Hello.
Just a couple questions...

Mini-bio stuff: 17, virgin; I've had my period for the last 6 years or so. I'm not sexually active, but I have an absolutely insane sex drive :x. I also have INSANE hip size--I'm about a 9 whereas my waist is a 4 or so. My hips are easily 12 inches bigger than my waist--I've heard that the bigger your hips are, the longer/wider your vagina is :o

1) I posted forever ago about my weird hymen problem thing, where it's a band from one side to the other that makes tampons, masturbation and will most likely make sex EXTREMELY painful. I tried talking to my mother about it again, and she got mad at me because a) I masturbate and I'm obviously "hitting my cervix or something"--as if I could stick my hand up that far and b) because she doesn't think I'm ready to see an obgyn (but wouldn't I have to do that before I had sex anyway, to get birth control and all that stuff?). So yeah, I tried to ask her if I could see an obgyn and she absolutely refused to have a doctor check it out. Is there any way I can get around this? Planned Parenthood or something? I'm totally lost.

2) About 2 days before my period ends (when it's this odd light brown discharge), it starts to ITCH like MAD. Is this a UTI or a yeast infection? I know my mom's prone to both, but I don't really know what to do because I'm scared to talk about ANYTHING with my mother. It itches to the point where I'm always shifting around in my seat and my labia feel really, REALLY dry.

So yeah, help? o_____o

I am not currently having one. But I read an article in a magazine that a yeast infection can pass on to the male and then he can give it back to you.. Is that right? I didn’t think you could but I wasn’t sure.. BUT if it is true.. can you only spread it without a condom? I guess what I am trying to ask is this, if you have a yeast infection and the male wears a condom will it still infect him and then re-infect you?? (I am assuming that the article is true) thanks!

This has never happened to me before, but then I've never been in love before and so was not prepared for its distractions.

Is it possible to lose a tampon so far up that you can't find it when you reach up alllllll the way with your hand? And if so, would there be pain? I don't feel anything. I can't even remember if I put one in, because I'm also wearing a pad, so it could be that I just forgot. Mary, mother of God.

Help me, please. I can't go to the doctor on a hypochondriac call today, I have things to do, life-altering things, it's THAT KIND OF DAY. Would I know it if my cunt had swallowed a tampon?

Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?

Hello-- i'm looking for any insight on itching relief for yeast infections. I have read a lot about cures, but I'm already taking some tablets you insert nightly for a week. Right now i've been up for a few hours since 3am and I'm desperate; can't sleep, can't even stop moving, it's the worst itchiness I've ever had o_o I was actually contemplating if it was possible to stick a Gravol (stomach numbing)tablet up there, which is sad. I already tried an ice cube but that didn't work.

It's itching *inside*, not outside (since apparently I have cream for the latter). I suppose numbing stuff might not be the greatest idea, but if anyone has any suggestions, they'd be greatly appreciated!

ouchie!

Okay hey all I have a question

The other day I started my period and i was using always pad with wings. Well that night when I went to shower I noticed on my right labia very far down was a large red hard bump that hurt a little. Well now here we are 3 days later the bump has grown very large. It hurts so much. It looks dark red and is very tender to touch.

Any ideas what this is or ways to relieve the pain?

Thanks so much!

i'm a long time reader here...and i just wanted to rant about how i hate my uterus and it's bad sense of humor. i'm one of those with an irregular period. irregular, that is, until i decided to take a trip or something. then my uterus says "oh hey! you're going to see your boyfriend this weekend! suwheet! i'll bleed."

every single time. irritating as hell.

that's all.

I had a baby via c-section in early January. I figured I wouldn't be terribly 'loose' since it wasn't natural childbirth. I started doing kegels pretty much everywhere, at my office, at home, in the car, etc. Been doing them for about 4 months now, and I really don't notice any difference. I am no where near as tight as I was before. It seems to effect the feeling during sex for my husband, and I really don't like that. I would love to be near virginal tight again like I was when I got pregnant.

My question is basically do I need to use the vaginal egg or whatever it's called, or just stick with the exercises and see what happens?

Okay. Here's my story.

When I was sixteen, I got an abscess. They drained it, thinking that would be the end of it. It wasn't. The following year, I knew it had come back when the same symptoms as before occurred. They drained it again, under local anesetic by sticking a drain into the part where there was the previous insertion of the drain. Last year, it came back after five months of lying dormant, so we went to the gynecologist up in Sydney who specialised in cases like me. It had definitely come back and would probably keep coming back if they were just draining it. So, the operation rolls around. They go in and discover I've got a unicornate uterus, and that the abscess is on the left fallopian tube--the tube that's actually attatched to the part of my uterus. They remove fallopian tube and abscess--the right fallopian tube is floating around in an abyss.

My question is this: is it normal after this sort of proceedure to get incredibly bad period pain for the first few days of bleeding? Or should I go back to my gyn to see if there's more to it than that? I should probably mention that I am no stranger to the medical system, and that I am fairly used to proceedures.

Ladies and gentlemen, it's finally happened: the tampon saga (in which I whined and bitched about failing to use tampons for about 6 months) has finally come to a close.

I woke up at about 10:45 AM today, which was way too early for someone who went to be naught but 6 hours earlier. I was going to roll over and go back to sleep, but I felt this sudden rush of menstrual blood come out of me, so I sighed and grabbed a pad and went upstairs.

Now, my sister had bought Tampax Pearl regulars on our vacation. I thought they looked small enough and, since today is the heaviest day of my period, I figured I'd try it.

