For no other reasons than curiosity and laziness, I attempted going pantiless this evening, just for a few hours. As I removed my shorts (denim), I noticed a wet spot, somewhat larger than a tablespoon, somewhat smaller than my fist. I checked; the spot was also visible from the outside, though it may not have been while my clothes were on me.

To those of you ladies who regularly go commando: how do you do it?

Well... it looks like it's time for me to stop lurking around here.
My big problem right now is that my period is at least 2 weeks late... I have a quite irregular cycle normally, but it usually doesn't go any longer than 50 days. My last one started May 22, so assuming that my cycle took on it's maximum length... argh. It's damn late. I was sexually active around that time, but on June 3 my BF went away for the summer (and I broke up with him not that long after). We always used condoms, and to the best of our knowledge, they always worked properly, so I really don't think I'm pregnant. I'm kinda scared to take a test though.
So... my question is... What other reasons could there be for missing a period, or having that long between them? For the record, I'm 21 and in good health otherwise.
[identity profile] kragey.livejournal.com
Am I horrible for being so anti-douche? Because my sister just picked up a douching kit, and she won't listen to me when I say it's bad for her. She thinks it's okay just because the douche is "unscented". UGH, that's so disgusting. Why can't she just used baby wipes if she hates her scent that much?!

Sorry, I wanted to share the anger with somebody.

Would any of you be so kind as to share your experience with the morning after pill with me?

what's that natural pregnancy test where you pee in a cup with (SOMETHING) in it and wait to see if (SOMETHING) floats or sinks?

does anyone know what i'm talking about?

help?

I checked the memories about coming off the pill and how it will affect your body, but they focused more on hormonal issues and mood swings. I'm more concerned about how it will affect my cycle when I quit the Nuvaring. Now that long-term/permanent contraception is actually within my reach, I'm happy to know that I'll be off hormonal birth control, potentially within the year.

Behind the cut is a little history of my experiences with and reactions to different forms of BC and the hormone levels in them, as well as a description of my periods prior to starting BC, if that helps you to make any conclusions when it comes to answering my questions.

Is there any way to increase the size of your clitoris? I'm not about to resort to pumping, and I doubt I'd be able to do it anyway. My clit is invisible-status size, barely visible in a mirror, and I'd really like it to be at least touchable on its own without a lot of uncomfortable yanking and rearranging of my small, tightly-placed hood and inner labia. From what my piercer said when I had my hood done, I'm pretty much tiny in general down there...is there any hope?
[identity profile] riseupsinging.livejournal.com
everybody wish me luck. it's 6am, i haven't slept yet tonight. finally i snuck out of my mom's house, rode my old bike to the drugstore, and picked up a first response. i'm not late yet, but i think i'm going to be...

i also bought condoms while i was there. i always use them (or the pill) anyhow, but somehow i felt more responsible by buying condoms. which, if there are 2 pink lines, i won't need.

here goes everything.

//EDIT/UPDATE//: although my hopes and dreams of getting pregnant at 16 and giving up my schooling to stay home and have my nipples chewed off by a screaming wiggling child have been shattered... i'm still happy i'm NOT pregnant.

thanks to the vag-pags who were awake at the ungodly hours of my last 2 posts, the first being "sooo... natural pregnancy tests..." the second being "alright i bought the drugstore kind SEND GOOD VIBES" and the third (the update), "thanks for the good vibes."

this community is so amazing. and i will be using those condoms. (for the record, the story is: when i first started having sex, we used condoms but didn't have sex the day i ovulated. then i went on BC and we didn't use condoms at all. then we broke up and i went off BC and we had sex ONCE with a condom ON THE DAY I OVULATED and i was freaked out.)

NOW I'M GOING TO BED!!

