i sometimes get infected and/or ingrown hair follicles on my mons. they get really hot, red, swollen and tender. the only way i can take care of them is to pull the hairs out of that particular follicle with a pair of tweezers. (that sounds painful, but doesn't hurt at all compared to the horrible stabbing, pinching pain that touching the bump causes.) i used to get these every couple of months, but then i started shaving all of my hair off down there. i shaved religiously every day and didn't get a bump for several years while i did this. back in January i stopped shaving everything, and now this. does anyone else suffer from this, and what if anything can be done to prevent them besides shaving? also, i have more than one hair growing out of each of my follicles, but only on my genital area. could that be what's causing it?

hello, i am new to vaginapagina.

i currently have no problems with my vagina except for the fact that i am missing my boyfriend and.....yeah you get the picture. we are away from each other because we are at seperate colleges. it was no biggie before because i could go visit him, but he is a crazy music major and really can't have me visiting. so my poor vagina must hold offh and wait a month to see him. i actually have a count going and it is down to 11 days. :)

well.....hello all.

Planned Parenthood takes care of the vaginas of many women here.

I'm wondering if anyone here works for PP, volunteers there, generally knows a lot about the organization, or knows someone who does who would be willing to answer a few questions for an inquisitive research-paper-writer.

E-mail, IMs (amyisqueer), ICQ messages (39323514), or comments to this post on the subject would be more appreciated than you know.

I feel like I have a one-track mind with this UTI subject, but something occurred to me today that I wanted to ask you ladies about. Could my UTIs be at all linked to my pubic-hair shaving? My theory is this: I use soap/body wash to provide lather to shave, and some of this could be getting into my vagina, irritating it, and causing infection. Has this happened to any of you? I mean, can you pinpoint the time that you started getting UTIs with the time that you started regularly shaving? I've been shaving off and on for a couple years, but I've been shaving regularly (every other day or so) for the past year---which is also when the UTIs started happening. Link? Coincidence?

Help! I don't want to give up shaving. Are there any special non-vagina-irritating soaps that I could be using for shaving lather?

My mother thinks I have a yeast infection, but since I've never had one before, I haven't a clue what that entails. Though there is no burning, no pain, and no discharge, it is extremely itchy around the vagina opening and has been since yesterday. Anybody have the same problem at any point and what did you do about it?