By now I was so jaded about tampons that I didn't even get nervous. I examined the tampon for a moment, then stuck the end of the applicator about 1/2 cm in to my vagina and pushed. I was waiting for my usual scream of pain, but then I realized that I couldn't push the applicator anymore. I threw it away and, using my index finger, pushed that last bit of the tampon fully in to my vagina.

I stood up and checked everything. Dripping blood? No. Can I feel it? No. Can I still see the string? Yes.

It was unbelievable. I grabbed hand mirror and checked to be sure; sure enough, Mr. Tampon had gone in to Mr. Vagina. (Yes, they're both men to me, but very gay.) I cleaned up all of the blood outside of my vagina--it gets a bit messy sometimes--and walked down to tell my sister.

Jenny [on phone]: "Yeah, I know...what?...oh, awesome, dude. It took you long enough...It's my sister, she's talking about getting a tampon in her cootch...yeah, she's OW QUIT JUMPING ON ME."

I'm really excited, but still a bit nervous. I'm not going to leave my house with one of these until my next period, because I want to see how the whole leakage deal works with it...but as of now, it doesn't look like it's going to be leaking.

So I got them in, I found my tampon brand (Tampax Pearl regulars/slims, depending on cycle heaviness), I'm pretty sure I can handle it by my "mother's golden rules" (my mom insists I change them every 2-3 hours, whereas I don't have any of the slims yet, so I'll probably stop using regulars a day or two after today), and I couldn't have done it without the help of everyone here. Thank you SO MUCH! ::hugs you all::

My Dearest Vulva-Loving Superstars,

Back in the day VP used to have a store at cafepress.com that featured various merchandise with VP-related messages/images. We did it for fun and no profits were ever made (we sold the items at cost). The store is still "open," but we haven't publicized it in ages.

It's time to update the designs and we need your help! Think you're up to snuff? Read the instructions here and send your submission(s) to bob@vaginapagina.com by 12:00p EST on July 14. We'll make a members-only poll so VPers can vote for their favorite designs. The winning designs will end up in the VP store on one of the many products cafepress.com offers.

Any questions? Email us or leave a comment here.

Viva la vulva!,

Can't believe no one has brought this up yet, but:

Justice O'Connor retires from Supreme Court.

Many people expect Bush to try to appoint a justice who is in favor of overturning Roe vs. Wade. It's also very disappointing to me for us to lose one of the two women we have on the SC; it may be way too much to hope that Bush will nominate another female justice.

Thoughts? Bonus points to whomever finds the most creative way to say "Uh-oh, spaghetti-o."

EDIT: Also, here's an article that analyzes decisions and other info on possible replacements. http://slate.com/id/2121270/?GT1=6666

Gosh, this community's fantastic. Hi, everyone!

So my mother recently had a hysterectomy. This operation came after years and years of trouble with her uterus. Her periods would last for two to three weeks, most of the time in an incredibly heavy flow. She tried pills and diets and all sorts of cures that the doctors recommended, but she finally buckled down and got the hysterectomy last week. She's still recovering.

My question: my mother developed this problem around her early thirties (she's now 36; she had me at a very young age). Do you think I'd run the risk of getting the same problem later? For the record, right now I have a period that lasts about four days, usually with only one of them in heavy flow.

Any advice would be appreciated.

EDIT: Another thing...she told me that birth control helped control her period. She offered to get me some. I'm not sexually active, but it's quite a generous offer. Should I take it?

Okay, so I know that antidepressants can have a negative effect on my libido, and all that unfortunate ungoodness.

Straight to the point: I had no sex drive for quite some time until I started birth control in January, and it's been fairly consistent ever since.

I started Lexapro nearly two weeks ago, and I still have a raging sex drive, but it is impossible for me to orgasm. I get very, very close and then I just feel over-stimulated and achy, like I would if I continued stimulation after orgasming.

Am I not trying hard enough? Am I putting too much pressure on myself (and not just "letting it happen")?
Or is this really anorgasmia? And, if so, Is this going to be a temporary thing, as I've only been taking a low dose for a couple of weeks?

Also, provided this could be a serious, long-term issue, is it unreasonable of me to prefer to have anxiety problems over not being able to have a satisfying sex life?

I really appreciate any experience or knowledge anyone's willing to share.

I don't know if this has been posted yet, and I'm a little late, but if you live in colorado you can stop by your local planned parenthood and receive a free pack of emergency contraceptive TODAY.

Hey everyone! I'm a first time poster, and I had a question. Here's some quick info: 25, sexually active for almost 2 years. I've been treated for depression for almost 10 years, many different kinds of anti-depressants (I'm on Wellbutrin now). I'm currently on Ortho Tri Cyclen lo, this is my second month. I've been on it before, about a year ago, which leads me into my question.

I've noticed that taking the BC pills seems to make my depression worse. I feel more agitated, angry and irritable. It's worse during the last 2 weeks of the pill, but it's there during the whole month. It got so bad that I stopped taking the Pill, and used the "pull and pray" method. Eventually my boyfriend and I got sick of waiting every month for my period, and freaking out of it were a few days late, so I decided to go back on it. I'm on a steady dose of anti-depressants now, and therapy, which made me believe that it would be better now, or just go away in time. Has this happened to anyone else out there, and if it has, were there any kinda of birth control pills that worked better or something I could try to alleviate the problem?? Thanks everyone!!

So I started Ortho-tri-cyclen today. This is my first time on the pill since I was twelve years old to regulate my periods. I was just wondering how long it takes for the effects to kick in. I got my period today so I'm wondering if my pms and heaviness of bleeding will already be diminished this week. Also, I had unprotected sex twice this past week, and though he withdrew both times, he came very closely to my vagina and I want to know if starting the pill now will prevent a pregnancy?
