Hey VPers,

I have a really peculiar problem and I'm not sure what it is or how to really explain it. I thought at first it was a yeast infection, but the only place that's really bothering me is my butt crack area. It's nonsensically itchy and almost always bleeds when I wipe, although I know it's just from the act of wiping (it seems really sensitive). I'm very cleanly and I have been extra careful now that this has been happening (washing more often and gentler, in addition to using flushable wipes). Wondering if it has been due to yeast, I've stopped wearing underwear most of the time and I have been using miconazole cream. It's been about two weeks now and I have only noticed minor relief through these steps. Does anyone know what this is? It's not centralized at all. In really goes from top to bottom, but I notice MUCH less irritation from my vagina forward (although there is a little itchiness there, hence my thinking it's yeast).

I know it never hurts go to a doctor but I don't have insurance and I'd like to avoid it if I can. I usually just get advice from a family member who is a doctor, but this is just one of those situations where that is a semi-last resort, so any advice is welcome.

I've wondered if maybe I'm being too clean, but I thought that was only a problem that would happen with the vagina? I didn't think that the anus region was as self-regulating. Also, it might be worth noting that I'm pretty sure this started shortly after my period ended. I can get irritated by feminine products, but I mostly used tampons so I don't know why this area would be the trouble spot.

It sounds like it could be hemorrhoids; I get itching very similar to what you describe from that, too. Do you find that you strain when you go to the bathroom, sometimes? One time, after I had that issue, I found blood on the toilet paper as well when I wiped, and realized it was just my hemorrhoid.

I am really not an expert on this kind of thing, but I hope my personal experience helps you out a bit. :)

^^Hemorrhoids are what I was thinking, too. Might be worth trying some ointment or suppositories for that. (I've never had them myself, but my boyfriend did once and was surprised to find that the suppositories were way less irritating than the ointment.)

I second the hemorrhoid possibility, which you definitely should check out with the dr.

If you're not straining, have a high-fiber high-hydration diet, and have regular bowel movements then it might be your buttcrack hair. Do you shave/wax back there? When I used to it would itch horribly when it was growing back.

Just something to think about.

To clarify: where is the blood coming from? is it coming from the skin above your rectum (just the skin fold there) or is it actually anal bleeding?

I ask because I had a HORRIBLE fungal/tinea/raw skin/whatever you want to call it infection in the skin above -- between my butt cheeks. It got so bad it was weeping and bleeding before I finally got it under control (probably a secondary bacterial infection in addition to the tinea). It itched so badly I wanted to die.

If it is higher up behind your anus, it could be a pilondial cyst, I have one and it will itch and bleed, but at least that means it's draining. I found out I had it when I was 14 because it got stopped up.

If the blood is darker than the usual bright red color of blood, you should consult a doctor ASAP because dark blood coming from the rectum is usually a sign of internal bleeding and could be very serious.
