So, I'm just periatin' all over mah-self. Well, not literally all over myself. You know what I mean, so shove it, ya humps.

I had to walk home from class literally so my upper body was at a 45 degree angle from my legs in order to keep my womb from exploding.

Just thought I'd share.

Usually I never have cramps with my period, and if I do it's only for the first day. Well, I've been having terrible cramps this time around. It's this horrible pinching, twisting feeling. I'll go like a day without bleeding and then I get these cramps and I have tons of bleeding. I don't understand it, I've never had my period go back and forth like this and I've never experienced such terrible cramping.

What could be wrong? and what should I do?

my dearest fellow vagina-bearing superstars,

this post gave me an idea. i think it would be really rad if we could make a reading list that contains books about our vaginas.

we have a couple books on our profile page already and [livejournal.com profile] gezellig_girl and [livejournal.com profile] manhattan made some suggestions, too. here's what we have so far:

the vagina monologues (eve ensler) [aquí se puede comprar la versión en español]

cunt (inga muscio)

herbal healing for women (rosemary gladstar)

woman: an intimate geography (natalie angier)

dragontime magic and mystery of menstruation (luisa francia) [this one's out of print right now at amazon.]

what do you consider recommended reading for your fellow vagina-bearing superstars? leave a comment here with the title and/or author of the book (a link to an affordable place where the book can be purchased online would also be fab). once we get some substantial comments, we'll see about compiling them together into a master list that we can keep on our website.

I just pulled this book out of my packed-away box of books to offer someone some advice, and I realized Rosemary Gladstar's Herbal Healing for Women has to be one of the greatest books out there - and I've only used half of it so far.

It covers everything from menarche to menopause and everything in between, including a detailed chapter on pregnancy. It also includes an in-depth introduction of herbalism and all the necessary how-to stuff for herbal newbie sorts. I've referred to it for cramps, delayed periods, urinary tract infections, yeast infections, and even acne remedies. This book definitely belongs on the VaginaPagina list of recommended reading.
