Just wondering if anyone else is on Trinessa. I just got switched to it from Tri Sprintec because apparently Tri Sprintec is no longer available...? Was told that it is an identical pill, and that is fine with me, I prefer the oval packs myself and because of breakthrough bleeding/spotting was going to ask for a matching generic regardless. I have been doing some research though, and things don't appear to be good as far as Trinessa goes with the recalls and pregnancies that occur/ have occurred.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Also would like to know whether or not you like it, and why. TIA

I was on it for a while, about a year or two ago. I loved it for the first 6 months or so, but then they changed the fillers or something and I started getting really bad side effects. I'm assuming it was the fillers because the side effects started with my new pack that stated they were "new colors" and "new smaller size" and as soon as I stopped taking it, the effects went away. *shrugs* Who knows?

Anyways, you might do great on Trinessa since the hormones/fillers react differently to everyone. I used it as my exclusive form of BC the entire time I was on it and never had a pregnancy scare.

Yes, I got an IUD (Mirena) after the pill. I tried Yaz and the NuvaRing too, but I travel a lot for work and wanted something I didn't have to take everyday since I'm always in different time zones.

I was on regular Ortho Tri Cyclen first too (my doctor had sample packs). When I got the generic, it depended on what pharmacy you went to because certain ones only carry the one generic. I believe Walgreens carried Trinessa, but CVS only carried Tri Sprintec. I believe they can interchange them since they're technically the same medicine.

I've been on Trinessa since 2008 (both before and after they changed the fillers/made the pills smaller) with a 6 month break for Lo Estrin 24 just recently.

The only real side effect I've experienced is a little vaginal dryness in the middle of week 2 of the active pills, but it's nothing a little KY won't fix, so it's not a dealbreaker for me.

I have never experienced any breakthrough bleeding on it and I use it as my sole form of BC. I too have never had a pregnancy scare on it.
