have you ever had pain with sex before? I have a neurological vulvar pain condition called vulvodynia. The aread around my vaginal opening is very painful, as well as a tiny bit inside...not deep inside though. Where is your pain exactly located?
Perhaps you are having an allergic reaction to whatever was in the NuvaRing. This may sound funny, but putting a bag of frozen peas against the area might help alleviate the swelling and pain. I have also heard of people filling a condom with frozen peas or something frozen and sticking the tip in their vagina.
