i've seen entries about going to the gyn during your period, but nothing about yeast. well obviously i'm going go to get treated for the YI, but what about if you have it during your normal yearly appt? i'm a poor college student, and i really cant afford to have 2 appointments, one for the yeast and one for my checkup. so besides getting something for this YI, which i intend to do, will i be able to get my normal pap and stuff, or will the infection mess it up?

Hi! I've been in this community for awhile now, and have always felt secure in knowing that if I had any questions, I can post here. =)

So this isn't really a question, but more of a... cry for reassurance? ;o)

I started using the birth control patch this past Sunday (July 3). Now this is my 6th day wearing it and I feel absolutely fine -- I haven't felt any of the side effects that many of the other women here have written about. In fact, it's like I'm not wearing it at all; the only time I remember that I have a sticker-patch attached to my butt (hehe) is when I check it every couple of hours to make sure it's still in place.

I plan on having sex with my boyfriend next week and we decided to use condoms as second form of protection. So could this be true? The fact that I'm on BC with no side effects, nothing to stand in my way of having a good time? I just feel insecure with the patch because like I said before... it's like I'm not wearing/taking anything. One of the reasons why I want to use condoms is because I know for sure that if we didn't I'd drive myself nuts thinking, "oy...I have all this sperm in me and I don't even know how effective my birth control is!"

So please... reassure me. And I hope this post is clear and makes sense... isn't it funny how at night (it's 1:30am, EST) one can drive oneself sick with worry about things that aren't really there? ;o)

I am unhappy to the state of tears. I have a yeast infection thanks to my new bc pills (Alesse) and I'm using Monistat 3 day combination pack. The thing is, when I used it at night (you're supposed to do it at bedtime), I couldn't fall asleep (not to mention the cream making me burn and itch even worse for a while) and I masturbated (no inside penetration) and came. A few hours later I found some considerable discharge and the cream in my underwear. And now it's burning again and my inner labia is flaming red. What can I do?????????? I am so frustrated.

hey... about 3 months ago i got severe food poisoning... i haven't really had a period since then, and i've been pretty constipated. so this morning, i took a look with a mirror... i have a small bump (about the size of a dime i guess) between my vagina and my anus. i set an appointment with my gyno but then decided that i should just go to urgent care since i have no idea what it could be. has anyone ever had this? when i stretched the skin to see it better, it went below the surface and was no longer visible. when i let go of the skin, it came back. not everything i eat is exiting my body... meaning, things that i ate last weekend still have no left me. it's not that i'm really backed up... the food just never goes through me. i think i caught a parasite when i got sick. i just want to know if anyone has had this bump before and what it could be. please help.

Due to being on antibiotics for a long period of time, the first thing that has come to mind when I've started to get a tad itchy is - yeast infection. There's no discharge. No smell that would lead me to believe that's what it actually is. I'm eating my yogurt constantly, and more religiously now. If I continue the yogurt, add in a sitz bath here and there, use some apple cider vinegar, could I keep this from getting ugly?

in six years of waxing (well, actually, sugaring) my bikini line myself, i've never hurt myself once, not even slightly. today, however, i was using a brand i don't usually use, which is stickier than normal... and the sugaring snagged my labia when i was pulling it off. when i looked in the mirror, it looks like it made a tear between my inner and outer labia :( it's about a centimeter long. it was bleeding, but has mostly stopped now after i put a cold damp cloth on it, but there's still a tear there that i can see... so now, i've put neosporin on it, am wearing cotton non-thong undies, and am praying that it'll heal itself (can you imagine explaining to a doctor about why you need stitches there?? gahh).

anyways, is there anything else i should be doing? it doesn't hurt all that much, but i'm just worried about it healing, or getting infected or something like that.

i was trying on bras today and i noticed a dime-sized area (not perfectly cirular like a dime, just a dime-sized area) of my breast about three inches above the nipple that was slightly yellow, as if it were an old bruise. i never noticed it before, and it's not particularily sore if i press on it. there are no hard lumps underneath, only the normal milk ducts and such. i remember pressing pretty hard during my monthly breast exam about a week ago. could this simply be a leftover bruise? or does it sound like something more complicated? i googled "breast discoloration" and i found that it can be a sign of breast cancer, which sounds VERY scary, especially because i'm a hypochondriac. any advice? has anyone had a bruised breast before that was a slight yellow color? thanks everyone, this community is my favorite.

