I don't know what it is about the pheromones exactly (we react VERY strongly to them, however - it's said they play a huge part in attraction and even mother-child bonding) but it's interesting to note that some women are "leaders" and some are "followers" when it comes to menstrual cycles. I participated in a grad student's thesis study on the subject and was found to be a "leader" - meaning that most women's cycles will eventually change to follow mine if they're not on hormonal BC. Some women who have irregular periods may just be more susceptible to the pheromones around them - and women like me may have stronger pheromone secretions - according to the student I did the study for.
That is interesting, being on BC I don't supose I could experiment with that myself...also of course being that there are only two women in this house. I'm going to have to get more female friends to test that out with, thats really cool.
Perhaps you will find some of you group together, whatever happens I think the guy is in for a tough time. My ex used to live in a house with 4 others, 1 of the 4 was a girl (Rachel), there was then myself and Kris who were the girlfriends, we stayed there quite a bit - we all synced up... I am VERY prone to mood swings at the best of times, but when I have my periods I can just from queen bitch to a crying emotional reck in less than a second. Rachel takes her periods ruff, she is perminantly attatched to her housemate Neil, a hot water bottle and cup of tea, in her PJ's for the whole week wondering about the house whining. Kris eats, and eats and eats when she is on her period and is also prone to mood swings, but secret mood swings, unlike me she doesn't shout she mumbles beneith her breath and gives funny looks. For a week every month all the men honestly hid from us, one of us at a time was bad, but three or more women on their period together is pure hell.
Funny ... the only time I have ever had a regular cycle is when I am living with a woman. I, usually within a couple months, automatically adjust to the other girl's cycle.
My roommie and I are on the same schedule to the day. It is weird! Nice though, cause we are both psycho on the same days and my hubby only has to deal with it once!
