Hello everyone! I'm in need of some help.
I just got back from spending the weekend with my boyfriend and I'm a bit worried.
We have sex whenever we see each other, which is usually about every two weeks, and everything has been fine up until now.
This weekend, though, it wasn't the same. Sex hurt for me. It was very sore going in. And my vagina has been irritated because of it. Itchy, redness, burning.
That's not the only problem I noticed, though. When I had my hand on my boyfriend's penis I noticed that I felt 2 rough feeling scab-like bumps near the head. I examined them in the light and they looked exactly like tiny scabs that could have possibly bled before, but were drying up.
I'm wondering, first of all, what the hell this could be, and if we could have transmitted anything to each other.
We usually use condoms, but sometimes he'll stick it in a few times before he puts one on, so that could've done something.
:/// Anyone ?

can you put your nuvaring back in after a LEEP procedure? I know you can't have PIV sex for up to 6 weeks and nothing in the vagina for the same amount of time, but I know you can put the nuvaring in after other procedures that nothing is supposed to be in the vagina because the material that it is made out of dosen't harbor bacteria. but I am curious about this particular procedure. can anyone help me? has anyone had a LEEP who is on the nuvaring? what did your doctor advise you to do? I am mid-cycle and have a LEEP scheduled on monday, I really dont feel like screwing up my cycle if I dont have too.

Hello,
After years of having incredibly irregular periods, I've just started to get my periods on a fairly regular basis. Because I missed so many of them when I was younger, I'm not really used to them, and so I don't really know all the basics that other women do.

Anyway, I wanted to ask if it's normal to gain 4-5 pounds on your period. I usually weigh about 113, but today, when I stepped on the scale, I weighed 118. I haven't changed my eating habits, and I'm not taking any new medication, so I don't really know how to account for those extra pounds. My only guess is that it might be period water-weight, but I'm not sure if that's grounded in medical fact or not. Anyway, I thought I'd ask here, because I'm not really sure what else it could be.

Sorry if this question has been asked before; I searched the archives but none of them seemed to have the answer.

At the end of last week I realized that I had hemorrhoids. I had one once before a few years ago and have the same symptoms...kind of. This one is now accompanied by bleeding. It's bright red blood and happens primarily after a bowel movement, but then will linger for hours afterwards. Anyway I can try and stop this/make it go away as fast as possible? I've heard things about using witch hazel - any truth to this? Any advice would be appreciated.

I have what will (hopefully) be a quick question regarding the subject line. I had unprotected sex with an untested partner nine days ago, and then again five days ago. I don't have any symptoms of anything as far as I can tell, but I would like to get myself tested. I've read that certain STIs/STDs can be tested for just one day after unprotected sex, but I read somewhere else that one to two weeks is the typical amount of time you should wait to go in. All of the information I've read was rather vague so I don't really trust it, but I figure going in around the two week point wouldn't hurt.

Does anyone have any suggestions for when I should go in? If I go in at the two week mark, will it be recommended that I come back in a month (or something) to be retested? I know HIV can only be tested safely after 6 months, but does anything else take a while to show up?
Also, I've read that some STIs/STDs (such as chlamydia) will show no symptoms for a while, if at all (?). If this is true, will the doctors be able to tell that I have it (if I do), or will I pretty much not know about it until symptoms show up? And on that note, what kind of testing should I ask for? Blood test? Pap smear? Other?

I really don't know what I'm getting myself into (if you couldn't tell), but I want to get myself checked out and any and all information anyone gives will be helpful. If anyone knows of a service where people go in to get tested with you for moral support, let me know! :)

Thank you.

Hi all, 20 years old and I am new to the community. I just have a few questions/concerns about yeast infections, particularly my yeast infection.

I have just finished 2 courses of antibiotics for bronchitis and have now been left with a very very nasty yeast infection. I have never had a yeast infection so bad before. The pain associated with being so itchy is almost intolerable. Yesterday I went and got myself some canasten pessaries, a 6 day course along with some topical canasten cream for the outside. I popped the pessarie in last night and put some cream and lose fitting cotton undies on. All was well until a few hours later when I was lying in bed. I found myself not being able to even sleep because of the sheer discomfort.

I got concerned since I’ve never had a yeast infection this bad before, I got out a mirror and had a look at my vagina. I saw a bit of the white discharge that comes along with a yeast infection, then I looked around a bit more and noticed that (this may be unrelated so ignore it if you want) there was a sort of… pump on my anus. It felt swollen and sore. I have never noticed it before, or even seen it before. I freaked out. On further examination on my bits I slid the tip of my finger into my vagina and noticed everything felt…. Different. Almost very very swollen and perhaps more lumpy/bumpy than ever before.

So my questions are these:

1 – What can I do to help with the pain/itching? The pain/itchy feeling feels really deep inside of the vagina. The cream seems to be helping the itching on the outside.

2- What could have possibly been that weird lump on my anus?

3- Is something seriously wrong with me, because my vagina feels more lumpy and different to how it did a week ago? (The lumps don’t feel like sores or anything like that, they are defiantly fleshy and part of the vagina)

I don’t know if this will help, but I am quite sexually active. My boyfriend and I don’t use condoms as I am on Yasmin. I am the first person he has sex with, without a condom and I know for a fact he isn’t sleeping around. I have been tested and such and haven’t had any odd vaginal symptoms or distresses until now, so I am pretty convinced this is a yeast infection related thing…

Thanks in advance!

Hi all,

I've posted here several times before and it's been okay, but just in case: If this is inappropriate, let me know, and I'll remove this post.

I'm a writer (You can see my work at my Web site, www.heatherboerner.com)n and I'm doing a story for Planned Parenthood's teen website teenwire on emergency contraception. The general idea of the story is to encourage girls to get a prescription for emergency contraception just in case. Feel freel to comment on what you think of that idea--it's a new one for me, actually. I'd never heard of it before. I think the idea is to get a prescription from your doctor so that if you need EC, on the weekends or when the doctor's office is closed, you don't have to wait to take it.

But really, what I'm looking for are girls who have used emergency contraception to talk about their experience getting it and using it. I don't have to use your name if you're concerned, but I would need to talk to you on the phone in the next week or so.

If you're interested, please respond here with your email address or email me at heather at heatherboerner.com.

Thanks!

Heather

Hello all,
I am new and fairly confused on all things regarding sex. Here are a couple of questions:
1.When I was about 13 I took my family's back massager and began masturbating  with it. Ever since I have been using that same massager. I think that when compared to other vibrators it goes pretty fast and hard. Now I am worried that my clit isn't sensitive enough to reach climax without it. I've tried stimulating my clitoris with just my hands but it doesn't work. Advice, please? Am I a lost cause?
2. I have just met someone and it is decided that we are not going to have sex. Does anyone know of any other fun sexual activities other then sex/oral? EDIT: If i were to consider giving him oral, is it possible to do so  having him wear a condom? What about all that swallowing business?
I am very inexperienced and my partner is a lot older then I am so I feel absolutely lost and bewildered.
