N.Y. Abortion Rights Group Criticizes Nepal

KATMANDU, Nepal -- A New York abortion rights group demanded on Thursday that the Nepalese government release all women in jail for having abortions or performing them.

Abortion is illegal in Nepal, although midwives perform the procedure clandestinely, resulting in a high mortality rate for pregnant women.

To reduce the number of deaths of women and allow doctors to perform abortions, Parliament approved a bill last week that would make most abortions legal. It will become law once King Gyanandra approves it, which is considered a formality.

The law does not address women already serving sentences of one year to life in prison for abortion-related convictions. At least 65 such women are imprisoned, the Nepal-based Forum for Women, Law and Development said in a study released Thursday.

Are tampons...wrong?

I may be shunned from the community for saying this, but I don't know what I'd do without a tampon. I personally am not very comfortable running around wearing something that feels..well, big, bulgy, uncomfortable and un-natural. Is this the wrong state of mind? I have been wearing tampons since...well....let's see....almost 8 years now....Your replys will probably help the gal who posted below me (she is write a paper on why tampons are bad....). But, yeah, I am SUPER curious....

hey guys..

i'm posting this link because vulvodynia is a disease doctors and women alike are really uneducated about. it's possible this is what i have (i personally think this is definitely what i have, my symptoms match terribly well and it's really difficult to diagnose. thus far all of my other diagnoses and subsequent treatmeants have failed.)

this page has an abundance of information on this elusive chronic pain disease. there's no cure for it, just things one can do to lessen the pain. it may last for days or years. it's psychologically distressing but manageable. the problem is that people may go to tons of doctors over many years and not be diagnosed correctly.

anyway, i hope this is helpful...

I've seen several people mention this recently, but what is it? I know it's some alternate form of sanitary item for during your period, because I saw people saying they got rid of their pads and tampons. Other than that, though, I don't know what it is. Can someone tell me a bit more about this, or post a link to a site that talks about it? Thanks all!