♥use condoms and boric acid,

has anybody had any issues with the effectiveness of their bc because they've been on Diflucan? it's for this weird rash i have, not for a yeastie but it just occured to me that it might decrease the effectiveness of my Nuvaring.

also, i put my Nuvaring in for the first time yesterday and used my Divacup. i felt like a Thanksgiving turkey that had been filled with stuffing and somebody jammed the baster and left it up there too. i feel so... full... it's a bit uncomfortable, like trying to stick a whole house worths of furniture into a studio apartment. that was just a side note, sorry :)

Sorry, gals! I know you get this all the time, but I checked in the archives and didn't find the answer to my question. If it is there, please point me in the right direction and this post can be deleted.
I just figured out that at the time my SO and I are thinking of getting married, I'll be on my period. Unfortunately, it's really the only time we can do it, so we don't want to change it. So, the next best thing would be to change when I get my period. Since I'm on OTC-lo, I know it's a little sketchy to skip a period with any sort of success. So, I'm wondering if this month (six months before the wedding date) I skip my placebo week and just continue with active pills, will I successfully move my period up a week? Would I be doing myself any harm by doing that? I'm assuming it's fine, since people skip periods this way all the time and there are pills like seasonale out there that do this same thing, but I just want to be sure. Thanks in advance for any info/opinions!

I love my gynecologist. He’s been my PCP since I was about 12 or so and he’s just great. Very comforting and helpful.
My only problem is that he doesn’t know much about the Nuvaring. When I asked if I could switch to it from Yasmin, he said he doesn’t do the Nuvaring but he’d find a partner who did. Then he left the room for a few minutes and came in laughing. He said “oh, I thought you had to be fitted for it, like a cervical cap! Well I’ve learned something today…” Obviously he doesn’t know much about the Nuvaring at all and I need to get some advice on it and I don’t feel like talking to him would do any good.
Also…
I was putting up my Nuvaring stickers on my calendar and I realized that I will be on my ring-free week on the same day that I leave for my trip to Boston/ME with my boyfriend. It’s our first trip together and its going to be ruined by my bloody period (plus we live in Seattle so that’s quite the distance for us and I've never been to Boston or Maine so yay!). So I’m interested in skipping my period that month. It’ll only be my second ring cycle and I am so worried about screwing up my body and spotting all throughout our vacation and then have another month of HELL while my body tries to readjust. I like my period but I am not going to be happy climbing up Bunker Hill and traipsing through Salem or WHITE WATER RAFTING while I’m worrying about my Divacup and feeling crampy.
Its because of this whole wanting to skip the period thing that I really want a gyno I can talk with. But even if I talk to him, I don’t think he’ll know anything comforting or informative he can tell me.

So if you have any thoughts on what I should do about either my gyno or my near-ruined Boston trip, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks vagpag peeps, you’re always so wonderful…

okay me and my boyfriend have been masturbing each other for about a month now. Before him I wasn't a virgin. Everytime he sticks two fingers in me for the first time I bleed, At first it was alot of blood it was like a period and than every other time it was a little. The thing is everytime he sticks two fingers in me it doesn't hurt. What I want to know is...why am I bleeding? and from where in my inside? and why doesn't it hurt? thank you everyone for any response in advance :-)
[identity profile] msmarlamae.livejournal.com
So I got my period on Saturday night, of course.. whatever. I usualy spend 2-3 days kinda spotting maybe thinking about it before i really bleed. (I don't have a regular cycle, never have can go months without having one without any adverse affect. I've been checked by a doctor and there is nothing wrong with me, just irregular.) Anyway, I have been nonstop downpour since I started. Like scary amounts..I usually use regular tampons, cause they just feel better, but I'm going through a super in about an hour when I'm vertical, and still bleeding through the emergency pad. I thought that maybe it was just cause I was outside doing some physical work (not much really) at the folks.

Anyway last night in bed I had to get up 3 times, and even so I bled through the super and had blood dripping down my legs as I waddled to the bathroom trying not to make a mess. i knew ew. But still, scary. I slept on a towel so there was no mess in the sheets, but truly i've never bled this much and I'm a little freaked. I know I know, I could go to the doctor, but what if its just a heavy period? I'm having really bad cramps which is unusal for me, but not enough for me to KNOW something is wrong. There is some clotting, but i haven't noticed anything scary huge. Am I just over reacting you think?

I've been a member here for three days, it's taken me that long just to read all the posts!! I was hoping to find some answers to the problem i'm having, but I think I may be a loner here...

