This is not directly vagina-related, but I'm sure some of you ladies could help.

I'm interested in volunteering at my local Planned Parenthood. Does anyone know if they have volunteer workers, doing anything? I'm only 16, and I don't really volunteer much, so I don't know quite how it works. :P But it would definitely interest me, if possible.

Thanks for any information you might have!

I don't usually promote other communities, but I thought that VP might be a place to share this information. My good friend has 3 children, and the oldest will be 10 in April. She has searched for an online support group for parents of pre-teens, and not finding much luck, decided to make an LJ community. So, if you find you are a parent with a pre-teen (aged 9-12), and would like a space to chat with other parents, please consider joining her new community [livejournal.com profile] preteen_parents.

If the mods feel this is not appropriate, I am sorry...feel free to delete this.

I was really nervous for my second trip to the OB-GYN, but the woman was so nice. It as my first pap smear (since the time before I wasn't "opened" enough to get a speculum in)so I was nervous, but it totally didn't hurt. In the end, the OB-GYN said I had a really great cervix (easy to find and access) and that I should be proud.

I truly am.

I don't know how many of you ladies (and gents) are Bay Area residents, but recently at Cinequest, the San Jose Film Festival, they showed a movie entitled "The O Tapes"

While I didn't get a chance to see it myself, their website has a bunch of fantastic video clips that I thought would be appropriate here.

sooo many questions! But maybe not all of them right now.. Ok
so, i know that ECP has progestrone and estrogen, and is basically JUST like regular combination birth control.. But, last night i had sex and used the pull out method, and now i'm a little concerned... I can't go to Planned parenthood, cause i'm at college without a car, and i've been trying to get there for a pap and STI screening since NOVEMBER, and i'm SOOO pissed that no one else thinks it's worth their time to lend me a ride in accordance with theirs, mine and the DRs schedule.. :( :( :( :( :( I feel horrible asking, and even worse when i'm refused.. I'm getting close to asking a guy friend who "likes me" but i don't like him.. so i feel like i'd be using him, but i don't know what else to do at this point..
The thing is, i have left over POPs from last summer, and i was wonddering if that would be better than nothing????????

Next, i HATE depo.... :-\ i thought i liked it, but i WANT the pill!! cause i already have wicked bad facial hair, and progestrone makes it worse, and estrogen would make it better.. BUT i get migraine w/aura once every TWO YEARS. Which means no pill for me...
I was wondering if this was just a really anal precaution of doctors not to let me take the pill? Or if there is anything i can do to fix this situation..
Thanks for still reading this!!

OK, I want to get a Mirena IUD put in. My gyno OK'd it even though I'm childless and 20 years old. I'm visiting my long distance boyfriend this Friday and want to be infertile when I see him. However, my doctor wanted me to wait till I was on my period. I have an abnormally long menstrual cycle (it's been 36 days since my last period began). I think that within the next two to three days my period ought to come. Is there any harm done in taking high doses of vitamin C to induce my period earlier just to make sure it comes? I'm just nervous that it'll take a REALLY long time and I won't be able to have the IUD put in.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

EDIT
I feel pretty sure that I've ovulated because my cervical fluid was going crazy a couple of weeks ago. I know that doesn't guarantee ovulation, but this last month the fluid was TRULY impressive if I weren't ovulation. I've never missed a period.

Hey everyone! Its been awhile since I have posted (which I suppose is a good thing ;-) ) but I noticed something recently that has me perplexed. Yesterday my fiance and I were fooling around when he noticed a little bump on my inner labia. It hurts a tiny bit when you touch it, kinda itchy (very slightly, but it does) and it feels like a pimple. He was a little worried, and was debating not telling me because he new that I can get really paranoid, but he told me anyway because he knew it was the best thing. He and I went onto google and tried to see if we could get an idea of what it could be, which calmed my nerves a bit, but I was just wondering if anybody has experienced this. My fiance is the only one I have had sex with, and he doesn't have an std's.

I figured I'd watch it for a few days and if it doesn't get better or go away, I'll go see a doctor.

Thanx guys!

Tampons

[identity profile] shhstupid.livejournal.com
I cannot use tampons. At all. I am not a virgin, but I had some serious pain issues with sex at first. I can get about half of the smallest tampon in, and it stings and I just can't get it any further. I don't think I'm just "doing it wrong", but I'm scared of just forcefully pushing it in too hard too. Should I see a gynaecologist? I'm especially worried seeing as it stings.

I know people have posted on this many times, so its a little repetitive. But I have some anger I need to vent. I make the mistake of being a girl friend to many tool-ish guy friends at school, who all discuss how they feel about girls in front of me. And several times over the past year I've heard girls described as being ugly or gross for having, ahem, 'meat curtains'. !!! I DO NOT GET THIS!
Girls don't sit around going 'well, we were about to have sex when i realized his penis was really ugly.. gross.. that totally detracts from him as a person and turns me off."
I just find it completely ridiculous, but at the same time.. I am SUPER scared. I have never done 'anything' with anyone and now I'm all panicky because I've pretty much been affirmed and reaffirmed that the vagina i was BORN with is ugly. who knew? yes, I do have rather large inner labia but up until now i always thought that if a guy got a girl into bed, naked, and willing, he should be pretty happy about it. how am i supposed to get over this fear? it seems like all guys are going to HATE my vag!

Sponge

Ok, so I'm comparing different BC methods again and just noticed this on the information for the sponge...

"If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away."

I just found that really funny.

