When it comes up on Saturday night, does that mean, technically, I'm supposed to take my pill at 10 pm instead of 9 pm?

And is it OK if I just take it at 9 anyway?

I would think an hour wouldnt make much of a difference, and if I keep taking it at 9 afterward, then it'll all pan out. I havent had sex yet, but plan on it in December- and I know this little kink won't make a difference in effectiveness then.

A one hour time change will not effect your pill at all. I dont' change the time i take my pill.

It should be fine as long as you aren't on a progesterone only pill. They need to be taken within fifteen minutes.

Is Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo a progesterone only pill? When I asked my Dr. about the time frame to take that pill she said within about an hour or two either way... so I'm guessing it's not. Is that an accurate time frame?

No, ortho-tri-cyclen is not a POP. Doctors always tell you to take the pill at the same time everday, which is a good idea, but really, as long as you take the pill AROUND the same time everyday, you're fine. basically, as long as you don't take the pill more than 12 hours late, you are perfectly fine. We normally say its best to take it within the same 4 hours though.

This is not good information for everyone. A lot of women develop breakthrough bleeding and other side effects besides heightened fertility if they don't take the pill within an hour or so of their "time" every day.

It's perfectly accurate information. Go and view any birth control website, there is a 12 hours time frame that you can SAFELY take the pill in. It's much better to take the pill at the same time everyday, the main reason doctors tell you to take the pill at the same time is because it minimizes side effects, so the later you take it, the more side effects you will potentially have. But as a general rule, the pill is still effective and it's not considered 'missing' a pill.

Thank you! So if I'm within an hour of the same time each night... it should be completely effective, or as effective as it would be for me if I took it at exactly the same time?
