There was a similar questions recently, but my situation is a bit different. :) I have had brown spotting (less than a panty liner full a day) for over two weeks. There is rarely some pink blood, but not enough to wear a pad. It gets much lighter where it's almost gone and then the brown comes back, but it's still not enough to do more than stain my undies. I'm not on any form of birth control, but I had a negative pregnancy test last week. My period was almost two months late when this started. What else could this be? I am used to having weird periods; I even had a super heavy one that lasted for 6 months straight. I was anemic after that, but that was about 10 years ago. Thanks for any help or suggestions!

When in your cycle did it start? I sometimes get light ovulation spotting, and once it continued for two weeks, right up until my next period. I guess that time instead of totally ovulating I got a mild ovarian cyst or something? Anyway, if it started when you'd expect to ovulate, I'd chalk it up to a wonky cycle. On the other hand, prolonged, light bleeding like that can be a sign of infection. If you can, it might be worth seeing a doctor if it goes on for much longer.

I had the same thing...actually, it was spotting for three weeks after a late period, then it turned into full flow, which has been going on for three weeks as well. I do have PCOS, so I called my doctor yesterday who said that it wasn't normal, and she put me on something called Provera, which I think is just a synthetic progesterone. I'm to take it for ten days and then she said it would hopefully "reset" my cycle. Maybe call your doctor and see what they say about the provera? Whatever happens, I think calling your doctor is your best bet.

Also, a few years back I had a period that lasted for nine months, and when I finally went to my doctor he said that my uterine lining had built up so much that it was shedding gradually instead of all at once. I think I was put on Provera then too, as a matter of fact, and I did start with regular periods again. Good luck!

I'm agreeing that it might be useful to see a doctor about this, and if you'd had any sex where it was plausible pregnancy might be a risk, you might wish to have a blood test (or ultrasound!) Just In Case.

Good luck! (If you find out what it is, besides Wonky Uterus, I'd love to see an update to add to the store of data -- if you were okay with that!)
