you're not on hormonal birth control, and it's a real period, yes? (If it's HBC, don't worry about it.)
While the last day of your period is a reeeeeeelatively unlikely time to be in a fertile window (i.e., ovulation coming soon enough that there will still be live sperm in your system), it's not impossible. I would get the Plan B if getting pregnant is absolutely not in your current plans, yes.
The Plan B, taken on the 9th or 10th, should -- from the timing -- whack your ovaries upside the head and leave them reeling around for plenty long enough that the sperm would've died out.
Taking a shower will do nothing to statistically affect your chance of conception one way or another. (Neither will peeing immediately after, though that's good for UTI prevention. Sperm are very fragile in air (like, insta-death if they dry out), but did evolve to be able to deal with little things like not doing all those conception-maximizing tricks that people use when they're actively trying to get pregnant.)
Make sure you're using enough lube with the condom? Condom failures can happen, but it's a good idea to double-check that it's not due to improper use/too much friction. (If you get to a point where you're both more willing to be fluid bonded, there is the option of lambskin condoms. They're totally anti-vegan, they're expensive, and they offer no statistical protection vs. STDs... but I have never, ever had one break. Had one slip due to user-error, but I know what happened there. >_> )
Yay for a great guy, and hopefully a fun time, and boo for condom-breakage!
