Hi everyone.

So, my period is usually regular, but not like clockwork, so when it was a week late in June, I didn't think anything of it. But since then, I have yet to see it again. My period has been MIA since June 9th. I went to see my gyno several weeks after my missed period in July, because of the amenorrhea and I was feeling nauseated every morning (after taking two at home pregnancy tests; both negative). She said, "ok, well, I'll do a pelvic exam, just to make sure everything is OK, and then we'll have you take a pregnancy test here, and I'll prescribe you some progesterone to induce your period" So she started my exam, got distracted by a surprise yeast infection and forgot all about the pelvic exam (as did I).

She sent me on my way with the progesterone, and I went to the lab for a pregnancy test (which turned out negative). I wanted to wait on the meds and let my body ride out whatever it was going through, and she said, "ok, but don't wait much past September to start taking it" As my period still hasn't gotten here, I'm still nauseated in the mornings,  I've taken a fourth pregnancy test (still negative) and started taking the progesterone. I would go back to the gyno, so she could actually do the pelvic exam, but I don't have insurance anymore. Does anyone have any advice/experience with missed periods without pregnancy/taken progesterone? Anything is helpful.

Many thanks to anyone who got through all of that.

Hello again

Thankyou for all your comments regarding my previous questions, they've all been really helpful.

I went to see my doctor yesterday, and he wasn't there so i saw a different doctor and she was brilliant! She's told me to go to a family planning clinic rather than the surgery because they have a lot more information there. She also said that they were more experienced fitting IUDs to nulliparous women, so i would be more likely to get one there. She explained that GPs don't like fitting them to childless women because of the past problems with fertility (about 20 years ago there were questions over whether IUDs affected fertility).

She also recommended that i get a Mirena. Although i don't have any problems with periods since i got my mooncup, she explained that the hormones in the Mirena would help the IUD settle and hopefully stop any of the associated period problems with the hormone free one. She also said that the Mirena just has Progesterone in it and that it didn't work the same way as birth control pills, as in, it doesn't take over your natural hormones, it just helps to level them. Does anyone have any input into this please?

We got talking about Mooncups as well, and she's going to buy one for herself now! She said that they sound excellent and its something she would be happy to recommend to other women.

So, sorry for the long post, i just wanted to say thankyou and share the information i've got from the lovely doctor! And say thankyou to those who helped before.

This info applies to the UK.

I've heard tales of using boric acid suppositories to fight infections in your vagina in this community. Particuarly in this past post.

I've got a yeast remedy here with "Borax" listed as one of the ingredients. It's homeopathic, so it's been diluted a lot, which is fine by me.

Is "Borax" the same thing as "Boric Acid?"

My mom has told me that she's heard that if someone has a heavy period and is bleeding alot they could go in shock and have to have a hysterectomy. Has anyone actually had that happen? I know heavy bleeding can lead to anemia. I've never read of that drastic measure being taken before, but has anyone ever had to do that? I've had some heavy periods ever since I started my period, and my mother used to have it, along with her mother. It can be a very scary thing. So I'm wondering what could happen.

Also, I saw somewhere that evening primrose shouldn't be taken if you have bleeding disorders, does having heavy periods while taking it make you bleed more? I take it for breast pain/cyst.

i wasn't sure where to post this, so i posted both to vaginapagina and birthcontrol.

i finally found out what my infection was, after having it a lot for the past year. i went in to PP today and found out it was BV. i got prescribed sulfamethox and metronidazole. although my practictioner went over it VERY briefly with me, and although i have factual sheets she gave me, it still doesn't really help me.

i forgot to ask these questions, but seeing as BV is very common, i'd like to ask you guys about your personal experiences.

1) i've already had the infection for about a week (since monday). it's calmed down a lot and the itching and burning is barely noticable now so i'd like to skip the medication since the infection does go away by itself. my question is, how long is the shelf life for the medicines? in other words, i'd like to save the medication for the next reoccurance, since i'd probably need relief then, when it's full blown.

2) i'm on OTC lo, and all the factual sheets say is that condom use during the medication period is suggested. however, i'm more interested in how the medications will react with my birth control. i just want some personal testamonies i guess heh. please specify whether you were on birth control or not when you used these medications and if you felt sick or not, on a scale of 1 to 10. the reason why i'm asking is because i have work today and i really don't wanna be sick while there.

3) my practictioner was an ass and i just stopped conversation with her because i wanted to get out of there. she said i had BV with "urinary involvement", NOT an UTI. i was confused. she said "urinary involvement", but i glanced at the sheets she gave me and they were about UTI's. so, wanting to know how to recognize UTIs later on, i said,
"so i had an UTI with BV and i didn't know it?"
she gave me this stern look and said, "no, i said urinary involvement, not UTI."
that left me completely baffled, so i just let it go. anyway, what did she mean by urinary involvement? i'm just curious at this point.

anyway, thanks so much for any feedback!

Of course we all love complaining about our periods, the cramps, the depression, the worry of having an accident in your new white jeans.

And even though I have to shove tons of Naproxen down my throat, I actually enjoy having my period. I can't really explain how but it suppose it just makes me feel...womanly. Like when you shower before bed and you rub your freshly-shaved legs together and you feel womanly (Unless I'm a freak and I'm the only one that does that. Oh well. Perhaps I was a cricket in my past life).

The stuff that goes along (cramps, random crying) isn't fun, but actually having it is nice. Plus I get to play squish my tampons and play with the globs (as you may remember from my post a couple days before).

