Sorry if this has been asked, I browsed the archives and such but I didn't find anything addressing my specific question.

Tonight I noticed I'm particularly itchy around my vulva/labia. After feeling like this for a few hours I took a look (god bless full length mirrors). My vag pretty much looks normal except for my inner labia (which I can't really see unless I pull them apart) are bright red, I assume in part from my itching.

I've never had a yeast infection so I was thinking maybe this is my first, but the thing is I haven't had any discharge whatsoever. Zip, nada, zilch--less, even, than is normal for me. It's abnormally dry down there. Any advice?

ETA: My smell doesn't seem to be anything different either, just in case that narrows it down. Also I recently had unprotected sex with a new partner. I'm pretty sure this isn't an STD, as I was tested after our first encounter and came up negative, but still ...
ETA again...: About a week ago I switched from BCP to the NuvaRing. I can't get the ring to stay in longer than a few days, and every once in awhile when I pee I'll find it sticking out. Could that be irritating me?

i start my first pack of BC pills on sunday. i'm taking Errin... has anyone else in here taken it? if so, how did it effect you? my mom practically had a religious fit over it because it's "birth control" whereas i'm using it to regulate my periods. that woman drives me insane sometimes. after she talked to my doctor, she calmed down a bit. anyways, i would very much appreciate any info on Errin. Thanks!

Okay, I am on my forth month of POPs. I do not get my period....I get random spotting. I spotted this afternoon. Tonight I took my pill about a half hour late. I had sex a few minutes ago and the condom broke. We are not sure if it broke inside me or not.

Should I be concerned? Should I be taking any precautions?

I read somewhere [though not a very reliable source, lol] that putting a few drops of vinegar into the bath water and soaking in it makes your vagina tighter. I'm not loose or anything but I'm curious about it!

Anyone know it its true?
If it is, then how and why does vinegar make you tighter?
Would there be any kind of harm that could come from doing this? ie. could the vinegar give you a yeast infection or anything bad?

Hello all. So here's my question. A few years ago, I lost about 30 pounds. I felt like it came off at a rather steady pace. At the time, I was not on birth control. Well, unfortunately, over the past few years, I have put all the weight back on. Mid-June, I started dieting and I've lost 16 pounds thus far. I am eating SO much less than I ever have and I go to the gym almost everyday. Here's the thing, though - I feel like it is coming off SO slowly - and some weeks I lose no weight, which makes me crazy considering how little I am eating and how much I am working out. The only thing that is different from a few years ago when I lost the weight is that I'm taking Ortho-Tri-Cyclen-Lo, which I have been on for a year and a half.

Has anyone else struggled with weight loss while taking the aforementioned pill? I'm thinking of finishing up this pack and then calling my gyno and asking her if I can just go off BC altogether. I am not on it for any particular reason anymore, kind of a 'just in case I get crazy' kind of thing. :)

Any advice would be much appreciated!

I had unprotected sex about 2 weeks ago. I tried to skip my period but I got breakthrough bleeding instead. About 2 or 3 days after I got the breakthrough bleeding my vagina started to itch and I noticed a funny smell this morning after I showered.
Are the itching and smell signs of a STD?

I read on another website that oral sex and PIV sex can burn MAJOR calories. Does anyone know an accurate guess of the calorie burn or a trustworthy place I could find this information?

hey everyone!
I have a somewhat embarrassing question that maybe you guys can help me out with...

well, last night me and my boyfriend (I'm 16, he's 17) were making out and he started fingering me. This is the first time he's ever fingered anyone, but it's not the first time I've been fingered.
Anyways, when I called him today he said he could still smell it on his hand...

I was really embarrassed, and as far as I know it's never happened before (unless my past boyfriend just never said anything). My past boyfriend did it all the time, and seemed to enjoy it. But I think this incident has turned my current boyfriend off to this completely.

Is this normal? If it is, what's something to get rid of the smell?

thanks if you can help

What is this?
VP is initiating a new kind of FAQ called the Top 20 that will contain comprehensive answers to the questions that are most commonly asked in the community. We're kicking things off with an oldie but goodie: yeast. We will link this post from our side bar as well as the Archives (under "READ THIS BEFORE YOU POST ABOUT YEAST INFECTIONS") for ease of use.

NOTE: We already delete many YI posts, but this guide means that even more YI posts are going to be deleted in the future. One of our most common complaints is that YI posts are cloging up Friends Pages. Before you post about (what you think might be) a YI, please read this guide carefully. Chances are, you'll find all the answers you need. We hope this becomes a valuable resource for everyone.

Your comments are welcome, of course. And hey, if this is the first time you're seeing this item, be sure to scroll all the way down to the bottom to read member comments/tips.

