I checked the tagged archives but didn't find anything like this, so...

First off, I'm 18 and have never have a child, so haven't breastfed.
I'm not on birth control at the moment and I'm not sexually active.
I've never had nipple discharge of any sort before, at least none that I have noticed.

I've noticed over the last 2 months, give or take a little, that when I squeeze my nipples most of the time I notice a hard, white stuff, sort of like what can come out of some white-heads and it's about the same hardness as what come out when you squeeze a blackhead. This white stuff is NOT coming out of my milk ducts. It comes out from little "white heads" on the rest of the nipple. They reminds me of the white spots I get on my arms sometimes.
I only have about one, maybe two spots on each nipple at a time, and so far it's always in the same place.
It's not painful other than the normal pain I'd get from squeezing my nipples hard.
I don't think it smells at all.
The white stuff doesn't come out unless I squeeze it out.

Anyway, I had both nipples pierced but removed the piercings around New Years 2005/2006. They were pierced for just over a year. The piercings never really healed properly and they had started to grow out when I finally removed them (I would have removed them sooner had I not liked them so much). The white stuff hasn't really come out of the areas where I'm scarred from the piercings.
The white stuff also seems to come out of my left nipple more, which, if I remember correctly (which I'm not sure I do) also happened to be my worst nipple when it was pierced.

Basically I want to know if I should be particularly concerned and see my doctor, or to keep an eye on it and if it seems to get worse then see my doctor?
Or whatever else anyone here may suggest.

ALSO, is this normal:
I have bumps on my areola and sometimes hard white stuff comes out if they're squeezed. I noticed this way before the nipple thing.

I hope all this was descriptive enough.
That's all for now, thanks!

EDIT: Thanks to everyone who commented. Nice to know it's all normal!

Hello, superstars!

We are in the process of updating the Yeast Infection entry in the Vulvapedia, and we're hoping that you can help us out. We would like to hear about your experiences using gentian violet to treat yeast infections.

Some of the things we're curious about:

- what equipment you used (speculum? cotton swabs? towels?)
- where you got your supplies
- how you did it
- how easy/hard it was
- sources for information on gentian violet and how to use it -- websites, books, articles -- whatever you've got, we're interested!

Any information that you feel comfortable sharing would be much appreciated. :)

Thank you!

Jocey

Hi all.

Not long ago I had a very nasty UTI which did eventually clear up (or so I thought).
Now, whenever I pee I have this really awful smell that I honestly cannot describe. It is foul. I know if a UTI is left untreated it can spread to a bladder infection, is that what you think has happened?
Or would I be sick etc?
I know kidney infections can make you extremely ill but I've never heard the symptoms of a bladder infection.

Any other stuggestions for what this might be are also welcome.
Thank you.

A few months ago I began taking HBC in the form of the nuvaring. I really liked it because i didnt have to worry about taking a pill everyday and I didnt have any hardcore side effects. The only thing that happened to my body, besides not having babies, is that I would get a really creamy white discharge. It wasn't an infection of any sort, and I have read of girls finding similar substances on their rings when they popped them out to check on them. The discharge wouldnt really be a problem, it didnt leak out of me much except during sex (in which case it made for extra lubrication which was a plus), except that it had a strange, sour-ish taste that wasn't really pleasing to my bf. I dont blame him, i didnt think it was too great either, but he would be the one with far more contact with it.

Anyway, my ring got knocked out last week and I havent been able to get another one (im waiting for my school to get my medical records from my gyno and shedule an appointment) and since being without it the discharge and bad taste have stopped. Im conisdering maybe switching to another type of HBC to avoid it starting again, but im not sure yet. I will of course talk to the doctor when I finally get my appoitment scheduled, but i was wondering if anyone here had a similar situation.

Did anyone experience thick, unpleasantly flavored discharge on the ring? Did it go away after being on the ring for a while? Does anyone on different bc experience this? I assume its because the ring is in the vagina that it happens, but its good to know of other forms of bc do this as well.

What are people's experiences with the HPV vaccine?  I read on the website that it may be helpful even if you don't have the virus.  Any thoughts?  I know that it is a series of shots and I found out that I would be able to get them after the first of the year.  Alternatively, I am monogamous and have never had a abnormal pap in the past.

