I recently had a uti which was successfully eliminated with antibiotics. However, my urethra is very painful to the touch (am referring to the fleshy muscles that surround the opening). Sex is painful as a result.
I am not sure of how a normal urethra is supposed to look like, but I noticed the texture of the parts that are painful are different to the less painful areas.

Any one experience this, and know of any cure?
Thank you.

One side effect of antibiotics can be thrush, so it's possible you have that now. Is there any discharge (like white or creamy coloured). You mention that the texture is different; if it looks as if you have a bit of a rash (white spots, maybe) then that sounds a lot like thrush.

Not sure where you're from but a natural remedy would be plain yoghurt (thrush is a yeast infection), but it might be best going to the doctor. There are over the counter remedies for thrush - one in the UK is called canestan, and there's also Diflucan. These come in tablet or cream form.

If this is thrush then your partner will have to be treated as well or you'll pass it back and forth.

Yes I have had this and for me it means a bladder infection..it is a sure sign in my case...you may need to take more or different antibiotics and they should culture your urine to make sure you are getting the right one..
