thank you all for your info and advice on my last question! you guys are great. we've been dealing with the issue by just having him pull out, which sucks, but is much better than having an angry pussy for a week afterwards. but i'm having a new problem! arg! girlybits can be such a pain in the ass. so here's my problem. (sorry if this has already been discussed ad nauseum-- i skimmed through the archives for an info on this, but didn't find anything to specifically answer my question. maybe i didn't look hard enough.)

i'm on ortho tri-cyclen, and have been since late june. it's treated me pretty well-- totally cleared up my skin (a godsend) and, of course, i haven't gotten pregnant. lately, though, i've been having what i think might be funky side effects. the past few days my boobs have been very tender, to the point where it hurts when my boy fondles them. :( i've also been having bizarre moods that i can't explain and can't seem to shake (fortunately those seem to have abated a bit).

most distressing, though, is a marked decrease in sensitivity of my general crotchal region. we'd been abstaining from sex for the past few days for unrelated reasons, but then last night we had sex again. he was fantastic, i was wet (well after we got going), but i just wasn't feeling it-- literally! i mean, what the hell? like, i have been having a lot of trouble having an orgasm this week, and i can barely feel it when he goes down on me. or rather, i can feel it, but it doesn't feel, like, fantastic. you know, tingly. which i know for a fact is not normal because not too long ago he had me writhing in ecstasy. needless to say, i am displeased. it makes me unhappy because not only am i not enjoying it as much as i should (& want to), but as a result, i'm not as spunky in bed, which means i'm not as good for him. i feel like i'm faking it a bit, which is HORRIBLE, especially because he's doing everything right. hrmph.

i'm wondering if this could have something do with the varying levels of hormones in the ortho tri-cyclen. i'm currently on day 16, which i believe is a couple of pills into the dark blues. i just checked their website and, unless i mis-read, this is the highest level of hormones in the monthly cycle. could this be causing these distressing side effects?

if so, i'm strongly considering going to a low-dose monophasic (?) pill, like alesse, because this just won't do. i can't be frigid & unfeeling 1+ week out of every month! so, do you guys have any experience with alesse or other low-dose pills like it? recommendations? downsides of taking a pill like that instead of OTC? any info or personal experiences you could share would be fantastic. thanks so much! :)

actually you shouldn't even have to worry. this is a safe space, no one's gonna make fun of you or something.
(except if you know that some of your "enemies" are members of this comm)

Personally i think low dose monophasic pills are 100% better than triphasic pills. I switched from OTC to mircette about four months ago and i would NEVER go back. Mircette is like a god send to me. I was having horrible headaches on OTC, which were caused by the changing hormone levels. They were worse on the highest hormone level (the dark blue pills) and even WORSE during the placebo week. So switched to mircette, which is low dose monophasic, and i have no headaches and no side effects, which is great. Alesse is good too, its a lower dose than mircette, but still monophasic. I'd totally recommed at least trying a monophasic pill if you're not happy with OTC.

I am a firm believer that they way OTC works is by making you too psycho for anyone to want to have sex with you.

If you're looking at switching BC pills, Yasmin is absolutely the bomb. Little to no side effects, clear skin, lighter periods, fewer cramps, less moodiness, and even an increased sex drive. I love my Yasmin!
