I am not an expert, but something similar has happened to me, especially when there have been some major shifts/changes in my life. Of course, cycles can change for a lot of reasons, but lifestyle changes can definitely factor into that!
For a while, I found that my cycle would not only be about the same amount of days every month, but would actually start on the same day every month. Then, out of the blue, it was a week later, which, of course, made me anxious. Then, it was regular again. I, too, am not on any hormonal birth control, so this was really odd for me. I suppose I don't have any definite answers, but you aren't alone. It happens to me from time to time as well. :)
