Taking my man to the gyno!

So, I made my annual pelvic exam appointment. My fiance wants to join in on the fun and come with to experience what going to the gyno is like. I'm relatively new to the whole going-to-the-gyno thing (it's only my second time). My question is, is he allowed to be in the room with me while my doctor is poking around down there? I'm honestly surprised he even wants to come with, haha.

Definitely call ahead and ask. Some places won't allow it at all. I've brought my partner in with me for a variety of things (IUD insertion, colposcopy, LEEP) and it hasn't ever been a problem.
