two things -

one, i went to the gyno today, and got the nuva ring. i am so excited :) and i told her about vaginapagina, and she thought it was awesome, because i knew all about what i was talking about. so yay vaginapagina!

two, i was looking online but i'm not sure i found it - i'm wondering if there is spermicidal lubricant? not condoms WITH spermicidal lubricant, i mean just some lube that happens to also have spermicide in it. and, if there is, does it irritate as much as the condoms with the spermicide? because whenever we used those condoms it really really hurt and we had to stop.

i'm just wondering, because even though i will be on the nuvaring i think at least until i get used to the idea of sex without condoms (which won't happen for a while since i won't be starting the nuvaring until next month and you're supposed to wait 7-14 days) i want to have a backup that is somewhat less ... condomy.

if it really hurt using a condom with spermicide (which has a really minimal amount), it probably wouldn't be good to use more spermicide, as you may be allergic to the chemical. I've been using VCF/condoms for the past month (waiting to get an IUD), and while it doesn't hurt me, it did give me a nasty yeast infection that spread to a bladder infection and caused much pain, so I really can't wait to stop using the stuff.

If spermicidally lubricated condoms irritated you, it's likely that spermicidal foam or spermicidal lubricants would irritate you too.

boo. i just wanted a backup that wasn't a condom, but i don't want to go out and get a diaphragm either since i have the nuvaring.

you have to use a diaphram WITH spermicide, so thats out of the question.
sucks, dont it? i wanted to go on non hormonal bc and because spermicide hurts like the devil i cant.
and i really miss ovulating

Yeah, what they said... sermicide condoms are minimal spermicide.

I agree that if it hurt when you had sex with the spermicidal condoms (and not with others) then you probably do have an allergy.

just to answer your question though, YES there is a spermicidal lubricant. KY makes one that you can pick up at your local drugstore, and there are many more online or at specialty stores.

I had some lube w/ that spermacide in it and it STINGS!

I do NOT recommend it.