Hi, all. This past week my dermatologist put me on Minocyclene, an antibiotic that I'll be taking long-term. I told him that I've had troubles with antibiotics in the past because they tend to disrupt the friendly bacteria in my GI tract (in a major way), so he chose an antibiotic that supposedly is well-tolerated.

Given that this particular antibiotic apparently doesn't fuss with your natural digestive flora the way others do, does it seem safe to assume that it won't kill the healthy bacteria in my vagina, either? I've never had a yeast infection caused by an antibiotic, but then again I haven't taken all that many courses of antibiotics in my life, either. Does anyone have any experience with Minocyclene in particular, or taking antibiotics long-term, with regards to yeast infections?

and I've been sick all day. I woke up around 10 and felt very nauseous from then on. I spent most of the time laying on my couch because every time I stood up I felt like I had to vomit. Eventually laying there made me feel like I had to vomit (or have diarrhea) so I went in the bathroom and tried to vomit but couldn't. I tried this several times until finally I took a shower (getting out once in an attempt to vomit), went to lay in bed, and finally felt like I really had to vomit, so I went in the bathroom and did so (this was at about a quarter til 4 PM). A short time later I had diarrhea, then again, and now, when I'm pretty sure there's not much in my digestive tract besides bile, my stomach is still hurting and I still feel like I have to vomit. I have absolutely no clue what caused this and was just posting here to see if it could be somehow related to my period. I don't think I have a fever but I do have a mild headache. Sometimes I have diarrhea on my period but I haven't vomited in, seriously, years. And usually after I do I feel better.

On June 20th I was tested for HPV because of an abnormal pap smear. The gyno told me that if the test was positive they would contact me and if it wasn't then they wouldn't. Did I ever recieve that call? Nope. I am SOO relieved right now. I was so worried and now it was all for nothing.

In other news I was wondering how much acidophilus capsuals everyone takes?
I had a YI and it's pretty much gone except for occasional itching and being uncomfortable when I'm aroused. I was thinking of just taking a higher dose to get rid of this.

Hello everyone! I tried googling this and looking on the VP site, but I can't seem to find an answer. I am heavy set. For some reason, the skin between my inner thighs and around my vagina is darkened. (The skin under my arms is the same way) I am guessing that it is caused by friction of my thighs. Does anyone know what I can do to rid of this? I am sure that I could use powder to stop the friction, but what do I do about the discoloration? I am quite self-concious about it when having sex:/ TY in advance for any info:)

I've been experiencing the classic brown discharge. It started around the time I was due to have my period. Surprised me a little, because before my period, my boobs tend to hurt, my lower abdomen feels weird, etc, but this time I didn't feel a thing.

Usually I have a day of brownish discharge before I get my period for real, but this time it persisted. I can see a little blood in it. Been more than a week now, and this discharge shows no sign of ceasing. My periods never last more than six days. The amount isn't particularly large, I can get by with just pantyliners, but having to constantly wear them is annoying.

I'm on the verge of thinking the damn discharge is going to last forever. Has anyone ever experienced the same thing? Know what it might be caused by? Any help is appreciated; thanks, ladies.

OK I have two questions.

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I had sex once. About an hour later, I kept getting really sharp pains in my stomach. It's not like they went away because I still had them this morning and all day. We had sex twice earlier tonight and he went really deep and hard and my stomach pains are back to like they were yesterday. Everytime I breathe or move, it hurts really bad. Has this ever happened to anyone else or does anyone know what's wrong with me??



Onto question 2.

I started taking birth control and it will be two weeks on Sunday. The Sunday I started was the first day of my period and I kinda spotted a little and then it got heavier and now I'll still notice a little bit of blood in my underwear. It's not heavy but it's mainly after I have sex that I notice the blood. I lost my virginity like 3 years ago so I know it's not because of that. Is it normal to get your period and spot afterwards for about a week and a half? I'm on otc lo if that helps any.
