jessbob.livejournal.comI've been a member here for three days, it's taken me that long just to read all the posts!! I was hoping to find some answers to the problem i'm having, but I think I may be a loner here...
Starting aroud May 10th-ish, I started bleeding very lightly... one tampon per day would do it. I just thought I was going to start my period. I was thinking GREAT lets get this over before vacation.. well the "regular" period didn't come, and it kept bleeding that way consistently until about 2 and a half weeks ago when I was at work and I got a sudden SURGE of blood that required me to go home to change.. but right after that I was back to normal, just that one minute of bleeding hard, and then back to light. The bleeding was light enough that I was able to continue having sex on a regular basis, but I was getting worried, so Friday July 22nd I went to my local Planned Parenthood because I know they work on a sliding scale. I'm not sure what they did for me, they gave me STD tests, which I alrealdy know I don't have any because I've been with the same person for the past three years and I had tests done 2 years ago... ANYWAYS... She ordered a couple labs so I had to go somewhere to get those done, and she wants to see me again in two weeks (which is this Friday). One test was to check my Thyroid level and the other two were hormone levels. Then, ironically... two days later I started bleeding really really hard, the kind of bleeding that restricted me to my bathtub and my couch layered with 3 towels... I was passing clots bigger than I thought possible, they hurt so bad when they were coming out, and i'm not usually a big baby, but ouch!! Although it felt like forever, this only lasted less than two days, and then i was back to lightly bleeding for one more day, and NOW.. after three months... I am 100% blood free, exciting, but I still have to deal with this Planned Parenthood thing.
Should I bother going to follow up? Should I find a regular doctor? (I don't have one), the nurse practicioner herself told me that there isn't much she can do for me at Planned Parenthood, so why would she schedule a follow up? I would be interested on starting BC, as I am totally clueless to what kind.. I am severely overweight and cannot afford to gain anymore. Has anyone else had a problem with their thyroid? I had a friend in highschool who had surgery on hers, and then she gained 100 lbs. I've also heard that if there is something wrong with it, it may actually prevent you from losing weight.. and I would be all about that.
Any thoughts? Advice? I am open to anything.
Thank you!
