Hi VP,

I am just curious if anybody else on here has experienced nipple discharge when taking birth control.

I am on Natazia and my gyno wasn't concerned about it. I'm not too concerned about it either as I am not "leaking." My boobs just get sore and if I squeeze them a few drops of clear/clearish-white fluid comes out. She told me to try not to touch my boobs in hopes that my body would stop producing the fluid.

Does anybody have any experience with this?

I had the same issue on Ortho Tri Cyclin Lo. My doctor also wasn't concerned and told me to stop playing with my breasts, too. She said it was a rare side effect.

I can express green stuff, without being on HBC at all. (It's "normally abnormal," the endocrinologist affirmed. She also said I was half-martian, which made me all kinds of delighted! O:D )

The reason the doctor is telling you not to mess with your bosom is that playing with your breasts will elevate the levels of Prolactin in your brain, and prolactin is the hormone that causes milk to be produced. (After demonstrating my ability to get green droplets, the endo gave me a slip for a blood test to check prolactin, but told me to wait a few days because after squeezing them, the prolactin levels would be elevated.)

Hopefully after 3 months, your body will decide that the hormone balance isn't really worth generating prolactin for. But even if it does persist, it's not likely to be much of an issue unless the soreness remains. Luck!
