bc question

Okay, so I'm taking the off week right now, and I am having my period, was having it before I got to the off week though... but I'm supposed to be going to my boyfriend's house Friday night and I really don't want to be bleeding.. So can I go ahead and start the active pills again or just wait it out and hope??? Or does it really matter. I'm sorry for all the questions but I'm a bit lost. Also a friend told me tonight that I wasn't full protected until I finished the first pack, I thought it was after the first week? I mean I am pretty sure I'm not pregnant by the period, but I did have unprotected sex before I finished the first pack... Do I need to worry about pregnancy?