I read a post over at [livejournal.com profile] tmi_chix, where someone posted a link about how birth control pills could increase your chances of getting a dry socket after wisdom tooth surgery. I'm really concerned about this since I have surgery scheduled in a little less than a month. I'm asking these questions here as well, since this question is more what this place is about. Have any of you ever heard about this problem?

The site suggested that you schedule your surgery near the end of your cycle when your estrogen levels are low. It looks like my surgery is scheduled for right when I start to take the highest estrogen dosage (35 mcg ethinyl estradiol). Do you think I should just go off of them for a month (because frankly between the antibiotics I'm on now for a tooth infection and the ones I'll most likely need after the surgery, what's the point of the pill)? Should I reschedule surgery? Am I completely overreacting?

So, I'm sitting here at school - la la la - and I'm struck with this insane pain in my right ovary. It feels like a cross between a knife stab and a dull ache. On a pain scale of 0 being no pain and 10 being the worst pain imaginable, I would say that this is a 6. The pain has neither increased or decreased in 30 minutes. It's day 2 of my period and so far I haven't had any other issues like cramping or abnormal discharge...so what's up with this? Is my ovary exploding? Is it just a freaky menstrual thing?

Chlamydia!

Mar. 12th, 2006 07:35 pm
[identity profile] greedy.livejournal.com
So,

Hey,

Anyone remember when I was oh so excited when I was able to use the Monistat applicator all by myself?

Well, turns out I didn't need it.

It wasn't a yeast infection I was sportin'.

It was chlamydia!

Long story short, my boyfriend get a phone call from his ex-girlfriend saying she tested positive and he should get tested. He got tested back in the summer after he found out she had cheated on him and everything came back negative and he hadn't had any partners since. So, he thought he was std-free. (and I trust him with all my heart, and I know he wouldnt' lie to me)

Apparently, says the AMAZING doctor I dealt with today, a test can come back negative, but he/she can still have the STD.

What's the point of the test then? I say. Argh...

Anyway, the first point of this message is a just a friendly reminder to everyone.

Number two, the doctor gave me (for free, no less) one big white pill and four little pink pills and told me to take them all at once. I didn't really ask what this was. I know it's an antibiotic but...

Does anyone know what this was?

And question number 2, how long does it take for the symptoms to go away?

Even though it's tainted at the moment, I still love my vagina. Through sickness and in health.

this might be a dumb question, but i know you all are very nice.
i had sex a little less than a week ago, protected.
no cum got inside me, he confirmed that also...
i just want to know if i can be confident that i am not pregnant?
It is about another week or so before I should be getting my period i think...

also, it seems like when I get excited, my vagina secrets an excess amount of fluid...and he comments saying how 'wet' i am...and i don't know if that is a compliment or a 'what's wrong with you' type of statement, but i don't want to ask him.

any suggestions?

Haven't posted here in a while so *waves*

I'm in a gray area...Since last Saturday I have been taking medication for a kidney infection which I took right up until Friday which completed my course of antibiotics. Now i'm on the pill (Yasmin) and the doc said it may intereact with my BC which I said I understood yadda yadda, and he said I would be clear to use HBC until after my next period which I also understood. Now I took the last pill in my pack last night, and me and my boyfriend had sex in the early hours of this morning, which a condom of course because of what the doctor said.

Long story short the condom split from the goddam tip to near the base as my bf was cumming which is my sticky situation, excuse the pun.

Now usually I take my last pill on sat, period comes around tuesday, and my boobs are hurting like the do at the end of my pills every month...But I really don't know what to do, whether to wait and see? Or whether to get some EC just to be on the safe side?

Sucks i'm getting punished for being safe! Grrr :|

Any help would be great guys, or any similar experiences?

EDIT: Well I went to the doc and they told me to get EC anyway just to be on the safe side, so I got it this morning and have taken it, so hope I don't get sick!

Thanks for the responses

I've been taking Desogen for 15 months now. I had the first two weeks of a pack left and decided that I wouldn't even bother and stopped taking the placebo pills during my period. I got the pill from Planned Parenthood and didn't have any side effects until after the "trial three months" when I had a year's supply.

The pill has made me absolutely insane. My boyfriend of 2.5 years told me that I've become a completely different person on the pill (and it feels like I have). Now that I have ran out of pills, quitting is definitely a welcome solution. I have terrible mood swings and random spans of depression that has really put a kink in my relationship. I've been off of the pills for two weeks now (the placebo week during my period and the week following), when can I expect the mood swings to cease? I'm feeling a lot better already, but they're still there some.

Next question: I would very much like not to resort back to condoms. Are there any ladies out there who have switched HBC because of mood swings and found something that works well? As mentioned before, I really couldn't tell until after PP's trial period, so I'm not sure if I want to go back to another pill and waste their resources. Has the NuvaRing worked well with anyone who had a similar experience with the pill?

Thanks!!

So I'm wondering what the options are for birth control when you've got high blood pressure...

I tried to get pills from planned parenthood but they wouldn't give them because my blood pressure was high. Plus, I seem to be fairly un-reliable with pill taking.

Any suggestions?? Thanks.

hello.
i was wondering, i'm not showing any symptoms of any sti/stds... but i just want to get checked just incase. do you think that's silly??? also, does anyone know if pp charges for this sort of thing? if so, what? i have a gyno but i'd rather not have to tell my mom "look, i've just been having more sex with more partners" if i don't have to & she pays the pill as i am 20 & in college, thus sees what was done at the gyno. so yes, any answers (even if not sure) is appreciated!
oh, i live in albany new york & my pp is upper hudson, if that helps any.
gracias!
