if it helps, I am on Levlen 28 Tablets.
Thank you again for reading my post 8) & BTW, the community is great! So resourceful & helpful!
HBC and Anesthesia
Dec. 11th, 2006 06:12 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
I'm going back home on Wednesday after finals for a month for winter break(!) I'm going to see my boyfriend in that time, so I want to go back on NuvaRing just for some peace of mind. I'll only stay on it for about one cycle until I have a period, then I'll be getting my IUD.
I have an appointment to get my wisdom teeth removed on December 18th. I'll be going under heavy sedation - almost the same effect as general anesthesia, but you're allowed to breathe on your own. I've gone under heavy sedation before, when I had some stomach biopsies taken, so I have a pretty good idea how I'm going to react to the drugs.
Now, I know that any form of HBC slightly increases one's risk of developing blood clots. Going under some form of anesthesia also increases the risk of developing blood clots in the legs, lungs, etc. while you're under. Am I correct in assuming that going on HBC and going under anesthesia at the same time would be a bad idea because of the risk of blood clots? Or is the risk still small enough where the benefits would outweigh the risks? I'm 18 and I don't smoke, if that helps.
I'm perfectly fine with the idea of using just condoms, if the risk is significant.
Also, if it turns out that it is okay to go back on NuvaRing, is it true that you can start it at any time, not necessarily during your period? I've heard that if you're going on BC to keep from getting pregnant, then you should start it during your period, but if you're just going on it to regulate your cycle, then you can start it at any time. It's too late for me to start during my period, but I'll definitely still use condoms whether I go back on BC or not; I just want to make sure I have a period during winter break so I can get my IUD.
Sorry if this is at all difficult to understand - let me know if I need to clarify.
