"One of Britain's largest supermarket chains plans to give teen-agers the morning-after contraceptive pill for free as part of a national effort to reduce the number of teen pregnancies.... The morning-after pill is a high dose of birth control pill taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy. It is already available free with a prescription, but many women do not want to wait for a doctor's appointment and buy it over the counter for a fee."

Hey, I was just wondering what other people's opinions were on the commercials for certain birth control companies like "alesse" and "diane 35". I noticed the Alesse ones don't really tell you what exactly they're advertising, it's just a pretty girl looking cool and mysteriouss. Same with the Diane 35. It's just a bunch of women having a fun time shopping and doing their hair. I took Diane 35, and it actually made me alot more isolated and depressed.

Now, I'm all for being open and seeing birthcontrol on television, we've come along way the past couple of decades. But this corperate "Cooling" of birth control brands, just kind of weirds me out. I mean, we're talking about a serious hormonal medication with many side effects. A girl should take the pill because it meets her biological needs with the fewest complications nessesary, not because she was dazzled by a branded commercial.

I don't know.. maybe i'm not giving enough credit to girls, or i'm being oversensitive with this whole corperate thing.. just thought i'd spark a debate :)
