Hey.. My name's lizzie and i'm new to the community.. i've had a vagina for almost 18 years.

i've been wondering if anyone else here has had problems with getting an irritated urinary tract or bladder infection type problems from sex. i have been having problems like that lately and would appreciate any insight.

It's pretty easy to get a UTI after sex. All that rubbing can force bacteria into your urethra. Most women recommend urinating ASAP after sex to get rid of it. Also, the homeopathic remedies (cranberry juice, etc) are very useful

yeah, it's a fairly big issue for me lately. everytime my boyfriend and i are in the same place (it happens every month or two) we have sex a lot, he leaves, i have some sort of infection. so, yeah, i think it's a fairly common issue.

yea i've gotten about three within one month
i had one REALLY bad one where i had to take meds but the other two only lasted a few hours..

yeah, i had one that i couldn't take care of in any of my normal ways (this was yeast), so i went to planned parenthood and the doctor was shocked at how bad it was! i was oddly proud.

it's not fun, is it?

god.. i'd go to the bathroom every single chance i got at school and just sit there sobbing

Oh, boy, honey, could I cry you a river about UTIs. ::grin:: I was so getting them so often for a while there that they actually prescribed a preventative antibiotic!

God yes, I am prone to those f*ckers! I am still getting over mine from a week ago. Let me just say that lots of water and lots of peeing are your friends!
It totally sucks because I am a sex monster, but now I'm going to be scared to have sex for awhile because I don't want another infection!

Also, pee almost immediately before AND after you have sex. Almost every single mag I have read lately says this helps some by pushing out bacteria. But, yeah, water and cranberry juice are the best thing. If it lasts more than a few days, get to a doctor PRONTO, because it can cause WORSE problems if it isn't taken care of. :D