Starting aroud May 10th-ish, I started bleeding very lightly... one tampon per day would do it. I just thought I was going to start my period. I was thinking GREAT lets get this over before vacation.. well the "regular" period didn't come, and it kept bleeding that way consistently until about 2 and a half weeks ago when I was at work and I got a sudden SURGE of blood that required me to go home to change.. but right after that I was back to normal, just that one minute of bleeding hard, and then back to light. The bleeding was light enough that I was able to continue having sex on a regular basis, but I was getting worried, so Friday July 22nd I went to my local Planned Parenthood because I know they work on a sliding scale. I'm not sure what they did for me, they gave me STD tests, which I alrealdy know I don't have any because I've been with the same person for the past three years and I had tests done 2 years ago... ANYWAYS... She ordered a couple labs so I had to go somewhere to get those done, and she wants to see me again in two weeks (which is this Friday). One test was to check my Thyroid level and the other two were hormone levels. Then, ironically... two days later I started bleeding really really hard, the kind of bleeding that restricted me to my bathtub and my couch layered with 3 towels... I was passing clots bigger than I thought possible, they hurt so bad when they were coming out, and i'm not usually a big baby, but ouch!! Although it felt like forever, this only lasted less than two days, and then i was back to lightly bleeding for one more day, and NOW.. after three months... I am 100% blood free, exciting, but I still have to deal with this Planned Parenthood thing.

Should I bother going to follow up? Should I find a regular doctor? (I don't have one), the nurse practicioner herself told me that there isn't much she can do for me at Planned Parenthood, so why would she schedule a follow up? I would be interested on starting BC, as I am totally clueless to what kind.. I am severely overweight and cannot afford to gain anymore. Has anyone else had a problem with their thyroid? I had a friend in highschool who had surgery on hers, and then she gained 100 lbs. I've also heard that if there is something wrong with it, it may actually prevent you from losing weight.. and I would be all about that.

Any thoughts? Advice? I am open to anything.

Thank you!

I have no where else to turn but to you lovely ladies. I'm 16 and my periods been regular since i got it about 5 years ago.

well ive said before that my period has been majorly f'ed up. heres the thing. i started having sex regularly in june. June my period came a week early. no biggie to me. then it came at its regular time in July. It ended the 5th and started again on the 21st. then it ended around the 25th and started again today. My friend thinks it may be from rough sex but its not just spotting its full on bleeding. my mom has a dr appt for me on the 11th. im freaking out because its been regular for so long and i know its not from stress cuz I have been 100x more stressed, I'm barely stressed right now. True last night i wanted it really rough so i had some rough touching and sex. my period usually comes between the last day of the month to the 5th so I mean its not like its completely messed up that i got it today but just the fact that ive been bleeding 3 out of the 4 weeks this month.

I guess my question to you girls is, could this all be from having sex, making it THIS irregular. I mean this isn't my first partner at all, but its my first one of having sex regularly. Or could it be from rough sex to make me bleed full blown for days?

Please help I'm freaking out.

I have a dr appt for the 11th. my first visit EVER. I hate that it had to be made due to this.

cramps

[identity profile] aliaswho.livejournal.com
I'm sitting here with a box of Advil Flu & Body Ache wondering how it might help with cramps. It's the only thing in the house and I don't have a means of getting to a store to pick up some Midol, my usual remedy. This claims to be a pain reliever/fever reducer, and also a nasal decongestant. I am at the start of my placebo week for the Pill, have a cold that is slowly going away (I'm thinking nasal decongestant could be a plus), and am taking Nitrofurantoin for a UTI. The Drug Interaction Checker from www.drugstore.com reports no interactions, but if anyone has a word against this, please speak up.

These are weird cramps. They aren't consistent, only last about 5 minutes at a time, and aren't horrible but I don't see myself being able to do much but sit around until I get my hands on some Midol if this doesn't work. I've never taken Advil for cramps so I'm wondering if I have a chance here. Thanksss everyone.

Edit:

I took it, it hasn't worked, but it's OK. Midol is the only thing I have found to work, ever, but these cramps are not bad AT ALL. A lot of the time I am balled up and crying waiting for the effects to take charge, but I can dance around and stuff with these ones. Oh well, at least I tried. Thanks for commenting, all.

Last Wednesday I went to the gynecologist for the first time and she did a pap smear. I've never had cramps before in my life because I've never had a normal period. Anyway, I'm having cramps now, but still no period. Is is normal to have cramps like this? My mom says she's never had them after seeing the gynecologist.

Hi gals.

I'm posting for a friend.

