I was on the patch (well, sort of...I lasted one day because it itched so damn bad I tore it off). Anyways, I did some research before I got it and here is basically the deal with the higher hormones:
The patch basically keeps a steady dose of hormones in your body. The Pill puts the whole amount of hormone in your body at one time, then gradually lessens until you take the next pill. Then the hormone levels spike up again. The highest spike in the hormone levels with the pill is higher than ANY level the patch will give you. Also, the Patch has higher hormone levels than the lower levels of the Pill. The patch just keeps the hormone levels constant instead of spiking up and down.
