Is there any risk to the pills effectiveness if one has diarrhea a couple of hours before the pill is taken (assuming the diarrhea doesn't happen again after)?

No, there shouldn't be. It's only if you have diarrhea after you take the pill that it would be ineffective. I think that time frame is about 2 hours after.

No. The only way diarrhea affects BCP use is if the pill is unable to be absorbed - i.e. if the pill is taken, and the digestion process is interrupted so profoundly that the contents of the body are expelled repeatedly and violently.
