I made an appointment for an exam at Planned Parenthood tomorrow. I'm going to make sure I'm all good down there and get on the pill. I feel very empowered. I'm taking charge of reprodutive health. :)
Anyway...
What should I expect about the exam?

What should I expect about the exam?
Play by play... in shorthand
Date: 2003-10-08 05:25 pm (UTC)-Fill out paperwork
-Talk to doctor about any medical history (in my case, the women in my family have had problems with estrogen, and my mother has had numerous cervical problems). Decide which one to go on.
- Urine pregnancy test (even if you've just finished a period)
-They show you on a model your girly bits and explain what they'll be doing
-Breast exam
-Pap smear... they scrape your cervix with a long q-tip. It can make you cramp a little, but just relax and breathe deep. Over very quick!
-Pelvic exam.. the doctor inserts one or two fingers and presses up to feel ovaries, tubes, etc. Uses other hand to press your lower abdomen. Also over quickly.
-Dress. She'll talk to you about your birth control some more.
-Pay, get prescription or pills if you're planning on getting them through PP
-Leave.. see you in a year!