I just got my test results back, and I have strain 52 of HPV. I go for my colposcopy on wedensday. has anyone had this strain or know of a place where I can go and find out info about certain ones? I checked the facts here but it had info about HPV in general, not specific ones. I know there are certain strains that cause cancer and I was wondering if this is one of them, any info at all you have to ease my mind until wed. would be appreciated. thanks.

Here's the deal:
So I'm on the Nuvaring for almost a month, it's comfortable, it works, everything's all hunky dory. Right? Nuh uh.
The other night the boyfriend tells me that whenever we have sex, it scrapes against his dick and it hurts him.
This is enough to make me want to punch a hole in the wall, or failing that my boyfriend. The ring honestly seemed like my only option left (allergic to latex, frightened away from the patch, faaar too absent-minded to take the pill, let down by diaphrams and denied an IUD on the grounds that I have not given birth).
So... is there something I'm doing wrong here? I don't think I inserted it wrong or not far enough up, but I don't know at this point. Any other ring users encounter this problem/what did you do? Could I POSSIBLY take it out during sex or is that just a bad idea?
Thanks ladies.

Hello again ladies! I was just curious. When Aunt Flo comes to visit, what do you feed her? What kind of cravings do you have? Do you crave the normal salt and chocolate, or does your period diet consist of something stranger. I'm on mine right now, and I want pizza (pepperoni and sausage) SO BAD! ANyway, just curious. Love you all!

Edit: I got my pizza. I ate a whole large pizza by myself, and I have another large pizza in the fridge for leftovers. I guess I fall into the "bottomless pit" category like a lot of you ladies.

I believe my period is starting and I might be spotting.
I'm due to get my period around this time but I have never actually spotted before. So basically a minimal amount of brown, fiberous consistency is coming out of me.

I am sexually active and not on the pill and haven't been on the pill for years. Condoms have been used with my boyfriend during intercourse. During any other kindof sex a condom hasn't been used.

Are there any other reasons why a person would spot at the beginning of their period?

Is it okay if my pills were stored under a lamp for a few days? Not directly seeing as though they were in a case (kind of like a credit card holder). Just wondering about effectiveness and such. Thanks!

EDIT: Not continuously stored under a lamp, but I place it there every day when I get home. Normally I only have the lamp on for 2-3 hours a night, even less than that.

My friend is pregnant, but I got this email from her today:

"The appt. last Tuesday went well. On Saturday, I started having spotting and cramps. Today (Monday), I went in and had an ultrasound. They said that they weren't sure if everything is okay or not. In the ultrasound, the gestational sac was visible, but not the baby yet. I go back again next Monday for another ultrasound to see if the baby shows up or if the sac gets bigger. So now it is a waiting game."

Thoughts? Opinions? What could this be? Is she ok? The baby? Is there a baby? Could it have been a 'false positive'? Did she miscarry?

Tomorrow I'm going to get my Mirena inserted. Just wanted to hear your experiences with Mirena in general!

Also, I know my dr said I could take Ibuprofen beforehand but I was wondering how much you recommend?
I looked back through some of the memories and saw that you all pretty much agreed that the insertion was kinda painful. My appt is at 3:15. I'm supposed to go to a friend's house for Halloween at 6:30. No heavy partying or anything - probably just watching a movie and passing out candy. do you think I'll be feeling alright? Thanks for all your help and I'll probably post this in IUD divas as well :-)

So I didn't get my period last month, no worries though I never really expect it. With PCOS Im lucky to get my period, so Im never too worried when it doesnt come for 3 months. Especially when I havent had sex, at all... because I am an emotional wreck, but thats something else entirely. ANYWAYS.

Last week maybe monday or tuesday I thought I was getting the start of my period, and for some reason it was just being really weird, and slow. Because I didn't need a tampon or pad, just when I went to the bathroom there was a slight hint of blood, and it definitely had a mucusy buildup with it, so I knew it wasn't just from my urine. This lasted about 3 days. Then nothing for a day or two. THEN yesterday and today Ive been getting "clumps" of blood. Literally just blood clots falling out of me. There is no flow AT ALL, and whenever I take my tampon out it its just a huge clot stuck to it, or when I go pee a huge clot just seems to fall into the toilet. There is no flow like I said, and Im a little worried. Is this something I should be getting checked out for. Because GOD HELP ME IF I HAVE to go to the doctors A THIRD TIME this month.