So I just wanted to ask if anyone else feels the same, and if anyone has any theories as to why.

So I got my period last night, but it is a week early. My periods have never really been regular in a sense that I can KNOW for sure when it is coming. They jump around somewhat as far as when they come (beginning, middle or end of the month). For instance, the last 2 or 3 periods have started around the 24th of each month, but this one started on the 18th. So now, for a couple months, I will expect my period around the 18th, until it jumps back and comes early again. I hope I am explaining that well enough.

My question is, why would it come early and jump around? What makes it come early? It is always early, never late. Thanks!

Condom sex works just fine and I generally have no issue from it, except that I really like bare sex as well. The problem with bare sex though is that it seems to give me an agonizingly itchy yeast infection. Of course I get the feeling that it's entirely on the man's part where this itch comes from. All it takes is a few thrusts and I'm doomed to itchy death in the near future... He doesn't even have to climax!

I've never had this problem with a circumsized fellow, but for some reason both of my uncut boyfriends gave me this issue. I think it's penis funk that is driving me up the wall. Have any of you had this problem? How did you fix it?

Hello my fellow vulva lovin' superstars!

If you follow [livejournal.com profile] contact_vp you already know (from reading this post) that I'm starting up another round of Everyday Bodies galleries.

This community has grown significantly since the first round of pictures so here's the jist of the intent of the project:

As a long time community supporter (and former member of the VP Team) I became interested in finding a way to let people who post "Is my body normal?" questions know that they are indeed "normal" and beautiful. I tried to do an online search for pictures of vulvas and was surprised by the lack of available images (that weren't porno-riffic or part of a medical text that is). So I decided to ask the lovely ladies of this community to send me pictures of their cunts. And they did.

And from there we branched out into breasts and a variety of other body parts. Even though we stopped taking picture submissions nearly two years ago I still get a few comments on the galleries and the impact that they've had from members on a weekly basis.

And I am now again asking for photo submissions.

The Rules:

  • For legal reasons (lest I and the maintainers of VP be accused of being child pornographers) I will only accept pictures from women over 18 years of age.

  • The owners of the body parts will be kept entirely anonymous unless they choose to out themselves. The posts will be friends-only.

  • To ensure that all photo contributers have a positive experience, when you comment on the pictures I ask that you refrain from singling out particular body parts for compliments (see here and here for the history and specifics on this rule.)

I'm starting with vulvas and will move on to breasts.

So if you're interested in participating, please send me your pictures. I will resize and post them as I receive them.

I look forward to seeing your photos!

Hey all –
Just curious. Does anyone else get really bad headaches the 3rd day of their period? They begin at the back of your neck and wrap around to the back of your eyes. I’m on OrthoEvra if that matters. I’m recovering from one right now.

This isn't vagina related, but it does have to do with breasts, so I figured this would still be the best place to ask.

I need a new bra, desperately, but it seems that every time I go out shopping the only ones I can find (that I like and are push up) are ones that make the area around my nipples itch. I bought one bra from La Senza awhile ago (link) and it was really comfortable until it started irritating my skin. Since then I've tried on other bra's, and I keep having the same problem...they all make the area around my nipples itch. I don't have any problem with the bras I already own, it just seems to be a new thing. I tend to wear push up bras because I'm rather small, but it seems like they're all made out of microfiber (got that off the La Senza website). I have a bra right now that I would say is made out of microfiber, and it doesn't bother me.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is there any reason you can think of that would cause this itchiness? Any way I can fix it? Any particular place I should shop? (I live in Canada) Any material I should be looking for?

I do get hair around my nipples though, and I shave that off, would that factor in at all?

Any answers are appreciated. Thanks!

Lately almost every time i have finger intercourse i feel like i'm being scratched inside or it feels like i've been scratched after. The thing is, ya sometimes i get scratched, but usually i don't think i'm actually getting scratched, i think it just feels that way. I don't understand why. Maybe there is a scratch that won't heal? Has anyone ever had this happen?

Also i randomly bled a little a few days ago. And it was weird cause my vagina felt fine until i noticed it was bleeding a little. Then it felt like the outside was scratched, but i know the blood was coming from the inside.

I should get a physical, but it may take awhile to get in. Any thoughts/suggestions in the meantime?

So I go for months without a period. Just went for almost a year without one. Yipee! Right? Wrong. Cause the opposite is happening now. Heavy period going for weeks. I go between bleeding heavily and lightly and never know how much from day to day. This pattern has been going on for years, and I know I can take meds to regulate my period, I just don't like having to go to the doctor time and again for refills on the meds and quite frankly I like going months on end without a period.

Okay, so my question is this: This happens (the doctor says) because of my weight. (I am very heavy) Is there any way other than medicine to stop my period? I don't want to go into the doctor, and be put on monthly 10 days worth of meds that jump start my period. I have a hard (impossible) time remembering to take it. Then of course there is that whole monthly having to deal with my period. Hate that time of the month, rather have no period at all.

Second question: Any reason why I should be having a regular period?

Hmmm,
Does anyone know what the chance is of getting pregnant if you have sex with a condom but no birth control or anthing else.  Like the chance of a condom breaking, or haveing a non noticeable defect in it (a small hole).   I was just wondering this in general.  If anyone's read or heard about percentages of getting pregnant and stuff, leave a comment pweez.  =P

I've heard of condoms breaking, but has anyone ever heard of them coming defective with a tiny hole in it or something that you just don't notice?  I'm not scared i'm preggers or anything right now.. I was just wondering statistics of stuff.  haha. k..
