You aren't supposed to use douches or anything of that sort. Using soap could disrupt the ph balance down there. I normally just use water and "rinse", I guess you can say, down there. No detergents whatsoever.

Water and fingers only. I don't even like to use a washcloth because bacteria can build up on it.

I'm old fashioned. I use soap or body wash on my bits, use shaving cream to shave the mons, and occasionally douche with 50/50 peroxide and water. I also take Probiotics to try and keep everything in balance.

When I'm careful about my diet, I don't get the yeasties. If I'm not so careful about diet/meds/enough liquids, I get The Funk down there. It can be made worse by hot weather as I am a Round Woman who gained back 40 pounds (thank you, stupid medications) in the last 8 months. My theory is that if I can smell me, others can too. And I'm really self conscious about having other people judging me on my looks/fat funk. I don't use a lot of perfumes, my goal is to smell clean.

gentle anti-bacteria soap (never a bar, never a washcloth, never inside).

daily (wide range) probiotics will prevent yeast infections and really good for you in general.

I'm generally a water girl, with just a bit of soap on the outside (which get rinsed, a lot!).

If you've never had any smell or yeast, you're doing fine.

Don't let them tell you it's supposed to smell like roses when it's supposed to smell like pussy!

Water and fingers are fine for me. I don't wash my eyeballs or my nostrils with soap, why should I need to do so for my vagina, which is also a mucous membrane? It's just asking for trouble.

I just use water to clean my vulva. Sometimes I use a very mild soap to wash the inner thigh area, but I try to keep it away from my vulva itself. Some people do use soap or body wash to clean that area without any issues, but it's definitely not something that you have to do. Many people prefer to use just water, for various reasons, and that's perfectly acceptable too.

It sounds like your current vulvovaginal hygiene routine works well for you and your body, so I'd say to just keep on doing what you've been doing. If you're interested in reading more, we do have a Vulvapedia entry on this subject (http://www.vaginapagina.com/index.php?title=Vulvovaginal_Hygiene) that you might find useful. :)