Let's begin, shall we?

Yeast Infection Connection
I think I have a Yeast Infection--how can I tell? And what are some remedies that don't involve Monistat or going to the doctor? What can I do to prevent YIs in the future?

This Top 20 Question covers the following items:
+ What is a yeast infection and how do you get one?
+ How do you know if you've got one? What are the symptoms?
+ OK, I’ve got a yeast infection. How do I treat it?
+ Can men get yeast infections too?
+ It seems like I always have a yeast infection—what’s the deal?!
+ How do I prevent YIs in the future?
+ Is it OK to have sex while I'm treating my yeast infection?
+ Can I treat my infection while I'm on my period?

Due to a TON of stress, my period came five days early. I've been bleeding since Tuesday, off an on, heavy at times, but still...not fun. I'm on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, do you think I could start taking the active pills in the next pack, since my body thinks it's had a period already this week? I don't know if I want to be bleeding next week as well...

You guys have hairy breasts too? It wasn't until maybe a year ago that I suddenly grew hair on my belly and breasts. I thought it was gross. I still do, actually, especially now that the hair appears to be darker than before. I feel self-conscious when I wear something that reveals chest and/or my belly. Before I used to secretly take pride in being barely hairy, but now it's different.

Do any of you remove the hair on your breasts and belly?

hi everybody..

i ve ended a 3 month relationship a while ago. and i have had regular sex with my exboyfriend and from what how i experienced it he (michael)always enjoyed it a lot and even said that he did enjoy it very much while we were together.
however i do have a problem and have always had it: i cannot reach orgasm simply from intercourse. so i used to always use a vibrator and the boyfriend i had before michael used to enjoy it as well when he was inside of me and i used the vibrator on myself (externally) at the same time.

however with michael i didnt get to the stage where i felt comfortable using my vibrator and once i wanted finally to use it we broke up. so i never reached orgasm with him and back then i didnt feel like it was a big problem for neither him nore myself. i for my part, enjoyed sleeping with him nevertheless, despite i missed coming myself, but in general it is not all that important to me. and i knew with time i would reach a stage where i could either use my vibrator comfortably or come without help.

well. then we broke up 3 month ago. a few days ago he told me that it is horrible that i never came and that any man would always wonder if it was his fault. he said that nomatter what i tell the person i have sex with, they would always feel in a way it was their fault. and michael said, no-one should ever need a "helper" (my vibrator) to come.
i was really shocked by this as he never complained or talked about this with me when we were still together.

is it really aweful ( he used that word) for any man if the woman needs a vibrator to come ?
till now i believed that many women do have the same problem and need external stimulation to reach orgasm....
am i wrong ? please give me your ideas on this...
i feel really shitty ever since he told me these things.

thank you !

I am showing some signs of having BV again (boo!) and I'm kind of freaking out/worrying myself to death.

I have kind of a greyish discharge that looks like it could have some blood in it. I'm kinda worried. I can't get into a doctor until Monday, unfortunately, so I'm kinda stuck dealing with it until then. Although, who knows if they'll even do anything, considering last time I went to the doctor with BV symptoms, they told me they usually only treat women for BV if they're pregnant...

I don't know what to do...

This wouldn't bother me so much if, like I said, it didn't look like there was a bit of blood mixed into the discharge...

I only started to get a heavier, ickier discharge today. But yesterday it seemed to be like normal BV symptoms...

Help?!

(note: I am currently on my second month of OTC-Lo. I took Alesse for 6 months prior to switching. My doctor and I decided to try switching because of the YI's I seemed to always be getting. Also, I've been using Acidophilus vaginally to help ward of Yeasties whenever I feel them coming on... so I started doing it for this BV... maybe I shouldn't have? Maybe that made it worse?)

I recently started having sex- all is well (it feels weird not having a hymen!) but I have one small problem.

During penetration, I find that my boyfriend cannot go more than about 4-4 1/2 inches into me without it starting to hurt deep inside me. Now, I know this is not my cervix he's hitting. During pap smears I always felt them swab me much further back than where it hurts now. It dosen't feel like he's "hitting the end of the tunnel", it just hurts like I don't want him to go any further. Could it just be the wrong angle? Should he keep on pushing, even though it hurts? Perhaps that area of the vagina hurts more to stretch. I don't know. ;)

BTW, we were using lube, and I'm naturally pretty good in that area- that was certainly not the issue. There was lots of foreplay so I'm sure my vaginal canal had sufficient time to elongate, etc.. so I'm stumped.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you, VagPag!

EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm pretty sure it's his length that is the issue and not his thickness. I can fit his thickness easily, but he can only get half his penis in me, and I'm fairly sure that's not normal. :(
