I'm a little wider than you and have had very good luck with Hanes "high cut" cotton panties. They are a little more stylish than full coverage briefs, they live up to their claims of being "wedgie free" and the elastic doesn't irritate me. I get them at Walmart. They come in packs of 5-6 in white or in colors.