She told me that she had sex last tuesday and she became late for her period. I was sure it was just due to stress since the same thing has happened to plenty of my friends. She was 6 days late until she got it but now she's parinoid because I guess she heard somewhere that you can be pregnant and you can get something that looks like your period but isn't. But I've also heard that this is really rare.

I would think that whatever that is wouldnt be identical to your period, and probably at least minorly different.

She'd also like to know how long that usually lasts if it were the case.

thankyou!

This morning I was about to prepare my amipregnant post until I got distracted with bad_sex entries (I'm sooo not a livejournal junkie or anything). I was going to hold off on posting anything anyway, to give myself another day for my period to come (I'm on day 2 of placebos). But then there was... cramping?! And now... my period came! I actually smiled and kind of laughed when I saw the blood. I had been a little worried because I had unprotected sex when my BCP's efficacy was supposed to be lessened. I made a post probably in birthcontrol a while back trying to determine how antibiotics effect BC, and very luckily it happened to be just the right amount effective for me. I wanted to share the news with someone that Hooray! I'm Not Pregnant!!! and thought this would be a nice place to do so. I'm not looking for a lecture in being responsible; this incident has not shown me, "Hey, I can have unprotected sex on antibiotics ALL the time, cuz hay, it worked!" Instead, it has shown me how damn risky we were being and that I don't want to worry about this again; I'm investing in more condoms, as I am still on antibiotics; I'm just kinda gloating in my luck right now. I apologize if anyone has experienced unwanted pregnancy within similar circumstances, believe me I was working up some scary thoughts before a few minutes ago, but I had to tell someone! This community, as well as others, has seen me update more than several times and have always been very, very helpful, and I wanted to share what is good news to me with you. I'm just glad I'm not posting in amipregnant.

Hi Ladies.
I refer you to this article I stumbled across this morning.
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,16109412-2,00.html

The WHO's leading cancer research body - the International Agency for Research on Cancer - has changed its classification for combined oestrogen-progestogen oral contraceptives and combined oestrogen-progestogen HRT drugs from "possibly carcinogenic to humans" to "carcinogenic to humans".
The decision puts the widely used compounds in the same category as the cancer-causing agents asbestos and tobacco

I'm a big fan of the pill, I've been on Levlen ED or approx 7 years with no health problems whatsoever. Also I like the fact that my periods are regulated and can be controlled. However this article is making me re-think.

What are your thoughts?
What would be a healthier subsitute to the pill?

Thrush

[identity profile] hammer-reality.livejournal.com
Errr...I have thrush. I've had it not long ago, used 3 day treatment, thought it went away. But then I started taking antibiotic again (Minomycin for acne) and I will be on it for a few months, ze thrush came back! Now, how do I get rid of it? Should I buy the 3 day treatment and eat lots of yoghurt (which I despise, but I'll tolerate if it prevents yeasties) or do I not bother? Constant antibiotic, so is there even a chance to get rid of the yeast while on it?
[identity profile] katyism.livejournal.com
I've had a UTI before, but this seems a little different. The symptoms have been going on a while, at least a couple of months that I've noticed. I don't drink very healthy... unfortunately most of the liquids I drink are diet coke and beer. Anyway.

I am 24. Lately I've noticed that urinating seems to be a lot of trouble. Given the amount of coke I drink in an average workday, I have to pee pretty badly every couple of hours. It used to be that when I had to pee, I would just go, my body would push all the pee out at top speed, and I'd be done in a few seconds no matter how full my bladder was. Now, it's different. When I have to pee, I go, my body pushes it out at top speed, and then the urethra muscle or whatever controls it seems to get tired and it hurts to maintain that much *effort* to get all the pee gone. I end up having to relax the pee muscle and let the rest of the pee trickle out. Or I can sometimes alternate using the pee muscle and relaxing it. If I try to force the pee mechanism to keep pumping, it protests in a non-painful, but kind of stressed out way. It's hard to explain since I don't know what exactly is giving out mid-pee. But ultimately this means i'm sitting there on the toilet WAITING for my body to release the urine that is straining my bladder, rather than it being a quick bathroom visit. The reason I think something is wrong is that normally that muscle would give up at the appropriate time - when I'm done peeing. Now, it gives up while my bladder is still feeling very obviously full and I haven't urinated much by the time it gives up. Ugh. So it's not like my body can think i'm really done peeing when my bladder disagrees?

What the hell? Am I getting old? Was I peeing wrong in the first place, am I supposed to just let it trickle out? Is this indicative of a serious condition? There's no funny smell, no burning sensation or anything. It's just always like this when my bladder's really full, and it never used to be such an issue.

Yeastie?

I'm pretty sure I have one, but I don't want to get some Monistat and find out I don't have one.

-Smelly Urine.
-Sharp cramping around my bladder area.
-There is white goo coming over of my vagina. If I stick my finger in there, I can scoop it out.
-My labia minora is kind of swollen and itches.

I had a pap smear done on Friday and I just got these symptoms about mid-day yesterday and it's gotten worse today. So, I'm not going to go in and have the doctor look at me again. I'll take your gals' word for it. =)

I don't know where else to ask this and I've asked questions like this before but this one has really been upsetting me.
I love my boyfriend very much and we plan to get married at some point in the future. The only problem? I can't enjoy sex and I think he's started to realize it. This would really harm our relationship, though it deinitely is not based on sex. I enjoy being with him and his company and could see myself spending my life with him, but he sees that I am not enjoying myself. It doesn't hurt, it's just...boring. So when we do it, I just act like I'm enjoying myself, but he's seen through this and he stops, but I can definitely tell he wants to finish off at least.
I don't know what to do. I've given up on trying to make myself enjoy sex or anything. Also, since starting the pill, I've gained a significant amount of weight and it has made me very self-conscious. And the pill has also made my breasts much larger, but with that comes stretch marks. So whenever he reaches to touch them, I push his hands away automatically. I know some of this is psychological, but I am trying to avoid seeing a therapist and such just because I am so tired of that. I've seen so many for various reasons and it's just EXHAUSTING.
I don't know what or how to tell my boyfriend about that first predicament and I also wonder how I can get rid of these awful stretch marks. And is there any way to make my breasts smaller again? I hate my breasts. Okay, sorry about the long post. I'm just a bit upset.

I have a question

I finished my pack of birthcontrol on July 23 (Saturday) then on the Sunday I started my new pack to skip my period. Instead of taking a week off. So Everything went fine and dandy, till about the 29th. I had no spotting, no breakthrough bleeding, or cramping. Now I have oober bad spotting, or I guess you could call it my period. Not super bad, and I haven't had to wear a pad or anything but it's very annoying and I gotta wipe alot. My cramps have been out of this world. I can't stand them and I'm not one to take an Advil for cramps, but I've had to since Saturday. I'm just wondering if maybe my body reacted bad to this, or is what's happening normal?

I'm on Alesse 21 if that helps. This is also my first time skipping my period, and I only did it because it was my one year on the 28th. Let me tell you, I ain't doing it again if it's going to be such a bitch. I also noticed a different smell than normal and thought maybe the hormones were messing with me. Thanks in advance:)
[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_secondbest/
Is there a website that lists the different types of birth control and the different side effects that go with each? I'm specifically looking for one that doesn't cause weight gain.

itchy skin!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/-glass-/
I don't know why my skin goes crazy in the summer. And this only started last year! I have a dermatologist appointment on the tenth.

I cannot remember when this one thing came about... It's on the back of my neck starting at my hairline and has progressed up my skull. it started out as just an annoying, pinching feeling. when asking if there was anything there, i was just told it was red. well, it has turned into scabby and itchy and gross. the scabs are kind of thick, yellow-ish, and waxy. it does not bleed, but it is oily. omg, it's itchy. this is the main reason for the skin appointment. i haven't changed shampoos or soaps. i rarely use any kind of hair product, and when i do, it's a wax. this thing has definitely been there for months.

i get eczema on the insides of my elbows. it's not too bad, but it was a little while ago. i've just been using cortisone.

my main freaking problem at the moment is my legs, though. god. they are itchy as hell and it's driving me up a wall. it seems to be ok after i shave them, though. family and friends tell me to stop itching when i'm doing it because i don't even really realize what i'm doing. i've got ugly scabs all over my legs. i just got done shaving them. after that, i washed them with an exfoliating body wash and exfoliating gloves. i rinsed them with cool water. i'm getting around to putting some lotion on. i can't find my unscented stuff, so i'm using cocoa butter.

eight more days isn't a lot, but it sure seems like it when your whole body itches and i just want to peel my skin off. reuajkl
